Bill Laswell documentary The Mystery of - part1 

In the late 80s, a friend was at my house for the first time, and while looking through my CDs, said " Oh wow, you have quite a lot of Bill Laswell, that's cool, most people haven't heard of him." And I say " What do you like of his?" He says " I don't really know, my brother Glenn used to play in a band with him in the 70s when he went to school here." I say " No, it's probably not the same guy." Tom says "Bass player?" I'm like "Yeah" Tom says " Big New York City producer?" What do you know...

I find this video to be one of the most critical videos on youtube for a musician. I'm a buckethead player , I see now why he mentioned bill laswell as an influence.

Bill Laswell is very fresh. I like his work with Praxis and John Zorn.

I'd been following his work since "Temporary Music" and Tom's claim turned out to be true. Glenn was a guitarist and played with Bill in a cover band with two black guys and two white guys, doing stuff like Sly and the Family Stone, Funkadelic, etc. Glenn has a small studio that does a lot of commercials for local radio and television. Not nearly as interesting as the direction Bill took.

This documentary is from 1996. Part 2 has been blocked, because of ' If 6 was 9' by Bootsy.

Bill didn’t produce Red Rain or any Peter Gabriel tracks.
