Possibly my favourite piece of music by Bill Laurance. There’s a simple melodic feeling and yet a rich and complex density to the whole which is hard to describe. Stunning music played by consummate musicians. Astounding!

Bill is extremely talented and an excellent keyboardist, but the synergy of Michael on bass and Robert on drums is absolutely far away from other jazz musucians....!!!!! Excellent piece....

Just when you think a musician can't come up with a new color for music, Bill Laurance comes along and proves the rainbow is endless. Mesmerizing in rhythm, harmony, melody, and endless joy to listen to each instrument one by one to better appreciate the whole.

+Oshapi Awudu bill is a part of snarky puppy which is a jazz fusion band or really just fusion.bill plays lots of contemprary stuff,for example check out there new album sylvia and the song "the curtain" its a really good album

Not a fan of adding lyrics to Bill Laurance's music. Not a huge fan of Prologue: Fjords or U-Bahn because of that. Love the rest of the album, though. And Flint was great.

The thing that differs these guys from other musicians (except for the fact that they are more skilled than most of them) is the strong passion for music! You can see it in them. Whether they play a simple note or a fast lick they enjoy every second of the feel and sound, it's heartwarming and makes you feel the passion too. Love Bill laurences' and his bands work!

This track is sooooo smooth. The string section is **locked in** beautifully!!! Integral but understated.. And muting the piano chords by opening the top and draping it with moving blankets was genius!!! Hearing this song online is what made me go out and get the full CD..

i have been so obsessed with the vocoder in this for so long and still idk how it's done. this doesn't sound like any vocoder i've heard done before. the consonants are so clear and the effect is so textured, human and feminine. i feel like there must be such a specific finely tuned setup there - my only guess is - mic for consonants with very high threshold hp filter + 2-3 part harmony on controller + maybe the vocoder is running (at least in part) a neutral sample of vocalization by the woman who does the ubahn station announcements vo... im amazed

Troy Lucas 0:05 is a Mellotron. It looks different because there's no top shell.

Can someone explain whatever his vocoder setup is? How does he sound like 3 dope female singers when I don't even see his hands playing chords or melody..?

I thought there was overdubbed females as well in individual sections. Unless that's actually his voice. The thing with the vocoder is you still have the original pitch recorded in addition to the synth that you're controlling with your force of air. Bill (and the rest of the band) are fantastic musicians and use this knowledge to the best of their abilities. So if you were singing off-key, it would be completely apparent.

Troy Lucas What vocoder do you use? My EHX V256 works a little different than that. My dry vocal sound doesn't track through at all when I'm using the typical vocoder setting. Singing in-key does help make the vocoder sound more clear but it still works ok if you sing off-key.

LOVE when RU-vid puts suggestions in a mix with what you like. I hit this in one of my mixes due to Snarky Puppy. I can't be more grateful for finding this gem. Also clueless about the voice synth. I saw a vid of a person who scams scammers. HIS voice was audio'd as a female voice-just speaking. Blew me away not realizing you could synth your voice with chord progressions. Raving fan here.

It was with some trepidation that I loaded 'Swift' DVD by Bill Laurance, Michael League and 'Sput' Searight in my player last night. I ruminated that ' Flint' was a too an hard act to follow...but I had no cause to doubt the sheer brilliance of these three virtuosi. Orchestral majesty, soaring soundscapes, intricate textures, drum patterns and piano nuances. U-Bahn being the fitting sequel to ' Swag Times' ( Flint) for me in what can only be described as .......A Clazz Act !!
