Thanks for doing this interview about Mac. Mac crossed paths with so many of the musicians from that era. He should be better known than he is.

Awesome. I used to see Mac every year at the festival in McAlester as well as the one in Hugo. (Oklahoma). A lot of childhood memories tied up in that. His voice was and still is, unmistakable. Pretty sure he's still the only artist in the International Bluegrass Hall of Fame as well as the Country music Hall of Fame. He kept going almost up until his passing. He made a great album with John Prine, one with Merle Haggard, and one called Songs From My Mother's Hand. Glad I got to see him perform.

One of Mac's past bosses is in the IBMA, Country Music and Rock & Roll Halls of Fame. Mac was unique.

Great stories and life lessons. Good for young musicians to understand that entertaining on the road has always been a struggle. It still takes hard work and persistence and always has.

You are not Ralph Peer but these stories are getting you pretty close. The fact that you are an artist makes it more meaningful. Keep it up!

Another great one. Thanks. I knew the name Mac Wiseman but knew little about him. I looked up his discography-in 2014 he released an LP/CD titled Songs From My Mother's Hand. He had a notebook that his mother had written down the lyrics to songs she loved on the radio while growing up. The kicker is the LP was released on Wrinkled Records-no wiki info for Wrinkled Records so probably a self published one and a funny name for a guy putting out a record in 2014 when he was in his 80s.

Thomm produced that album and it was recorded at his place (where this interview was done).

Great stories about Mac Wiseman! Question: when I used to stay at Jack’s Boat Dock on the White River in Sylamore Creek in Mountain View, Arkansas we’d go to the Mountain View town square on a Friday & Saturday & listen to all these pickers playing bluegrass. One night I got to talking to a couple of these older players & I asked if they ever gigged around the country. They were embarrassed saying, “naw… we just get together, split a bottle & have fun. Now, Mac Wiseman comes rolling through here maybe once a month when he’s staying at his place over in Calico Rock…” Calico Rock was up the road from Jack’s Boat Dock, maybe 15 miles up towards Missouri. I often wondered if Mac did in fact live there as well as Nashville. Thanks for another great video, Otis. I really appreciate these!
