@@razkable I mean he kinda explained why Allen and Klay has to be on the team. There has to be guys who can stretch the floor and not to have the ball in their hands. He's building a TEAM not just listing the best players. With that being said, you don't really need both of them so yeah Wade has to be on the team no question. Everyone knows about his offensive skills but the dude was awesome defender as well. And I'm sorry did you say Kawhi shouldn't be in there? WTF are you smoking dude 2017 Kawhi was the best two-way player in the league by far. None of the other guys you mentioned are even close what Kawhi brings on defense and his offensive game that year was as almost good as theirs. And your replacements include Dirk, Iverson, Westbrook and Harden? GTFO Harden, Iverson and Russ would kill the team with their ball hogging and Dirk would get toasted by the aliens on defense. Harden and Russ are both kinda bad on defense too. Throw Wade in there instead of Allen or Klay, change Paul's year to 2008 and this is the team I would go too.

Jason Kidd for backup PG - specifically the '02-'03 vintage (Avg: 19-9-6-2). Best PG of the century (not named Curry) to win a title. Massively underrated for seasons on awful Nets teams. Carried them to the Finals in '03. All-Star. Assist leader. 2nd Team All-Defense.
@margarinetaintedgreen8140
@margarinetaintedgreen8140 2 года назад
For a team like this (uber-elite scorers everywhere), if I want the ultimate pure passing/facilitating PG, I take Kidd over anyone not named Magic. Between Isiah, Stockton, Kidd, Nash, and CP3, Kidd is a) at least as a good (if not superior to some) a pure passer/facilitator as any of ‘em b) easily the biggest/strongest (6’4”, 210lbs) c) easily the best defender d) by far the best rebounder - 0 PGs in history with more All-Defensive Teams (only 5 players in history with more, tied w/Jordan and Hakeem, of all people, and 4 others, for 5th all-time with 9 total) - by far the most rebounds ever for a PG - #5 all-time in triple-doubles - #2 all-time in assists - #2 all-time in steals When people say he’s too much of a liability as a scorer, a) that’s not why he’s on the floor anyway, otherwise we’d just go with Curry b) he averaged 16 PPG over his 5-year peak, pretty much the same as Stockton and Nash’s 5-year peaks c) he’s an 80% foul shooter d) he’s 11th all-time in 3PT field goals - compared to Isiah, Stockton, Nash, and CP3, he’s got easily the most 3s of any of them.
@codyssmith73

I get the idea of Kidd, but if I’m looking for that all around floor general who is going to elevate everyone on the floor with him, I’d likely pull out the bottles of 03-04 Chauncey Billups or 16-17 Kyle Lowry as well before making a full assessment.

The issue with Kidd is that he's an asshole. I don't want prime Kidd on this team. Chemistry matters. Old Kidd would be fine for chemistry but he wouldn't be good enough then. That's why Kidd isn't discussed like Nash or Paul, he never put it all together

Not a Kobe guy, but look at how well he played with the 2008 and 2012 Olympic teams. He relegated himself to be a 3 and D player (essentially, the most talented 3 and D guy in basketball history). The only time he really asserted himself as the team's alpha was in the 2008 Gold Medal game, which was also the only time in 2008 or 2012 the teams really faced any real adversity. He didn't shoot the 3 particularly well in the 2008 Olympics, and in 2012 he was content on letting it be the Durant and LeBron show, but the key issue here is that he made himself a team player instead of making the team about himself.

All this complaining about whether Kobe would have fit in is such nonsense. We saw Kobe play with like half of these guys during the Olympics in 2008 and 2012! He was an effective player with the ball less, was a great leader on those teams, provided crucial production in the clutch, and by all accounts, every single one of his teammates loved playing with him and were close to him after that. Watching this after Kobe's death, it's so remarkable that besides the Lakers fan, none of them had anything positive to say about Kobe, as if he's not a remarkable player who contributed to exceptional winning.

Klay Thompson and Durant should be spotting up on the corners while Leonard on the wing ready to catch and shoot a pass from Lebron and/or Antetokempo whilst they work that pick on roll of theirs. Lebron and Antetokempo alternates between being the ball handler and screener. •Pick and roll between Lebron and Durant with KD being the Screener. •Iso on the left and right block for Durant and Kwahi 17 feet from the basket. •Micheal Jordan (Though off the bench still gets 32 mins of playing time) being Isolated in the left and right block 17-8 Feet from the basket. •BALL MOVEMENT ALA Spurs 2013-2014 in NBA finals). Horns- Kevin Durant and Klay Thomson on the corners. Kawhi and Antetokempo on top of the key just behind the 3 point line about 5-6 feet apart from each other. Lebron with the ball on top of the key initiating said offense where either Durant or Kawhi will take the last shot in this offense. (RU-vid it). DEFENSE •ALWAYS SWITCH on pick and roll situation. •Go UNDER the Screen. •No HEDGING the ball handler after a pick and roll. •No helping on a driving offensive player who's ONE PASS AWAY. •Stick to the 3 point shooters when offensive player drives to the basket. •Never double team a post player. •Klay Thompson and Micheal Jordan Gaurds the Point Gaurds. ARGUEMENTS: 1. Why start Klay Thompson and NOT Micheal Jordan? Ans: Micheal Jordan will play the MOST mins in my system. To quote the Great Red Auerbach "It's not who start's the game. It's who finish it". He said that when a sport reporter asked him why he doesn't start John "Hondo" Havlicek. 2. Why Giannis antetokounmpo at Center? Ans: Greek freak is a good passer off the pick and roll. when he rolls and Bron passes him the ball, his court vision, passing skills coupled by his amazing offensive awareness and decision making will make him deadly when he catches that ball off a pick and roll. With Knock down shooters like Klay and Durant in the corners, that will create chaos for the opposing teams defense. Greek freak also gives me the option of running asap because when he grabs the board, we're automatically on a fast-break. Greek freak working on his shooting now and I anticipate that he'll add the 3 point shot to his arsenal too (If Thon Maker can do it, so can he). I also believe that, he's a better hedger on pick on roll defense than Shaq, Olajuwon, Duncan and Garnett is (that's hard to say coz I'm a KG fan). In short, everything that Garnett, Anthony Davis and KAT can do offensively and defensively, Greek Freak can do. And then some. And also, in my SYSTEM, I'll try to limit post scoring to only Hakeem, MJ, DURANT and maybe Kawhi. That's about it. If I were to put in Tim Duncan, he'd get very few touches in the post. And he'll be an OVERLAP. 3. Why no Shaq, Kareem, Tim Duncan? Ans: I love Shaq! He's one of my fave player personally.But seeing as teams runs the pick and roll now days, I'm afraid they'll exploit shaq on D. And it's not that the point guard will score 45 point's on Shaq. It's the chaos that it'll create on my team defense. It creates OPTIONS for the other team. That's a weakness. I don't want weakness. I believe that, it's not the extra point that comes with the 3-point shot that kills teams. It's the chaos of spreading the floor that makes teams want to have knock down 3-point shooters spread the floor. 4. Why no Natural Point Guards? Ans: Lebron James IS a Point Guard. In the 2017 NBA finals, he did EVERYTHING that a point guard did at a HIGH LEVEL. And in my system, I try to REFRAIN from so called "PlayMakers" i.e. the Chris Paul's, the Jason Kidds, the Magic Johnson's, etc. I don't want a player to dribble the ball for 14 seconds. I want that ball SWINGING like it swung on the players of the SPURS in the 2013-2014 NBA finals vs the Miami Heat. I don't need playmakers for my SYSTEM will do all the playmaking. That means EVERYONE, every player on my team IS A PLAYMAKER as long as they RUN my system. I also prefer players that can: A) Have an impact WITHOUT the basketball in their hands i.e. floor spreaders and cutters who has good offensive awarness and good at putting the ball in the hoop (finish) after receiving a bullet pass. B )Able to contribute on the defensive end. 5. How can your team possibly guard players like the Allen Iversons, the Stephen Currys and the Shaqs with your ? Ans: Gary Payton can't shut down Steph Curry. Kawhi Leonard can't shut down Tracy Mcgrady. Mutombo can't shut down Shaq. I've watched the Demarcus "Boogie" Cousins and Brow play The Dallas Mavericks. The Mav's staring unit was Dirk at center and Harrison "Fucking" Barnes at Power Forward. Boogie and Brow vs Dirk and Barnes played each other of about 8 mins in the 1st quarter. But the results WASN'T what people would expect. There was no "Killing" or "Massacring" that happened. Also, Danny Ainge once blew by a 22 yr old uninjured and his prime Micheal Jordan in a crucial point in a Playoff game. These things happen. That is because NBA BASKETBALL is a TEAM SPORTS. Not like boxing. You don't play one on one all the time. I figured, I don't have to fight a cause I can't win and instead, built upon my strengths instead. My team has more to gain from a Player like Klay Thompson (who has proven that he can guard a player of Kyrie Irving's Caliber) than if I were to add a player like Gary Payton who isn't a floor spreader. 6. Why make Mike D'Antoni an assistant coach as to a accomplished coach like Phil Jackson? D' Antoni never won a ring and his system didn't even work. Ans: It did worked. His system that was created way back in 2005 has been copied and IMPROVED upon by teams today. It's like saying Leonardo's Da Vinci's idea of a Helicopter didn't worked but after a century (or two I think) it was copied and improved upon. It works and I want him at the helm as an assistant coach. Phil and Tex's Triangle offence is absolute. Just like the light bulb that has ORANGE light became obsolete because of the LED light. 7. I just cannot ACCEPT that you put Klay Thompson over MJ even though he'll get to play the most mins. He's a legend man! A basketball God. It's just hard for my PRIDE to swallow man? Why the fuck to you decided on that and what was the reasons that you took into consideration when you chose these players on your roster??! Ans: The main reason that I took into account when choosing each specific players on my Wine Cellar team is CHEMISTRY. I like to quantify things. I like to deal in math. In Probabilities. In data, facts and in analytics. People see 6/36. I see 1/6. When they see 8/48, I see 1/8. People that deal with "Pride" and take Generalities like "Pride" into account, they are also the ones that thinks that Heart, Clutchness, Fighting Spirit, etc are what NBA coaches put in their gameplans when they are trying to figure out what is the best way for their team to score more points then the opposing team. They too where the same people back in 1993 that think, Striking is the best form of Martial arts and that Kick Boxer, Karate, Kung Fu, etc where superior to Grappling and much more effective in combat. Until Royce Gracie (Jujutsu) won the whole damn thing in the 1st ever UFC where he annihilated the strikers that he faced. And they too are the same people who still thinks "Posting up" and/or "Low post" scoring is the KEY to winning basketball games. I love MJ. I love Shaq. I Hate the fucking warriors!! But I was objective and calculating when I picked the players on my Wine Cellar Team. I see facts and don't let my emotions alter them or cloud them. I deal in Science. I deal in Chemistry. I look at the team that I made up NOT as human players with personalities and emotions, but as NUMBERS. Numbers like stats, height, weight and reflexes. And skills and abilities of course. It's all CHEMISTRY to me. Note: Please don't comment on how long I've been watching basketball and/or whether or not I've watched 80's, 90's and 2000's NBA basketball. Instead, please CRITICIZE my line up and the system that I just made. Do you think I should have added players like: Allen Iverson Kobe Bryant Tracy Mcgrady Tim Duncan Shaquille O'Neal Or maybe players like: David Robinson Karl Malone Grant Hill Reggie Miller John Stockon Or Chris Paul Stephen Curry Russel Westbrook James Harden Anthony Davis I will listen to all your arguments. I REALLY want you to critique my line up and system. So, instead of saying "This is garbage" or "You dumb coz you only add very recent player on this stupid team", please ELABORATE WHY this is indeed a "Shitty" team and "Not a good line up". Give me an argument as to WHY. Is it because I made Jordan come off the bench? Is it because I didn't add a certain player/s to this team? Is it because I didn't put Magic and Bird? Or, is it maybe because of my "System". Tell me guys. I'll listen guys. I really want to learn from basketball SAVANTS like you.

Two perimeters to consider when talking about putting together the all-time best fantasy basketball team: 1. What rules are we playing under (shot clock, hand checking, leniency with physical basketball)? 2. Are we building a team for the one-game Alien scenario or are we building a dynasty franchise? The two scenarios have different implications for on-court chemistry, off-court chemistry, types of players, ability to shift playing styles, distribution of minutes and touches, basketball IQ and so on and so forth. In the one game scenario I would be less concerned about chemistry (especially off-court) and just pick the best basketball players. In the second dynasty building scenario off-court chemistry, minutes and touches distribution matters a lot more. I've you had a franchise building draft selecting for todays league and rules I would choose this roster: THE STARTERS: Stephen Curry Klay Thompson Lebron James Larry Bird Bill Russell BENCH: 6. Tim Duncan 7. Kevin Durant 8. Kawhi Leonard 9. Chris Paul 10. Dirk Nowitzki 11. Scottie Pippen 12. Steve Kerr Coach: Gregg Popovich Assistants: Brad Stevens and Steve Kerr You have good chemistry (on and off court), basketball IQ and a lineup for every possible situation.

So much Kobe hatred! haha...Kobe was only a locker room menace when his team-mates were scrubs. With Team USA in 2008, he took on the role of defensive stopper and was willing to let other guys score. The 2006 Lakers were one Lamar Odom box out away from beating the Phoenix Suns,@@joshcorbett4787. The Suns were the only team that could actually absorb Kobe's onslaughts that season because 7SoL was a fast-paced precursor to the modern N.B.A. style, otherwise there is a legitimate possibility that Kobe plays the Mavericks, the team he scored 62 points against in three quarters and 43 in another game that same year, for the right to represent the Western Conference. Kobe was voted by N.B.A. players to be the best in the game from 2001-2010. His élite defence and unstoppable offensive magic would enhance the rhythm and flow of any team. Don't be willfully ignorant. It's hilarious when casual fans disagree with the most legendary students of the sport.

2003 Kobe was 30-6.9-5.9 and shot a career high 38.3% on 3-pointers. The only reason the Lakers lost to the Spurs was because he hurt his shoulder in the series before against Minnesota and Horry had a bad hand, missing 24 straight 3-pointers in the playoffs, including 0 for 18 against the Spurs. 2008 Kobe was 28.3-6.3-5.4 and shot 36.1% on 3-pointers. He was a key member of the Olympic team, saving the US gold medal in crunch time against Spain only weeks after a horribly painful loss in the Finals to the Celtics. Lol. Typical of Simmons to troll Lakers fans.

Kobe is one of the best ever. He is definitely one of the top 3 shooting guards ever, if not 2nd best. He is also nowhere near the top 10 all time (probably 15-20 range), and its mostly because we have 2 decades of irrefutable evidence that he was a selfish player; he just happened to be sooo talented that casual basketball fans (ie: 90% of NBA fans) couldn't tell half the crappy things he did because they only see when guys score -- they dont even remember the mounds of misses.

"He is also nowhere near the top 10 all time (probably 15-20 range), and its mostly because we have 2 decades of irrefutable evidence that he was a selfish player" Yet he got 5 rings while beating more 50+ win teams than any other in history, while playing the triangle offense (a system where selfishness will destroy any chance of winning). Nice try.

Bill Simmons is a national treasure and the creativity of The Ringer is off the charts. Puts all the sport talk shows in the shade. Really hate that he's a Boston homer, oh well, can't have everything I guess.

“And he (Kobe) got swept 7 times in his NBA Career, só that’s bad, really bad...”... I notice Simmons will never mention that Shaq got swept 6 times...2 of those times were when he was with Kobe...98 & 99...But SHAQ was the leader of those teams, but ok...put it all on Kobe, I mean, NOBODY says that when Dallas swept them in ‘11, “ Man, how come Pau Gasol didn’t show up?”. I get it he chose to be selfish at times because he thought that he was always the best option...I tend to think that his more troubling qualities were in his quest to be the ultimate player that he was an unrelenting perfectionist and it blinded him to being a more practical player in choice moments....his drive was always at 11....he had no coast mode - even Jordan had that....it’s part of why us Lakers fans love him but also why he had us cringing at times....he saw the game differently, with blinders on, but, unlike Shaq - whom I like - he gave a damn.

Rodney Johnson Jr. I don’t know how old you are but 06 Kobe literally shot the ball instead of passing it to open guys for dunks. I loved every minute of it. He was not the best teammate then because he lost shaq a couple years prior.

@@Juice-ig3jz I'm 25 and I understand and respect your opinion but in 06 who was there for Kobe to pass to truthfully. He had Smush Parker,Kwame Brown, Chris Mihm, Brian Cook that was not a very good team and they almost and should've beat a really good Phoenix team.

Kobe had no one to pass to because HE RAN HIS OWN TEAMMATES OUT OF TOWN, you f***ing idiot. He also made the guys on his team worse instead of better, then insulted them to the media when they didn't know how to fit in while he was shooting the ball 40 times.

EGarrett01 Made his teammates worse ? BRO Kobe is personally responsible for Smush Parker making 6 million dollars the next year. Dude looked like a decent starter for 2 seasons next to Kobe then was literally OUT OF THE LEAGUE 17 games into his first season after Kobe.

I actually agree on Spolstra, super underrated and a track record of managing personalities without the need to run the triangle in the modern NBA...Also Shaq starting. Shaq starts.

Picking 06' Kobe instead 08' or 09' is a crime against basketball. 08' was one of the most complete player of all time. Still got gas to play D and perfect offense player So much hate,even for you Bill

Forget '06 Kobe, you don't need anymore scoring. Put in '04 Ben Wallace. A guy who could lead the league in rebounding and blocked shots, record the best defensive plus/minus EVER, and won a ring shutting down the Shaq/Kobe Lakers.

49:48 what has Anthony Davis ever done to warrant such recognition? Dirk Nowitzki took the 2006 Mavs to the finals, and then won MVP in 2007 and then dragged the Mavericks to the championship in 2011. What has Anthony Davis ever done in any of his seasons?
