Mister wilson is god's divine intervention to us alcoholics. This program saved more Lives, God used his hands to outline this program which is truly divinely sent. There is not a day that goes by that I don't thank god for all the blessings in my life that I almost threw away. God most certainly did for me what I could not do for myself. These interviews are particularly interesting. I saw a special on bill w on Amazon which contained quite a bit of this footage and his story never gets old. This is a fascinating journey and I love all my brothers and sisters In the program
So, may I take it you're a Christian? Since that is most probable (AA was modelled after the Oxford Group, so in essence, it's a Christian-based organization, despite its statements to the contrary), then my question to you is this: Since AA claims that 'God' can be anything one chooses (including inanimate objects, such as a doorknob, light bulb, etc.), doesn't that contravene Christianity's prohibition against idolatry? Many mainline Christian organizations have actually refused to endorse AA, because of that. In essence, it then falls to being considered little more than a pagan cult or a corrupted sect of Christianity. Given that, wouldn't it have been better merely to have just joined a church, rather than becoming known for association with an outfit of such dubious reputation?
There's only one criteria for joining AA, and that's the desire to stop drinking. My understanding is that no organised religion claims to have any specialist knowledge or expertise in treating addictions. You might consider doing even a rudimentary level of research into subjects you very clearly know nothing before committing to online commentary.
@@brendanbrendan9435 And you better get more literate, before committing to online commentary, yourself. The word you should have used is 'criterion,' not 'criteria.' In your final sentence, it would help if you added the word 'about,' after 'nothing,' as well. The day I need instruction from one as illiterate as you, will be a long time in coming, I can say. I'm going to take it that you're an AA advocate. Well, I quit drinking in 2012, after having been quite the prodigious beer drinker, for 25 years, before that. I just quit cold turkey, as they say, and had no difficulty, nor did I make application to AA, or any other cult or supposed addiction aid, or any other bullshit, whatsoever. That ability usually irks you types, though, since you can't do it. As well, several high US courts have ruled AA to be a religious organization, so maybe you should do a little research, yourself. Look under Establishment Clause. I'm a pragmatic agnostic, anyway, so all you religious/quasi-religious fucks are just a bunch of jokes. I didn't need your stupid cults to quit drinking, and I was aheavy drinker, which is supposed to make it harder.
@@ShannonFreng it’s not so much that god can be anything. It’s the idea that the pig headed alcoholic needs to let go of power before s/he can ever even consider that something other than him/herself could be in control. Forcing god down their throat never works. Lead them. Listen to Clancy I.
Hi, my name is Mike and I'm the alcoholic, Thank you very much for this video. I watched it several times! Its great to hear Bill's own words and road to recovery. It helped me and still helps me tremendously. Wishing 24 hrs. to everyone.
This video found me today after I’d spending the morning crying in the deepest depression of my life. I had some success with AA years ago but eventually was led astray by my own devices. Hearing the doubtfulness from the horse’s mouth and his willingness to be willing has inspired me. I’m going to attend my first meeting in 6 years, I can’t say if I will find my solution but I’m going to be willing to accept god and believe that he can remove this defect of character that has plagued me for so long.
AA saved my family. My dad was an alcoholic, but AA, and Al-Anon saved us. Find a good meeting and a good sponsor and commit with all your help with the help of your higher power. I will pray for you.
Thank you Larry for your service. Back in the late 80s and early 90s I used to show the 16mm version of this at meetings around southern california. i miss those days and appreciate you bringing that memory to life again for me.
We have been doing AA book studies and I cannot put into words what a blessing it has been to see the man and hear him speaking in his own words. I am so grateful for your work and for sharing it with us. You have and will in the future save many lives by sharing this with the world. Thank you and may God Bless you always.
Thank you for sharing this with me.... I am unworthy of saving myself, yet I am able and willingly accept this precious gift of Grace that's been bestowed upon me since I "had enough". Thanks to AA for pointing me towards God, and God who brought me to AA to find this miracle of my life which I can now live and be a part of . Bless you for making & posting this video - it's hope has filled me up again... Nothing i has been in vain. 🫶&🙏
Real sanity arrived at painfully. How moving and inspirational. God and my fellow AA friends have kept me sober for nearly ten years. Thank God for this man and our other founders and servants. JOY😉
Thank you for this, Larry!!! I’ve never gotten to see/hear/experience seeing Bill share his story. This is amazing! Thank you again for putting in the effort to make this accessible!
Thank you for this effort. I relapsed after fifteen years of sobriety. After ten months in hell, I am back in the fight. The good news is that this time I am letting God do the fighting. A few trips to the hospital helped with that. Cheers.
Thank you so much for making this film. I enjoyed it immensely, told my group about and have received great feedback. Having been in this wonderful program for 15 years I appreciate Bill’s writing style and,of course, his wisdom but I had never heard him speak until now. What it has done is bring his words and his story to life. What came through more than anything for me was his humility. As I watched I couldn’t help but think of the millions of lives he had a positive effect upon by conceiving of and bringing to fruition this miraculous fellowship. I have been convinced that AA was divinely inspired and it was done through this man. I feel that this film you have made is a treasure. Thank you and be assured that I will continue to recommend it to anyone who will listen to me. God bless you!
A simple and honest surrender to this thing, is one of toughest things I've experienced in my life, so far. I can spend hours of just one day in the principles of denial. I can deny it all I want, but if I believe in the truth of God's will, then I must believe that God made me this way-- with an allergy to alcohol. Alcohol was my first spiritual experience, and that is one truth that's hard to escape. But, there is another solution. I do believe in that.
Thank you for making this video. I too suffer from eye problems, and the fact that you are older than me and still productive in encouraging! I am teaching Breathing Under Water, Spirituality and the 12 Steps by Richard Rohr--starting tomorrow in my Soul Sisters Class at Johns Creek UMC. I wanted to know the origins of the Bill Wilson story--it is encouraging to hear that from his problem, he was able to help others. We are ALL addicts. It is just more apparant in the alcoholic and drug addict. Thank you for sharing. I hope to help others transform their lives, just as Bill Wilson has done. We have to go to the ch 12--what goes around must come around-- thank you again for taking the time to share.
Thank you so much Larry for making this available- I have enjoyed it enormously - I have never seen Bill tell his own story. And to see and hear Lois as well! These two have saved millions of lives. Thank you again 🙏
Thank you for your service brother your spirit will continue to live in this marvelous fellowship. I have just begun my new journey to do thy will… if anyone is new keep coming back it works if you work it and your worth. I’ll keep coming Larry to grow from you marvelous gift of and light.😇🙏
Oh Larry, thank you so much for your efforts in organizing these films! There is no history like them for the millions of AAs whom Bill Wilson has helped to save from the depths of the living hell known as alcoholism. There are not words to express my gratitude and doubtless that of the thousands of others who have watched these.
They are but glossed over propaganda. AA was often actually at odds with Wilson's behavior, once he gave over control of AA, to the board of trustees. But somehow, none of this gets mentioned much, though even AA has acknowledged these happenings. But of course, it's not as if AA's going to say that Wison was really just a philandering, lech, who kept a mistress, and was into the occult, use of LSD, and just a money-seeking wretch. He screamed for whisky on his deathbed, even threatening to punch his nurse in the nose, if refused (which he was). All this, and other sordid happenings are documented facts--most of which, even AA does not deny, if pressed. So, this is the great creator of AA, who's so venerated, eh? More just a charlatanistic cult.
Your comment shows that you aren't in recovery, nor is anyone you care about. Most great leaders have had a darker side, and are NOT saints. Nevertheless, AA has saved millions of lives, including my own, and I have nothing but the best words to say about it. There is nothing remotely cultish about AA, so I am sorry you think along those lines. All the very best to you! @@ShannonFreng
@@charlotteritchie3338No, I'm not 'in recovery' (whatever that nebulous expression amounts to), nor have I ever been, or intend being. You lot always defend your great benefactor, absolving him of all ill acts, with some platitude about no one being perfect. So, where do you get the documented proof that AA's saved millions? That's just another example of blatant AA hyperbole. AA is merely for feckless, feeble-minded types. I quit drinking beer after 25 years of being a prodigious imbiber of it, over a decade ago, with no need of any help. But to you people (or many of you, at any rate), ones such as I are usually labelled as merely 'dry drunks.' Where's your much claimed magnanimity in that? It seems more just a simple jealous resentment, on your people's part. I've found that all most AAers practice is psychological projection: Claiming false attributes in others, which they deny having, themselves. Ah well, I don't wish to hold you up, for your next meeting.
Teared up in gratitude when I saw him walking in the beginning. Thank you Bill and thank you to all those who share their experience, strength, and hope in the meetings.
What a historical marvel and a true blessing to see the real Bill W and indeed Lois. Thank you Larry for your work in bringing this to RU-vid to never be lost.
LARRY, THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO MAKE THIS AVAILABLE ON RU-vid. ALL THIS A.A. MATERIAL JUST APPEARED ON MY FEED TODAY, AND I AM ESPECIALLY GRATEFUL TO VIEW THIS FILM OF BILL AND LOIS. MAY GOD BLESS YOU. SINCERELY , STEVE RICH
Bill Wilson came up with the ideal of alcoholics anonymous... He said he had a spiritual awakening that caused him to write a book called The Blue book.
Thank you Mr. LARRY. This Is my first time here on your channel and I thoroughly enjoy this. This movie taught me something I didn't know about this wonderful man who created this safe haven. Many lives were saved. I loved the dress code of sitting outside, telling a story in a suit and tie, and his wife dressed beautifully with her brouche on the lapel of her outer garment. I will continue to watch and share. And I think u truly. God Bless you sir. NYC
Thankyou bill. Thankyou eby. Thankyou. Larry. Thankyou GOD. Thankyou first 100. Thankyou next 2 million. Amd thankyou many more. Who made AA. I was blessed. Twice. Sober from AA. I left and I drank worse than ever. Progressive alcoholic. I have the malady. I had the promises. I have abundance. I left AA. I lost most of my blessing. But still alive. I might look at AA again. One day.
This is a brutally honest assessment of AA, their together and individually. At the end, Lois talks about how the 12 Steps helped her as well. Very interesting.
Every alcoholic should get to Dr. Bob's House. I've been fortunate enough to have visited several times, and it's humbling in a way. The theory of "two alcoholics and a pot of coffee" is a meeting is proven here.
Hi Larry Great Video Sir I enjoyed it and you done a Fine Job. I have a few Channels and some of my viewers suggested I look into Bill Wilson for a Video and I`m doing research on it now. If you don`t mind me asking you , what made you want to do a video about Mr Wilson?
