Her and FINNEAS's process is so organic and amazing. There's not a million people in the studio, there isn't any partying going on. It's just them two, a lot of creativity, fun energy, and sometimes frustration. This is the true reality of music-making.
@@ThisCreepingLife I wouldn’t say NO ONE does that because there are plenty of artists that have many people in the studio whilst they are recording and creating
But the reality is her brother is the only one that can motivate inspire and guide Billy to her full potential, it’s incredible what he brings into her life individually and it’s incredible what they bring to each others life collectively ! reminds me of RJ and Lzzy Hale
Bro finneas is a major back bone bruh. He’s just keeping the vibes up positivity maxed out to 100 percent. Like he’s always optimistic. He has the law of attraction lowkey mastered.
I don't think it's so much about him having the law of attraction mastered, but it's more about being super talented, optimistic, and having his sister to help out that's signed to a major label. That's most likely what keeps him on his toes. His talent, and then the deadlines. I feel like if he had the law of attraction mastered, he'd be God himself 😂👌. Let's be real. No one's that perfect, to have that sorta thing mastered. We could maybe be sorta good at it, but mastered? Nah. Eventually something will shut us down. That's the beauty in life JuJu. The bumpy climb to where we wanna go isn't always straight, but has some change & big learning moments.
And producers. We struggle with the same thing. Is it good enough? Does it suck ? Some days are awesome some days you feel like everything sounds horrible. Lol
“Why do people belt? It sounds horrible”, cut to happier than ever, Billie belting her heart out at the end and expressing that feeling of heartbreak so well 💜 so proud of her growing into herself and her confidence
2:20 . Billie's voice coming out of her iphone singing "Everything I wanted" which is playing through my tiny computer speakers STILL sound amazing. Her natural timber of her voice is good enough to carry songs without complex or heavy producing. That's why her songs don't have a lot of layers of instruments but still sound amazing. The way I see it, it's like this. When you go to Italy and eat their pizza type of food, all it has is dough, tomatoes and basil leaves. Because ingredients are naturally so good, it's better than most pizza here in US that has all the toppings you want. That's the Billie effect. Her ingredients are good so you don't need too much stuff in the music to make it good.
I like your analogy a lot. I would only add that Finneas' production is a little deceptive. Get out a pair of really good headphones and listen to the 'Lost Cause' video. You will hear a whisper track underneath the main vocal line, and an actual spoken word vocalization deep into the mix. Instrumentally their songs are indeed sparse, but layering is definitely going on. Their music really hits hard on good headphones. (And I don't mean Beats!)
Proof that producing is far more than pressing record and messing with software. Amazing to see Finneas problem-solving and encouraging Billie like that
As a voice actor/audio book narrator, I can totally relate to the frustration Billie feels when she blows a line and has to do a pick-up. Part of this is her mostly whispering her lines. Less air going through the vocal cords means less control over whether your voice will crack or give out in some other way. She's a perfectionist, though, so her songs will always be carefully crafted and meticulous. Keep going Billie. You rock!
She is really over-critical which - in a way - makes her so perfect as a singer. I adore that but I wished she had more confidence in the sounds she creates at the time she creates them.
Billie's voice is so distinctive. It's haunting and heartbreaking but really pretty at the same time, sort of reminds me of Lana Del Rey or Dove Cameron.
fuck im only 1 minute in and its so refreshing to see one of the biggest names in music doubting their ability and having down days. i don't know what it is but as a struggling artist trying to make it you just assume the big artists are just on the ball all the time and thats why they made it. but i think its little to do with that and more to do with perseverance. here's to the artists on the come up x
I love the process that goes on in studios, some artists can do it all turned up in one take, some get frustrated by a single bit of the song and feel the need to get it to perfection, there's so much more emotion involved in the process of creating the song rather than the song itself It's like an alchemist in his cave or a chemist in his lab or a philosopher in a room surrounded by pages and pages with rough drafts, books, pictures, substances maybe smoke or drinks in the mission of getting that thing that's living in his mind to get extracted into a piece of art I love it!
I'm not a professional singer, singing is just my hobby and supposedly “stress reliever”, but it is also one of the things that causes me stress. I get frustrated by constantly singing off-key and stuff that ruin my recording. I feel you, Billie.
What an amazing video. It is about knowing how to use what you have. Not about the equipment or expensive studios. It is about heart, gifting and talent. Incredible.
I love how Billie is allowed to show her real feelings without any shame and hate with her brother she doesn’t have to mask and he is just being a supportive brother. Love to hear them both sing as well so beautiful
the amount of self doubt she has is so saddening, she has soo much talent and I'm glad she's really showing us how stressful it is even for the bigger singers.
No and, it's FREAKING DIFFICULT to "whisper sing" it's waaaay more insane than hitting higher notes. Not even Mariah Carey in the grammys could do what Billie was doing man
@@cyberblueangel Whisper singing isn't a seperate category or some kind of unique technique, it's just a suppressed head voice - that's what all singing boils down to, two categories. You have chest voice (growling, screamo, plain old singing) and you have head voice (falsetto, whisper singing, octave jumping, etc). Whisper singing can't be done without head voice mastery, and I assure you Mariah Carrey can do it, any classically-trained singer (like Billie) can do it. Don't get me wrong, Billie is exceptional and a very skilled singer indeed but we don't need to downplay other singers' skills to recognize another, especially if the statement is simply untrue
It's a bit comforting that someone with millions of fans and listeners also has moments of insecurity and feeling not good enough. We're all just lil humans doing our best and worrying if it's not enough.
Oh man, the love these two have is insane. I was brutally attacked by my older brother, was homeless as a teen bc of it and had to stay with creepy older men. I'm so glad she's got someone lovely to not only be her bro but to wk with and create these amazing masterpieces....Awww chk out Mum on the couch - my, my!
It’s so good to watch how they treat each other, I know that they’re sister and brother but when family works together, the possibilities to don’t end right are like 99,0%! And I’m so happy so see how they connect to each other. So so good to see this! Just having fun and this is how they deserves all the possible recognition! ❤️
oh man, I kinda envy their great sibling life especially since it's music related. I love music and I love playing guitar too so it would have been amazing to just help and create couple songs with someone especially that is this good at singing
