😂 please don’t set her up…. for unique voice and unique vocal style using on purpose and influenced by the jazz and indie music of the past like Julie london, Cher barker and all the Crooner singers of the past, she is great! Probably the best with Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Norah jones and Adele, Lana in this century .. for her uniqueness. She is in this league of jazz/indie singers.
I can't seem to focus And you don't seem to notice I'm not here I'm just a mirror You check your complexion To find your reflection's all alone I had to go Can't you hear me? I'm not comin' home Do you understand? I've changed my plans 'Cause I, I'm in love With my future Can't wait to meet her And I, I'm in love But not with anybody else Just wanna get to know myself I know supposedly I'm lonely now (lonely now) Know I'm supposed to be unhappy Without someone (someone) But aren't I someone? (Aren't I someone? Yeah) I'd (I'd) like to be your answer (be your answer) 'Cause you're so handsome (you're so handsome) But I know better Than to drive you home 'Cause you'd invite me in And I'd be yours again But I, I'm in love (love, love, love, love) With my future And you don't know her And I, I'm in love (love, love) But not with anybody here I'll see you in a couple years
I had never seen her perform. I just figured that she was just another crappy pop artist with auto tune and a horrible beat, like most popular music artists these days. Wow! She blew me away. I guess I shouldn’t assume.
She also doesn’t use autotune (I’m a musician) even in Bad guy they all are like 20 vocal harmonies all together 😅 they made that song in 1 year .. you think it’s a easy song, but it’s not bc it’s minimal and making interesting and original funny minimal music is not easy especially with that voice .. and she doesn’t want to use autotune pitch correction, she only used the autotune for an artistic choice in “NDA” the chorus and another unknown song! Then she used the vocoder just for the creepy effects on her voice in her debut album (when we all fall asleep where we go?) bc the entire album concept is a “nightmare” a dream in fact the last song “Goodbye” is in reverse with all the lyrics of the previous songs in order from the last song to the first like when we wake up and remember our dream backwards .. she wants to represent human fears and “human demons/monsters” (metaphorically) like depression, making a song like Xanny against the abuse of Xanax from this young generation, drugs/ alcohol (how she feels uncomfortable being around friends like that when she was always sober and against what they are doing) Fear of the future Climate change (human hypocrisy, to first destroy the world and then pray a “god” to be saved) Phobias (against needles, spiders, being touched in the face Etc the visual of these you can watch in her music videos created by her at only 15-16) Sleep paralysis Etc And sometimes some reverb very popular in dream pop, bc her voice is sometimes more jazzy and sometimes more indie/dream pop, influenced by Julie London, Cher Barker, Mazzy Star, Norah Jones, Peggy lee and all the Crooner singers like Fran Sinatra, who used their voice as an instrument to convey emotions, and it's really unique and interesting.. and the reverb effect is used to make you that feeling that you're dreaming while listening to that soft music, this is why it’s called dream pop, Billie music is a mix of old and new contemporary genres! A mix of everything! Every detail in her work has always an artistic deep cool meaning. She likes to experiment with everything! She is amazing! ❤️
