Very strange. I like it too actually. I’m getting about half and half with responses. For some of them it seems like they didn’t really give it a proper chance. I think they are just on the ‘Billie doesn’t need vocal effects’ side? Maybe?

As a stan i love this song, when u first listen to it you don’t think any more of it but its soo good. When billie plays it live- oh my god. Its one of her bests songs to perform thats why its one of the favorites of the fandom
I have definitely gotten into it this week while walking the pup! I was surprised because I think it is actually one of the better ones but I was expecting it to not be that great.

P.S. I think Mr. Finneas went with the auto-tuney effect on this one to sort of highlight the fact that she is 'Under Water'. I realized that when listening again! What do you think? I definitely think it's supposed to be an underwater effect. So it's for a purpose!
Thing is that this isn't even Autotune. It's a vocoder. It just manipulates your voice to sound warbly. Imogen Heap and Cynic use it a lot too. It doesn't correct pitch like Autotune and Melodyne do. It just adds weird pitches to your vocals to make it sound sort of robotic. A lot of cheaper keyboards you can buy have a mic on it with a Vocoder. Anyway, people think it's pitch correction, so they immediately judge this song. This one happens to be one of my favorites from her.
Yeah it sounded like I was going to hate it, but it's honestly pretty good. Yes, there is the correct term! I just made a comment about the 'auto-tuney' effect, as I realized it wasn't your typical autotune/melodyne. Like I said a minute ago... I'm an old metal head, who fell in love with Billie's music just over a year ago. I love her entire catalog, but some of her singles like this one stick out to me. Keep up the great vids!
Siiiiick. Thanks for watching! Yeah man, I also noticed the other day some dope computer blip like sounds at the end of 'Ocean Eyes'. So subtle and simple, but the fact Finneas saves it just for the end for that little bit of a highlight. SO GOOD. Yeah me too, it's actually kind of strange how awesome she is/they are (Finneas/Ferbillie) I come from listening to a lot of Punk Rock. She seems to have captured the attention of all sorts of kinds of people.
If u want a couple of suggestions: her Vanity Fair year 3 interview its one of the most popular and u can learn a lot about her rise of fame from 2016 to 2018. For her live performances u HAVE to watch the BRITs No Time To Die for the new 007 movie, she performs it along with Hans Zimmer (the orchestra composer) and Johnn Marr (guitarist from The Smiths) and finneas ofc. its her first time performing it live and she did amazing
lol the fans actually love this song, especially live. finneas doesn't know what he's talking about saying everyone hated it. her performance of it at music midtown and in mexico city were amazing. billie also swears that nobody likes her song ilomilo but the fans love that one too. (ilomilo is a game btw, she talks about it on hot ones)
Yeah, this was actually one of my favorites.Well you definitely can’t please everyone. I am getting about half and half with the responses whether people like it or not. I do rank this one quite highly, probably in my top 10. I was wondering what 'inspired by' meant, if it was actually on the soundtrack of the film, so I googled it - it isn't listed on IMDB as being in the film (and the film is dated a year before this track). Having her songs being so different from each other is one of the (many) things I like about Billie.
This is actually one of my favorites for sure. People don’t like the effects and “auto tune” she put on her voice but I love it. It shows how diverse her music can be. She actually explained on her Instagram post for this song that it was meant to sound robotic and like she was underwater.

"Music Inspired by the movie Roma" is the name of an album. It's not the soundtrack album. Finneas has produced this one using the sounds from the movie. For example, the snare that you liked is actually an altered version of a dog's bark in the movie. Some didn't like the auto-tune on her voice. Some didn't like their attempt at intertwining the song with stereotypical elements from the Latin music. Also, it's the director's request, so it's not 100% authentically inspired by the movie, but I know that Billie and Finneas like the product. I don't know. I found it creative, and I really liked it.

Hi there! I completely forgot about this song. Solely cuz it doesn't rank very high on my list of great songs from her. However, from what I've gathered, it's from the point of view of looking back on your life and reminiscing... I think. Also, the movie didnt have this song in it until after it came out. I looove this song. Its difficult to say where it “ranks” because I basically like every one of her songs to the extent that I’ve listened to them individually on repeat. What I will say, though, is that I have clusters of songs that go together for me. The “badass cluster”, the “alone in the room dance cluster”, the “rip my heart out cluster”, and the “nostalgic cluster”. There are literally only four of her songs which I feel neutral about and wouldn’t even skip these either. But all other songs I’ve listened to on repeat on their own for days at one point or another depending on my mood. Billie really punched this mid-thirties lady in the face with her voice, then ripped out my heart with her lyrics and made me want to move with her badass beats.
