Billionaire Aliko Dangote accuses Nigerian government and IOCs of plotting against Dangote refinery - It is no secret that the rise of wealthy industrialists in developed countries has much to do with government support. Tax breaks, easy access to loans, favourable regulations, and even protection from foreign competition are all tools used to nurture domestic giants that can boost the national economy. However, this strategy seems elusive in Africa. Aliko Dangote, the richest Black man in the world, exemplifies this disparity. Despite his immense contributions to Nigeria's development, his Dangote Oil Refinery is facing immense sabotage from International Oil Companies or IOCs. This reality highlights the challenges faced by African entrepreneurs who may lack the same level of government support enjoyed by their counterparts in wealthier nations.
his startling revelation was made by the Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, Mr Devakumar Edwin while speaking to a group of Energy Editors at a one-day training programme organised by the Dangote Group. He boldly accused International Oil Companies in Nigeria of sabotaging the Dangote Oil Refinery and Petrochemicals by intentionally obstructing the refinery's efforts to purchase local crude. This, he said the firms do by inflating premium prices above market rates, compelling the refinery to reduce its output and import crude from distant countries like the United States, leading to significantly higher costs. Mr . Devakumar Edwin also expressed grave concerns over the activities of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, which he claims is issuing licenses indiscriminately to marketers importing substandard refined products into the country. The Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited further accused IOCs of exploiting Nigeria by exporting raw materials to their home countries, creating employment and wealth abroad, while Nigeria remains dependent on imported refined products. "They are dumping expensive refined products into Nigeria, perpetuating unemployment and poverty here," he lamented. This exploitation strategy, he claimed, has long plagued Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, allowing multinationals to amass wealth at the expense of local economies.

The Nigerian people should unite and rise up on behalf of Nigerians and Black people worldwide.

Rise up against who? This isn`t the way to handle this. We need to develop extracting capacity indigenously. That`s the only way.

I am not surprised. The Western world wants to restrict any progression from an African country. Nigeria must join BRICS as soon as possible with no further delays. Nigeria must pay off all IMF loans a sap and break the foreign shackles holding the country back.

Foreign sabotage as always.
@cnsmiles
@cnsmiles 2 дня назад
Stop protecting domestic actors that are making the sabotage possible by claiming it's the white mans fault. The foreigners are doing what they are supposed to do. Destroy competition at all cost. The problem is the Nigerian government is not doing what it's supposed to do because of their own self interest and jealousy. This wasteful anti white agenda by africans is what creates blinders that prevent us from seeing the enemy from within. Just like in Ghana where we blame the CIA and British intelligence but fail to acknowledge it was our own military that ultimately betrayed Ghana.

On point, Mr.Dankgote. Africa needs to explore it's own solutions and your refinery is testament to this. I hope that you secure the necessary crude and optimise operations at your refinery. If your procedures are honest and correct, no man can stand in your way.....may take a little longer. Congratulations

@fatfarmers7360 I know Nigerian are being prevented from going to countries of their choosing. Some were send back home the moment he landed in Saudi Arabia. It seems the only destination for Nigerians is the US. Nigerians should be able to go wherever they want to go. Also, did they find the children that were kidnapped? All we heard the representative say is the parents should not worry because no child would be left behind. What the heck does this statement mean? Then, a new policy was adapted where people will be arrested if they throw money on the ground, because it’s disrespectful to the currency? What’s the next policy? Nigerians should buy US oil? This man’s business supports many things in Nigeria. What will foreign oil company support? These things destroy countries? not build them up, Tell me what policy did he institute since he came into office? Don’t just get on here and tell me I know nothing. Give your examples of what he did. I’m listening.

@ajitbhoopchand2909
@ajitbhoopchand2909 4 дня назад
The Nigerian government owns 20 percent....not the people in government. The individuals in government tend to derive greater benefits from IOCs as an individual or collection of individuals than as the government of Nigeria. Possibly, investigate the overseas bank accounts of the individuals associated with government.

Please stop all these nonsense. Nigeria is currently producing 1.45mbpd crude oil. Nigeria should invest in drilling for crude oil on onshore oil blocks outside the volatile Nigeria delta pipelines vandals and crude oil theives areas. 70% of Nigerian onshore crude oil wells are 9,000 deep only. Oil riggs drill 200 -300 feet per day. Nigeria should invest in drilling for more crude oil in Anambra, Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, kogi, Nasarawa, Gombe and Bauchi to increase production. No one made senseless Nigeria leaders not to build a single Refinary or reconstruct the old refinaries from 1988 - 2015. They allowed 3.3mbpd crude oil production in 1999 to fall to under 1mbpd since 2015 to 1.45mbpd today. Crude oil drilling riggs are available to buy off the shelf . There are used and reconditioned oil drilling riggs to buy at anytime like used cars.
