@seersha2937 I suppose that if the son wanted the money, he'd have to get rid of the mom too. I've read multiple times, from family and friends, that the mom wasn't the warm and fuzzy type. Maybe there was a lot of resentment. Families can be pretty messy, and the amount of money they had probably made it even more so (my own opinion!)

The reason why the walking person is most likely the murderer is because the person came into the area of the Sherman home but doesn't walk past the home, stays there for a few hours, and then walks back the same way the person came from. I'm from T.O. The Sherman son has added millions to the reward for information - it's now THIRTY-FIVE MILLION (Canadian), a healthy incentive (mentally converted to any denomination you prefer). IMHO, few, if any, Ontarians (or Canadians) are paying more than cursory interest in the case: the general consensus seems to be that it was a professional hit. There are, and will be, no new leads. The person/s who paid for the hit did NOT intend for there to be any "comebacks"! And, there won't be! 🖖❤️🇨🇦

I had to laugh, cuz I looked totally different from when he had seen me last in HS. I've been told that by another person (after that), as well. This case is well known in the Toronto area. I've been following it for years. Kevin Donovan's book ("The Billionaire Murders") on the Sherman case fills in some of the details, for instance, he asserted that the killer(s) knew the Shermans because they used a particular doorway to get in the house that couldn't be seen from the street and was always unlocked. Toronto Police badly botched the investigation. Some evidence was found months later by a private investigator (namely, Honey's pearl necklace which found in drain that ran outside the pool room). TPS were busy investigating serial killer Bruce McArthur and sent inexperienced officers to the the Sherman crime scene because they had already decided it was a murder/suicide. It's also interesting to note that Apotex has now been sold - none of the children were interested in running the company. Nobody knows how much it was sold for, but you can bet it was billions.

@@erdelegy Yes and yes. If you want to use the bible as a guide to morality and follow its instructions then you can't ignore the instructions of not suffering a witch to live and stoning adulterers to death and making someone who r@pes your daughter marry her and many other things that we find repugnant today. So I say treat people fairly and with kindness but don't be a fool and don't let enemies of civilization take over and ruin what good people have built. So if a guy who has gone around his whole life making enemies for profit and he and his wife who has also benefited from his behavior turn up dead I don't want my tax dollars wasted catching the beautiful soul who took the risk of dealing with them. Like Bill Burr said, not all ass kickings fall out of a clear blue sky. I say that when a hit man comes to call in a situation like this he was invited by his targets. Do you really think that innocent people are in danger because of these events? Should someone who uses the legal system as a weapon his whole life be allowed to get away with it? Is a woman who benefits from nefarious gains really innocent? I don't like that this happened but if you don't want people taking the law into their own hands then don't allow litigious bastards to prosper. For anyone in law enforcement or a judge reading this I'm just someone with an opinion and have never nor will I ever be involved in a situation like this. To the detectives who "botched" this case I say well done.

I suspect that whoever killed them was a close relative or friend, because someone close would have more financial and much more emotional motivation to kill Barry. He had many enemies, but there usually isn't enough rage to overcome the social, legal, and moral barriers that prevent outside people from actually killing someone they despise. In addition, the killer knew the layout of the house, was familiar with the statue, and did not have to break in. Honey could have let the killer in, totally trusting whoever it was not to harm her. Finally, who, other than someone close to the victims, be motivated to pose them like the statue, announcing to the world that they are made of garbage, just like the statue? Someone who has much emotion involved.

Regarding the sculpture: I feel it's a real clue. For the killer to pose the bodies the same way as the sculpture tells me whoever killed them was familiar with the sculpture. They studied it, knew the piece well. Which leads me to believe that whoever posed the bodies to match the sculpture was either an intimate family member, a friend, or a close business associate who had spent time at their home. There is an emotional message in it. A stranger or a hired killer or a distant business associate would not have taken the time or even thought about doing that. This killing was planned by someone close to the couple down to the artistic details.

If someone had a vendetta against him , I don't see the advantage of taking her out at the same time. Who would gain from both being dead ? Or who would want both dead ? And the kicker , why would a billionaire who knew he had many enemies , not have a sophisticated alarm system ? Coincidentally we were just watching the podcast by the reporter who wrote a book on this case. Tyvm for your comprehensive research into the background. Our family had a special interest in this case because a pediatric oncologist being sued by the Sherman’s is related to our Godmother. She wrote a book on the shady dealing with Sherman’s drug company and false claims of a drug to treat children with cancer. When you say Sherman may have had the dark triad I bet you hit the nail on the head and I bet there are lots of ppl especially those parents of dead children aren’t loosing sleep over this case. At any rate, you research so comprehensively we learned much more than we knew. It’s odd the realtor didn’t call 911 for 90 minutes or am I missing some details? Also, posing the bodies in the same position as those creepy statues has me wondering if there was a hit man / serial killer? These were two unsavory ppl. Greed and corruption gets ppl killed sometimes. For the lady below who says the victim was kind to her well maybe so but it’s not about her it’s about hundreds if not thousands of victims she/ they were not kind to. Nobody deserves to be murdered but these two probably should have been in jail long ago. There’s also something about this case neither you nor the podcaster mentioned, the original drug company was swindled away from his partner who was the original owners son or nephew ( I forgot) Sherman falsified stuff and ended up selling it without giving the partner a penny. Dark triad I guess!!! He and his wife reaped the benefits from others misfortunes and tragedies

Just one of many (waaaay too many) neglected Toronto/Canada cases. Police initially tried to convince everybody that this was murder-suicide and this is actually how it was publicly announced in main stream media. It wasn't until their children started hiring private investigators and it transpired that it was not suicide at all but a brutal double murder. Police likely intentionally neglected the case and tried to brush it under the carpet, but the couple's kids were very persistent and spoke up in the media. Police reluctantly returned to the case but really nothing is being done. The video you are showing was just recently released, a few years after the murder! Please keep in mind that this is an affluent neighbourhood where ALL houses have security cameras, including the one where the Shermans lived. Here in Canada we are all quite concerned about police hesitancy not only in this case but also increasing daylight crimes, shootings, and stabbings on daily basis. Have you heard about the guy posing as police officer in Nova Scotia and murdering over 20 people in about 24 hours, where multiple emergency calls were made but police decided not to do anything and just let him go on and keep killing random people? No warnings to the public, nothing! Yes, this happened in Canada just a couple of years ago. They are just trying to push general public into silence, and prohibit media from reporting.

with the testimony about Barry's character it seems highly unlikely that there would have been any warmth between him and his son, who 2 weeks before the murders had been asked by Barry to repay a loan for tens of millions of dollars. He would have had easy access to the house and the physical strength to carry through the plan. By eliminating the mother as well he would not only cancel the multi-million dollar loan but inherit hundreds of millions. While others had grudge motives to kill Barry it appears only his son - who may also have hated Barry - had a huge financial motive to take out both his parents. It wouldn't be the first time a son killed his parents for their money - sadly there are many such cases. Perhaps he has a rock solid alibi - that hasn't been said one way or the other - but nobody benefited more from the murders than he did.

I live in the same city and have been following this case from Day 1. The Toronto Police Service couldn't have done a worse job than if it was Chief Clancy Wiggums from the Springfield Police Dept. The chief investigator never showed up at the scene. For 6 weeks, they went with the murder/suicide story, even though it would be a tad difficult to tie a belt around your own neck to a railing, pull your coat down, and cross your legs and die nice and relaxed. All the houses on the street were mansions with security cameras. The police didn't start canvassing for security footage until after these cameras would have recorded over the footage from the night of the crime scene. Whomever ordered the hit must a tremendous amount of wealth and power themselves. They had to be 100% certain that the crime would never be tracked back to them. No one with that kind of wealth and power would ever risk spending a day in jail, much less a life sentence. Did they have enough power to influence the police department? It would appear plausible. An average person off the street that has watched crime shows on tv would have done a better job. Suicide? Waiting until the neighbourhood cameras were recorded over? The head homicide inspector not even bothering to go to the scene? Either this is the luckiest hitman in the world, or someone pulled some strings. Take your pick. The four kids probably didn't do it because they were already living lavish lifestyles and were going to inherit everything anyway. Why take a risk? The cousins were pissed off at Barry for screwing them out of the first pharma company they were all involved in, but killing Barry isn't going to put a single dollar in their pockets, and they probably weren't rich enough to be able to afford this kind of caper. That leaves as suspects, a disgruntled owner of a competing pharma company that Barry screwed over with a patent, or something along those lines.

I don’t believe in altruism either. This statement requires careful explanation. It’s not that I don’t think that giving away money or doing things for people is a good idea. I do. And in fact I give away money, time, and effort fairly frequently. What I mean is that I don’t believe in the concept of altruism. When I give away my time effort or money, I feel good. I feel like I did something good and that I’m a good person. Other people think that about me too and I know that. So I’m not really doing something and getting / expecting nothing in return as would be the definition of altruism. I am getting something in return and I know in advance that I’m going to be getting it. So when I do this, it’s not true altruism. I have my doubts that anyone can do anything that is truly altruistic. Of course I could be wrong about that.

I think the Sherman's were posed to look like the creepy mannequins to mock them rather than inspiration by the murderer. The Sherman's kids apparently hated the mannequins. Whoever did this had intimate knowledge of the home...how to access this home almost undetected and exit the same way. They knew their schedule for that day, as they were very busy people and likely knew no family members or friends would be over on that day. I do think this has to do with money...and the murder is very personal in nature...why the police waited four years to release the video of the walking man is unbelievable. This investigation was bungled from the beginning, and it appears the police that stated it was a murder/suicide is still somewhat on the case. Also the person in charge did not appear at the scene for 3 days after the fact...and has since been promoted as well as some of the others. Unfortunately this may never be resolved as the police didn't announce it was a targeted murder until after a second autopsy some 6 weeks later...not properly collecting evidence or taking finger prints or contacting people who had been in the house. Unfortunately there may have been DNA or evidence missed as a result. Now that the house has been torn down...everything that was in it has now been destroyed. Very sad!!! Also makes you wonder what other cases may have been botched as well. Considering how much money the family has now inherited a 35 million reward is a drop in the bucket. I hope someone does come forward with some information and resolve this case.

House was bulldozed, shocked me because DNA is often found years later. The land was sold for over $4ml.

Winding up selling the property? The potential buyers didn't know about the deaths at that point.
