Now THAT is an awesome truck!! I've always liked the looks of Federal trucks along with Diamond T's. Federal actually made pickups as well from around 1935 until 1950. They are exceedingly rare to find now. One pickup they made is the rarest of them all, a 1950 M-15 one-ton with a special 14' long bed. I believe it was made for an awning company and it still exists. Probably in a private collection. You may want to think about installing HD air bags in the back to prevent bed sag while hauling a heavy load. The bed is getting awfully close to your rear tires. My Ram 3500 dually has HD rear bags with an on board compressor. It really helps when hauling a full stock trailer down the road. Actually, both of my diesel trucks have bags. Anyway, great truck!! Nice job on the mods!!

Ya'll did her proud with the face-lift, but I'm a sucker for old, and dinosaur juice power. Sounds like the gearing worked just right. Did the rear tires stay same or did y'all go bigger like the front? My first memories as a little kid are of riding with my grand paw in his old Chevy log truck bouncing down the road. I even remember falling out the passenger door. Seems that they had a step built inside the cab of those old trucks, and my little brother was sitting in the middle next to my grand paw so he didn't fall over since he wasn't much more than a baby just starting to walk good.. I'm not but 15 months older, so I probably was close to 4 years old if that old, maybe little older. The way the step was inside the cab I had room to actually sit with my legs between the seat and the door so I could watch for whatever a kid that young looks for, but I seem to remember that if I sat sideways, then I could actually see instead of looking at the dash. Anyways those old trucks used the door handles to lock the doors, and we were just idling down the long driveway when it happened. I am fairly certain he locked the door, but I guess I was holding on to it, and when it swung open I held on to it long enough to swing way out to land on my butt clear of the tandem rear tires. I don't know for sure, but I imagine he seen it open, and jammed on the brakes, because as I said I landed several feet away from the truck. Before I think I even had a chance to start crying he had me up in his arms checking me out. Now since you don't know, he was 6'6", and looked like a giant next to anyone else. So when you're as young as I was, even though I have always been big for my age. It's like you're hundred feet in the air when he picked you up. But I survived, and missed that ride, because he gave me to my granny to check me out better. Needless to say, I never sat sideways again when I rode with him, and that's my memory of those old trucks from the 40's and 50's if in fact it was that old.

In the state that I reside in, I can get away with a lack of emission control for now. The same can't be said for all of the USA.

I made it to about 1:30. I can't stomach taking proud old working trucks and dumping them on pickup frames. Completely neuters them. That Federal as it was built was bad to the bone. Shaking my head

I can understand your feelings. However, this truck gets shown quite a bit, and in my opinion, the attention that it gets going down the road and at shows brings more people into the hobby. It was our goal to keep it as "stock looking" as we could but to make it drivable at a long distance. Sometimes you have to sacrifice some to save others in the future.

Y'all did a fine job transplanting the body onto something that's usable in todays traffic. Not that there wasn't some head scratchin', but it all worked out. Good job, I like your nice relaxing style...makes it fun! Keep the clean side up.
