Will this 1953 Chevy 1 ton truck run and drive after sitting for over 20 years with a locked up engine Will it run Will it run after 30 years Will it run after 50 years Will it run after 81 years Will it run after 75 years
I’m a old man here in Texas and I got to say I always watch your videos and really enjoy them and I can’t believe you get some of those 80 and 90 year old engines running but you do and that amazing to me.
As a Brit, I absolutely love this guy's accent and banter. I could listen to him chinwag all day. I believe it's a southern dilect? He's obviously also a great mechanic too.
@@rc-daily I would love to know what he does with all these trucks. Some of the 30s fords with the flat heads v8s are fantastic. He must have a restoration shop or something.
@@spaceghost8995 Nah, watch some of his other videos. This thing is basically fresh off the showroom floor compared to most of what he's managed to get running.
Man you amaze me! You remind me so much of myself. I’m 67 now and been fixing crap that wouldn’t run for years. Keep up the fantastic work there just aren’t to many more of us left.
I had a old 1949 chevrolet same show, locked up, diesel down the plug hole for a few days, new points, cleaned out the carburettor, through a 1rd of a cup of petrol down it and off she went beautiful old trucks tough as nails
that truck’s got some style. i don’t know what style that would be but it’s definitely got some. lol. love the shots of it when you’re trying to get it to roll and the smoke is just rising up from everywhere. -she really does want to live.
Man, I love seeing these old relics come to life, throwing smoke signals and everything else! I think this is your best truck ever...or actually the Diamond T protect is probably the best, the old Ford AA is right up there too. Thanks for all the great content!
Fun fact, that six cylinder GM engine in this truck was first designed in 1927 and was in continuous production up until 2002 and lastly by Toyota. Toyota ran this design from 1955 until 2002 😉
Those 1 ton engines usualy are 261's, and got used alot to build the blueflame version. My Dad put one in his 55 1st 1/2 ton Chevy. Guy needs to give that distributor, some ajusting. :}
Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I have been suffering terribly with depression over the last few years. But watching your videos has been really helping me venture ever so slowly back into the things i used to enjoy! The main one being, working on old cars. I really appreciate it mate! Thanks!
This dude reminds me of my uncle he's super smart, when I was little my dad said nothing beats a old school car they didn't have all these electronics & sensors. Now I know what he meant any who good job making these girls run again giving them another life these car today wouldn't last that long with or without maintenance I love ya videos how you explain things I watch all your videos multiple times... get them girls fired up
This one made me think of how I did this to our 51 GMC Freezer Truck when I was 15! She needed to move after 30+ years of holding Ice Cream behind our Market and I took on the challenge. It went just like this but used a giant screwdriver to kick the starter . I finally drove her with square tires about a mile to her new resting place where the buyer pulled the freezer box off and used it while the Truck was sold off. She was a genuine Knudsen milk truck from 51! In 50 years she only had 28K!
My grandfather had an older GMC farm truck early 50’s, floor shift. Drove it in his 80’s , always started it in gear never using the clutch! He also had a 50 mercury car 4 door. He passed away while I was in the Navy and they were sold cheap to a local car collector who knew they would be worth money someday. Always wished I could have got them.
It's backfiring through the carburetor may need to adjust the timing it will stop that spiting coming out of the carb great job though enjoyed hearing it run again your a awesome mechanic
Much respect for how you understand these old vehicles and bring them back to life. This truck would make a fun project for someone to restore as a rat truck. I like it.,
I've been watching you so much lately I'm finishing your sentences lol! I know a bit about cars but you're a good teacher. I'm learning a lot by watching your videos. I'm glad I have some background otherwise I'd be clueless! I like your optimistic approaches when thing look bleak or just plain hopeless. Thanks for all your time making these! I don't care if it fires or not, but I get happy hearing it finally turning over!
The best part of my week so far. Your videos make my evening every time. I call this a total success. It would drive, and the bed is probably just low on oil, the PTO and pump worked perfectly
I sure do like that GMC. Back in the late 80s I found a 1950 gmc 1/2 ton short, side step pu and was able to trade for it with a 1963 buick special I had gotten for free, but it had no interior whatsoever. That 1950 gmc was in great shape, and the interior was all remarkably in nice shape other than the seat, which I replaced.. I put a lot of work into it and then 3 years later the transmission went and i could not get one anywhere at the time in my area, and there was no Internet, and I didn't know anything about finding parts across the country. I wound up selling it for about $1,000 to a guy for his son.. I still miss that truck, wish I'd held onto it, but had nowhere to keep it. Edit: the Buick was a 64' not 63'
You gotta have a part 2 to this gem ! I hope to see you driving it around so I am in favor of you getting the cooling system done and drive it like you stole it.
Good morning from Cape Cod ⚓ this will it start when surprisingly well. That GMC certainly has some potential, it runs and sort of drives and the dump body still works. Thanks for all the effort you put into bring us these awesome videos 👍✌️🇺🇲
You have the patience of Job, as I've said before. It always elevates my mood with someone with such an unrelentingly positive outlook gittin' 'er dun!!!!😃
What a fuckin beaut. I just said to my daughter "Imagine driving that, bodywork like it is, that patina, but the oily stuff, brakes and suspension all sorted, through Birkenhead" Nodded in agreement (14 yo)
