Titles read: "We now present a topical mixture of Billy Cotton and his Band, (with Arthur Rosebery and his Band) - (Filmed at Slough)".
Slough, Berkshire (was Buckinghamshire).
Various shots of Billy Cotton and his Band playing (and singing) 'I'm Just Wild About Harry'. People in evening dress stand and watch beside the band. We then see Russell, Marconi and Jerry performing their act; one man plays the accordion while the other plays the violin (they have the audience howling with laughter during this), then a blonde American girl joins them and does some silly chat with them. She then does an energetic little tap dance routine.
The combined dancing troupes of the Victoria and Astoria Girls high kick their way onto the dance floor and do a pretty dull routine to 'Marching Along Together'. Next we see soprano Rose Perfect singing 'Song of Songs' to the accompaniment of the band, who read their music laid out before them on the floor.
(Followed by Pathetone end titles.)
Note: although the title mentions Arthur Rosebery and his Band, it is not clear where (or if) they appear in this film.
Film was transferred out of synch and is being retransferred - 17/1/2001.
Dupilcates of Billy Cotton (in synch!) and Rose Perfect exist in Film I.D. 2899.13 (Turns Can 13) - see separate record for details.
FILM ID:1074.24

Billy Cotton had a long-lived, nationwide, radio show back aways;...( wakey waaaay-kee! )...but his band was superb, as here with 'I'm Just Wild About Harry'.

I disagree about your comments that the dancing was dull. Far from it! It was complex and look at those high kicks! I enjoyed it.

For those who can't figure out why the audience is laughing so hard, look at the accordionist's pants.
