As a native Hindi speaker, some of these pronounciations are really easy for me. Like the eu vowel(simple horizontal line), it sounds just the same as one of the vowels in Hindi. Thanks for the videos, Billy :))

This is so helpful! I casually learned to read 한글 a few years ago as a teen but never learned it "properly". The sound differences are so much easier to tell apart now! after learning all the way from the first lesson to this lesson Im actually able to read, "well then, see you again next time" at the end of your video in korea without even realizing :O

Just yesterday I watched 현우 산생님's video, the one where you visited him on your last day in Korea and I felt like I fried my brain. 😂. So I could "hear" the difference, for example when you said 영 and 용 but I couldn't hear the difference when I "said" it, but now I see that 오 is a somewhat more base sound than 어. So thank you very much for that Billy.

Lesson 5: recognizing, reading and writing ✅ I had no problem hearing the difference between ㅗ and ㅓ, but I struggled so much with remembering (으) I still sometimes get it wrong😭🥺

this ones very challenging, have to keep playing this on repeat for the first couple minutes. having fun tho!

Hey Billy loving your classes so far making my pronunciations better and one more as an Indian I'm akso a native hindi speaker ofcourse you said don't romanize Korean sounds as they only create confusions plus we don't have the English alphabets that fit exactly the Korean pronunciations but I feel if I connect the hindi sounds we have in our language with the Korean sounds I feel better.. As for 어 we have ऑ for 우 we have उ And many more which make the same sounds.... thus it's easy to differentiate between Korean sounds...all thanks to you what a clear pronounciation you have!!!

As a Dane, some of these pronunciations that others have to practice more, I find extremely easy since they are almost pronounced the same way as letters in my language:) Like 어 is pronounced like å, 으 is pronounced like æ so it’s very easy to remember for me

People usually don't believe me when I tell them they do sound different, but they do! After some years of practice I can clearly hear it.

If you are an Indian so it is really easy to learn this hangul what is consonant cause the pronunciation are same as our swar and vyanjan it was really easy but it is also confused because there are so many pronunciation and other type of work but some are similar to each other so this is why it is little bit confusing but if you will concentrate then it will be very easy and thank you for this series Billy ... it is super easy and it is also so helpful that is a good thing... I think by knowing Hindi it is bit more easier to learn korean as in hindi there are different letters for these kind of different sounds 😌😌😌😌

This lesson was difficult, but knowing Romanian and Russian helped me with some sounds that are not present in English :)

Gosh, what would be really great is if I had these videos in supplement to a brick and mortar class with you. haha. I found some very intelligent, skilled tutors out here but they all seem to share that hardcore pile of homework mentality OR! just chat a little for whatever amount of time I pay for.

The way I learned, the vowels in these two words are pronounce differently. In the word for pen 펜, it takes on the same sound as English. But the word for dog 개 the sound is similar to the a in "hay" but shorter like in "cat" if that makes sense. I've heard some of the vowels combined with W have no real distinction when pronounced. So many subtleties in Korean, some more important than others.

going to Korea next June.... wish me luck. I think learning how to read can help when trying to find a place, name of foods, numbers etc. I was so lost last time I went to Japan. We couldn't read anything. so I imagine that if I learn the name of places or food or numbers I will be able to read them. I have a whole year. lets see what happens.

i have watched this soooo many times but cant seem to get it in my brain. i know 80% of hangul but struggling with mainly these ones. I know how to say like hello/goodbye/goodnight and basic things like that but my memory is like a potato XD

Hello. I am going slowly through this series. Love all the work you put in! Question on this video. At 9:35 why is the second example sounding like YAH? It seems I am hearing the vowel and not the consonant?

For me, the confusion isn't between 어 and 오 but between 어 and 아. To me they sound very similar and it took me a while to get them straight.

14:36 It seems that 's' doesn't only turn into a 'sh' sound, but that for most of the pronunciation in the bottom row the 'y' sound disappears as well. Is that correct? And is that always the case? [So for example instead of "shyu", you said "shu". I think I could only hear the 'y', when you said the last one, i.e. 'shyae'. Hope I am making sense. :)] Thanks!
