One time someone in my class said “I love Billy” and I said that I did too. They asked me my favorite song and I said that it was either Only the Good Die Young or Scenes from an Italian Restaurant. They were very confused, laughed and walked away. I then realized that they were talking about Billie Eilish. My Billy is better though ❤️

This came out in 1977 when I was 13, the year I was Confirmed as a Catholic. Went through 12 years of Catholic schools. I would dance around to this song in my room. I wouldn't play this album though when Mom was home. I did and still feel a bit guilty for loving this song. From a huge Catholic family, I'm still Catholic but I believe God has a sense of humor. This is such a brilliant song and so catchy. Love the piano at 2:58 Billy Joel used to be Catholic but is now an atheist. That's really sad. With everything going on in the world today, the famine, the illnesses, the wars the prophesies in the Bible are coming to fruition. I'm so grateful I was born when I was. The 60's and 70's were fantastic times to be a kid. Pure and innocent. Nothing like kids have to deal with today. My heart goes out to them, honestly. As awesome as this song is, older I get, I'd much rather cry with the Saints. I don't see much laughing happening hanging out with ghouls like Putin and Hitler. As much as we all love this song, it's just a fun song. Don't take it too seriously. Still love this song though. What I know about Billy Joel is that he was out on the streets with me when I was a runaway . and I heard the song ' Just the way You are ' and I always thought this dude was cool . The amount of stories I could relate would fill up a book haha I do love that instance where he was in Russia and got pissed off at the lighters He was screaming " quit lighting the audience ! " and then he proceeded to destroy the stage yeah I like this guy a lot

You know I'm mostly into punk, rap and alt rock. But every night I turn off the lights and just listen to Billy Joel, sit in my bed for a while and just think about life. I look out my window and I just stare at the moon, let the music sink into my brain. I relate to his music more so than any other artist. I'm at my most introspective when I turn on his music.

This has been my motto for years and although, yes, I had "heard" the song a time or two in my 32 years of life, I had never really heard heard Billy Joel until a few weeks ago. I was immediately angry at the uncles that raised me on classic rock and roll. Never had they played me Billy Joel while explaining to me why he was one of the greats. Possibly even the GOAT. Needless to say, I've had my Billy Joel playlist on repeat for a month and a half. Lol.
