This is from his album The Stranger. I bought it when it came out and I swear I wore a hole in it. It's just that good. He's one of my favorites.

Saw him twice: once with Elton John during the "Face to Face" tour and once at Nationals Park in DC. He's amazing at both an indoor and outdoor venue! My favorite musician.

My father and I had a tough relationship, but my best memories with him are riding in his firebird listening to Billy on 8-track tapes, yes 8-tracks. ☺ I'm old. ✌

He is very entertaining in concert! He plays the piano, keyboards, harmonica, guitar, and accordion. He goes into the audience, he jumps off the piano, he climbs up audio cables and runs around on stage. Of course, this was when he was younger. But overall he is a great performer/entertainer.

First started to listen to Billy Joel when I was 11. I’m now 50. The man is a genius. So many great songs to listen to. She’s Got a Way. You’re My Home. Innocent Man. The list goes on and on and on.

That was amazing. The sax was so smooth. Listened to it as a family friend when we drove to the beach in Hawaii.

Met the man nearly 30 years ago when I was a kid. He was just amazing. I was the only one he met with his band. He told me his stuff sucked and play classical music. His people took pictures and sent them to me snail mail. He is just priceless.

Billy Joel was my first concert! Hamilton, Ontario 1989. No opening act, just 3 and a half hours of incredible music.

Last fall one of our 23 year old twin sons said that he was going to be in Dallas near to where we live, but wouldn't be able to come see us as it was just a quick trip (he works in Florida). When we asked him the reason for the trip, he said he was going to a Billy Joel concert. I guess we raised him right!!! 😉

There is nothing better than seeing Billy Joel perform live! When he sings Piano Man the entire stadium sings and he just plays the piano. I have seen him 5 times live and loved everyone of the times. You're the best and God bless.

I grew up with Billy Joel's music. He is from Long Island and came from Hicksville, a town very close to mine. In this song he makes a few references to places where all the kids hung out back in the day, like the Village Green and Parkway Diner. He was in his prime in the late 70s, when his two masterpiece albums came out. The Stranger and 52nd St. You should listen to both albums, you will really enjoy them and they sound great on a good stereo system. I have seen him many times and his concerts were always great, especially back in the 80s at the height of his popularity.

I got the album "The Stranger" when I was in High School, then saw this concert tour in 1982. I loved it so much, I taught myself how to play piano and became a Dueling Piano Player for many years, doing this and many other Billy Joel songs.

Billy Joel sings for us all. His lyrics and voice tell our stories. Nothing like a sing along ....great friends, old memories, couple of drinks , and billy Joel songs.... we can all connect and relate. Whether you graduated high school in 1980 or 2010.... we all knew a Brenda and Eddie.

I worked with someone who was close friends with Billy just before he became famous. He would play me some of Billy's music that he had on his personal cassette recordings in his car when he picked me up for work. He asked me if I wanted to help him set up Billy's equipment at a local college he was playing. I declined because I was only 15 at the time and felt embarrassed going to the college with all the older kids. That Fall I left that job to go back to school. Billy was on the radio shortly after. Damn! It would have been awesome to have met him.

I discovered Billy Joel when I was in high school and Glass Houses was released. From there, I moved backwards through his catalogue and I was hooked, man. Saw him in concert twice and the energy he put into those performances was incredible. He'd have several difference keyboards set up around the stage and around his band and he'd dash from one to the other and engage with audience members on every side of the stage. Meanwhile, of course, his band was SOLID! This was back when it was still his original group, including Richie Cannata on sax. I knew every song and I don't think my ass touched the seat at all once the concert began. lol Great stuff. I'm sorry his people are so strict about blocking videos but I'm glad to see folks like you are working around that and putting this stuff back out there.

One of my favorite Billy Joel songs from my favorite Billy Joel album!! This was great even though video blocked. Btw He’s 70 years old still selling out Madison Square Garden putting on 2 hour shows singing, playing piano and harmonica at the same time and also dancing occasionally on stage. Crazy energy and talent. My favorite!! Saw him about 15 years ago. Wish I could relive it. Real music right here. Thank you!!

I've seen him 5 times in concert! It was just always a part of my growing up years. I can't even remember the first time I heard it. My brother had the album and played it all the time!!

I saw Billy Joel and Elton John in Sydney in 1998. Maybe the best concert I've been to and this song may have been the best song in the concert.

He’s such a great musical story teller, his lyrics give you a vivid picture of the tale he’s singing. My favourites, Piano man (of course!) Allen town, Goodnight Saigon and The longest time. A great, great performer.😎

Man, this brings me back to my childhood when my older brothers would be playing stickball with their friends in the street in front of our house in New Jersey while I (the little sister) sat on the curb watching, with the 8-track music player listening to this song. Best memories ever!!! ❤️

I first saw him in Chattanooga TN in 1988 when I was 18 yrs old and last saw him at Madison Square Garden two years ago. Live is MUCH better. Helped to pay the rent for many years playing his songs on a piano in a lounge, restaurant or at parties.

I've seen Billy Joel several times here in Australia. He used to tour here regularly. I saw him one in England when I lived there too. He's amazing live. In my humble opinion, while he has many fantastic Scenes From Italian restaurant masterpiece.

I got to see him live in late 80’s or early 90’s, can’t remember exactly, lol. It was fabulous! Saw it with my husband and my mom. It’s tied as my favourite concert of all time, along with The Eagles and Paul McCartney.

I saw Billy Joel and Elton John together at Madison Square Garden,New York about 25 years ago.The lights were dim,and somebody started playing a piano,then someone else started playing a second piano.Dueling kick ass pianos in the dark,and we could not tell which was Billy and which was Elton.Two masters lighting up the stage!🎹🎙🎶🤯

Go find the video of Billy at Vanderbilt U, where the guy comes and asks to play his song. It's unbelievable. And yes, I got this album when it came out in 1977. This was always this best song.

I saw him in concert last year in Dallas. He's still great. Hopefully this pandemic is over soon so he can continue his Madison Square Garden Residency. I would love to go to NYC for that!

Saw Billy a number of times here down under. One of the best concerts I saw was Billy and Elton John doing a concert together at the MCG. Sound quality was a bit dodgy but these two together were great.

My High School boyfriend, in 1978 was a metal head & told me I wasn't allowed to play Billy Joel or Bruce Springsteen in his car. I broke up with him. LOL!! You're right about live performances. A long time ago we went to the Country Fair and the musical act was Huey Lewis and the News. I was not much of a fan of his, but that concert was still one of the best I've ever seen. 100% better than the studio stuff.

His piano playing always blows me away. So effortless. So smooth. So perfect. That sax can take me deep into the night. Love it. The sax qualifies it as a night time song in my book. Driving song that is. Windows down. Good job Cara!

Grew up with Billy being one of my mums favourites. Had the pleasure of buying her front row tickets to one of his Australian shows in 2008. One of the best shows ever. Scenes is my all time favourite song from Billy and I certainly got up and danced when it was being played. Glad you enjoyed it.

I was fortunate enough to see Billy Joel live just a few years ago when he came through my hometown, and let me tell you, he STILL has it! His voice is still amazing, his musicianship is still off the charts, and he has an awesome sense of humor. (He really engaged with the audience, more so than most bands/artists I've gone to see.) So if you ever DO get the chance to see him live, I'd highly recommend it. Also, keep diving down this rabbit hole, because it's totally worth it! Saw Billy Joel in concert in Anaheim California about 15 years ago, he was amazing. Also the wife and I attended a musical at a theater in Riverside based off of his catalogue of music and it was better than I had expected. He’s a musical legend as far as I’m concerned.

So glad you did this one. It’s a classic and one of my favorite of Billy’s. I discovered Billy Joel at an early age. I think I was 11 or so. And by the time I was 15 I was working on collecting every album he had released (on cd.) He’s an amazing pianist and phenomenal storyteller. They actually made a Broadway show using his songs that I saw. So good!

My wonderful wife bought tickets to Billy Joel and Elton John head to head. We saw it at Rice Stadium (the same place that JFK gave his "we choose to go to the Moon" speech. I do love Billy's music. Ty, you are right I would much rather see a video from a concert than a Studio version of a song. Billy is a master of his craft.

The Italian restuarant was Christianos in Syosset NY . Close to where I live. Cute place. I got tickets to a concert for Christmas. I fell over I was so happy it was late 80s

I was lucky enough to see him in concert a few times, he always had a great show. Being from New York he was our hometown boy. As teen and young adult I always had to see him if he was performing.

I've seen Billy live probably more than fifteen times. I was lucky enough to have gone to high school and been in band with David Brown. David was a senior when I was a freshman. He moved from our small town of Merrimac Massachusetts to NYC. He was in a club band in 79' when a guy walked up and said "Hi. I'm Phil Ramone, Billy Joel's producer. To which Dave replied "Hi. I'm Jesus Christ." But it really was the legendary Ramone and he was looking for a great rock guitarist for the upcoming album Glass Houses. Two months later David was touring in Japan with Billy Joel. I would go to shows with David's sister Deanna and brother Derek sometimes. Go back stage, to the hotels. I was living the dream man. I actually went on the beer run and set up a thirty fifth birthday party for Billy at David's parents house in our home town. That band was better live. They did crazy things on stage. I saw Billy and the drummer Liberty Devito destroy each others equipment piece by piece in the middle of a song. Those were the good old days of rock and roll.
