Billy was also always the nicest, soft spoken, humble, and always the most talented person in the room. He used to say putting the tambourine on a track was to ‘sanctify’ it, as he always stayed close to his Gospel roots. We all have our demons we fight.
Great point. All that staged and carefully planned "spontaneity." Then you watch this. Fucking guy is cranking and singing without any computerized bullshit.
This man was a genius. Incredible piano player, fantastic vocals, fabulous writer, sense of humor, energy, humble guy... I adore him. Pity he left us too soon 😢
honestly this type of performance could inspire *anyone* to be a musician. Billy and his group really loved what they were doing and you can see that here.
Nothing but JOY. I was fortunate to see Billy perform three times: As an opening act for Grand Funk, with George Harrison in 1974, and with the Rolling Stones in 1975. He was brilliant in all three capacities - so thankful for him.
I was born in that era, the music was great. This Sunday I’ll be 77 years old and my heart will rock on the beach in Brigantine, New Jersey. Family and friends will eat, drink and listen to many Rock & Roll Bands, toes in the sand and my shaken body in my wheelchair.💃❤️✝️🇺🇸
Mr. Billy Preston...a brilliant artist, classicly trained and kicks ass in Rock Soul and Funk by sheer talent from a higher power. his songs just make me wanna smile...just look at him, he's smiling and having a awsome time, pure fun for him...effortless fun
Billy and I grew up in the same part of Los Angeles, although I am 30 years younger. And as a huge Beatles fan, I always admired him. The most talented of the "fifth Beatles" :) (Sutcliffe, Martin, Best, etc.)
Brought me back so many good memories saw him many times the positive energy and charisma RIP Billy thanks for making me smile and honestly you couldn't not dance
This is a good thing. My family went out to dinner at Sizzler in (MARIN, CALIFORNIA). SPACE RACE COME ON. THEY GUY AT THE NEXT TABLE AND I WERE JAMMING. MY MOM DIDN'T KNOW I KNEW. R.I.P. BILLY. Have my son on old school music.
He was the best and it...does hurt...when people like Mr. Preston is taken away. I know we will all miss him. But like he said: "nothing from nothing" right, my soul hurts.
Along with "Then Came You" by Dionne Warwick & The Spinners, this song took the furthest jump from the Billboard Hot 100's #1 position. After a single week at #1, it went directly to #15, & is one of the 9 songs to leave the Hot 100's top-10 directly after being at #1.
What a great lesson for the young people who want something without putting something in. Listen people. You get out according to what you put in -- over time.
thank you for this video....never knew who sang this song from my childhood days.....now i know.....bless the good old days...no Dj are superstars....who wudda thought
You're so right He's the Man! The songs they played with him sound so funky and groovy, he really brought something to their sound as the band were slowly splitting.
rusty lee it was said on of the reasons George wanted him at the let it be recording sessions because it made them behave with one another and prevent infighting. Billy the peacemaker an awesome musician
I saw him with the stones in Ft. Collins 1975. He played keys for them and did a couple of his hits. Another person also played piano at that show, some guy called "Reg from Watford." Mick never said his stage name, but I had met him a year before and recognized him.
