@Keith Morgan. I kept thinking that he was such a religious man, Southern Baptist, right? Not that Christians or Baptists don't smoke but where I live, around 175 miles from where Billy grew up, it's really frowned upon, particularly in the black Southern Baptist community. So I thought you were wrong but then I remembered when the Stones came here, to Texas in 1975 to San Antonio for 2 nights. Preston smoked so much off and onstage that had he not been as famous the Stone's might have fired him. Thanks, Keith, I'd forgotten about that.
I had the pleasure to see Billy Preston in 1975 at Stuttgart soccer stadium and the hash filled the air, he ran around the stage with the keyboard around his neck I was in the 2nd and the 5th artillery regiment and will never forget it
This is a bad ass mix If this ever disappears, I'm gonna' repost it for Humanities sake. So far, I've been a checkin' several times a day (joke, kinda). Thanks man.
He's an entertainer like no other I remember listening to him to the early '70s and honestly I couldn't tell you if you was black white Puerto Rican Chinese or whatever but I could tell you this he was talent...
Friends, if you want to see the highest level of skill and intuition on the keyboard there are very few in the rock genre and Billy Preston is one of them !!
George Harrison was who suggested Billy has played with them, He was the fifth Beatle, A big master at the keys. That time he recorded Let it be by using a Fender Rhodes.
Sure, he was also with them on the roof concert, those brilliant riffs in Get Back are his. However most of the time he's right behind Paul and only peeps from behinds Macca's back for coupla seconds
I enthusiastically forget all of my abilities and just mash the piano trying to imitate Billy. This man just casually destroyed the keyboard and helped the Beatles like it was nothing.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching the crowd justa movin' and a groovin' while Billy was jammin'!!! Brings back carefree memories of going out to the discos back in the 70's! REALLY REALLY GOOD TIMES!!
Hare Krishna! George Harrison took him along to the White House in 1974... (President's son invited George, as he was a Huge Fan! And generous George took not only Billy, but Ravi Shankar and his father (George's)... Hare Krishna!
❣️ Prolific incredible, piano player, Billy Preston . And his voice and lyrics.. exceed, the other talented...always. Our Fifth Beatle. Sir William Preston.
He started with Little Richard when he as 15 years old! Probably played more gospel than anything. Usually in the shadows he should've stayed out front. Genius writer! Died way too young from kidney failure. Still tops my list of best of shows!!!!
Went with George Harrison to the White House in '74 as invited by the President's son! Hare Krishna... We love you Billy. Your music is timeless. 🌟💙🌹💙🌹💙🎈🌟
@@edd7812 Yup. They were a little more eccentric for lack of a better word. Myself, I was wondering what it took someone 6 months to point that out. I'm just as guilty because I probably wouldn't have noticed but yeah, somebody needed to explain that one. Glad you did.
@@robertmayes5232 yes, different styles....the Stones would benefit from Hopkins more than Preston. Funk vs Blues. Really depends on what sound the artist wants. Steve Vai probably would not be a good replacement for Malcom Young for example.
Remember A Great Song ☕ Nothing From Nothing - Billy Preston 🇺🇸 / 🎼 / 🎹 (Soundzy Remix) 🙂 He Play (Beatles) Get Back 'Solo' Organ (1969) - & R Stones (73 / 76) 😉 Manu

George Harrison... He is friend of HARE KRISHNA PEOPLE 🥳 and we invite everyone, anyone, everybody to be always wealthy in the happiness of loving Krishna. That's the real wealth, because without loving Krishna, there's no wealth that brings happiness..... George took Billy to the White House when he got the invitation from the President's son in 1974.... 🎈🥳Happy new year 2023!
