Classic Hunter lyrics. To me, Kreutzman is the best at playing drums on Robert Hunter songs. Man, would I love to have heard the Dead play this tune. You can hear Billy Strings with a bit of an homage to the Dead's style with his solo starting at 2:13 as well as throughout with some of his fills. Perhaps it's Hunter's lyrics that compel that style of playing. Thunder on the mountain without a hit of rain....
Billy wrote an excellent piece of music that compliments these exceptional lyrics by Robert Hunter. I personally prefer his acoustic group's performance of the composition.
Billy Strings is fantastic and just aced putting music to Hunter's words.... but in this amazing performance all those guys are integral imo. Could listen to this lineup all day!
@@dackmont got to see them at red rocks after watching this performance. I was compelled. Best postdead iteration. Wish this was a regular thing I could go see. Feeling grateful for what I did get to see. 👏
@@MDeezy42069 Let the Great Biily Strings take the front spot which he did. How could he not. Billy has his own band and tour which is far superior to this band.
Was getting to many jerry comparisons and didnt want to be known as a dead cover band he will do them again eventually just not nearly as much again he still does garcia stuff from time to time
@faaaaaaaaaaack you're close. The song was played a decade before Billy K gave it to Billy S to take a shot at a rewrite. Yes Hunter wrote it but he never gave it to Billy S. Even William Apostal tells the tale of the day Billy K gave him the call. Either way none of this changes the fact that Tom can, at times, sound like Hunter. I'd like to hear him sing it. I've heard Hunter sing, I'd like to hear Tom give it a whirl.
