There are some outstanding musicians on that stage but must say Michael Cleveland on fiddle is on a totally different level. This guy must be from a different planet to play like that. Born legally blind and deaf in one year he's absolutely the best that bluegrass has to offer.
So much talent up there!! A genuine "changing of the guard" is taking place!, and I'm happy to see it passing to such talented youngsters. On a side note, I can't help but hope playing these old-timey gospel tunes might soften Billys' heart to The Lord a little.
Same here! I also am a Gramma. used to play with my dad and relatives when I was ten or so, real friends and family hoedowns in our house. I miss that a lot, and Billy and friends help fill me up! Thanks to all who support and enjoy him as much as we do!
Today I turned 71yrs old. I've been messing around with guitars all my life. I can't claim to be any good, but I can pick a little, and I'd give my eye tooth to sit in with them one session. Many blessings to you.
I've been binge watching his shows and it is something that always stands out to me. Whether his own band or guests sitting in with them. He is just genuinely pleased to see others get some spotlight and enjoys their playing.
Im heading from Pittsburgh to Savannah tomarrow by way of the Shenandoah valley. Bluegrass all the way. My gf is going to hate me. But im sure the baby is going to love it. He loves when i sing.
I rebut: Dirt Band, "Will the Circle", vol 2 1989. Check it out, CASH, Acuff, Earl, Prine, Emmylou, Skaggs, Roger McGuinn, Marty Stewart, the list goes on. But this might be in the running for second.
The look of joy on his face as Billy watches others shine is awesome . Everytime I see him play with other musicians he has that smile like a kid in a candy store with a pocket full of quarters . I dont know all of the musicians names , but I know there was a stage full of talent there .
My son in Pa. Goes to every Billy Strings concert he can . Drives several hundred miles to his concerts. He got me I interested in Billy's music 2 years ago & I'm a big fan. If Billy comes to Tulsa I'll be there!!
ZERO RESPECT for bill strings. What sort of HYENA or JACKAL does someone have to be,... to end a gospel standard with,... "THANK YOU MOTHER F@#KERS!!!". What a putrid role model for young people. Pure dumpster juice,... and you want him to do a "gospel" album???????????????????????
I understand there is so much more talent on that stage, but Billy Strings and his music is keeping me alive right now. I only found out about him last week. I don't want to think where I be if I didn't.
Ugh, I love this so much! And of course, as much as I love Billy, I'm straight up in love with Sierra Hull and Molly Tuttle. But then again, who isn't? ;)
@@Forevertrue what a stupid comment from one of this typical ignorant follower of the book of morons. I know good music when I hear one. BTW. This is the music they played when the good religious people of the kkk hanged colored folks. So much for good Christians. They have no evidence what so ever but still feel entitled to justifiy the in human action. Go figure.
@@danielwmwolf You're defining God by those who claim to follow Him, yet how can a follower ever define that which he follows? He is by his very nature (follower) derivative. At best. The truth is, every one of us belongs to many categories, and the fact that the person himself is evil, does not in and of itself invalidate a single one of those categories. That same Klan idiot you rightly trash as a racist, does not, cannot invalidate all Christians, anymore than he can invalidate all members of his job, his family, his county, his high school or his softball team. He is a member of all those organizations, but none of them are awful just because he is. They stand or fall on their own merits, not on his! So what if a sinful Klansman wrongly claims to be a church member, or uses its hymns as the soundtrack for his many sins? He's still wrong because his racism defines him as such, and God is still right, because His goodness defines Him as such! It just doesn't make sense that the creature can define the Creator. It's wishful thinking, and is in fact just an excuse to trash that which you do not want to believe or adhere to anyway. Which is fine, that's your choice -- in fact, it can only _be_ your choice. But at least be honest about it!
Just recently discovered Billy Strings......now I can't get enough!! That's a group of some serious talent up there.....only thing missing is Marcus King!!
Country tune played with electric instruments being called bluegrass. I’d call that genuine love and confusion. A great refute to anyone claiming today’s artists don’t care or understand their forefathers. Praise the Lord, they saw the light!
I bet old hank, is up in heaven smiling from ear to ear. I could just picture old hank standing right here on that stage next to Billy, singing away! I believe hank, would give you a A+ Billy!
Notice how Billy gave every single musician on stage their chance to shine with a solo. Some didn't take it, like the bearded man pink shirt with the martin, but everyone was offered. And the smile on his face and how much he appreciated each solo.. I aspire to be nearly as good of a musician as any of them some day!
Is that Kyle Tuttle in the back? If so thats like 3 of the best young guitar players, 3 of the best young mando players, one of the best young banjo players, the best bluegrass bassist and the best fiddle player all on one stage at one time. String the Halls is like Woodstock for Bluegrass, and i understand it's all for charity? Good on all these musicians for that, much respect.
Les May that would be him! And yes! It’s a benefit show with proceeds going to Nashville Rescue Mission :) nashvillerescuemission.org/services/?mwm_id=320231789890&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3dGa8sPR5gIVEhgMCh3BiQ9FEAAYASAAEgJpk_D_BwE
Growing up in the Appies, I have seen a smaller version of this many times at church on Sunday morning, and it was this beautiful. I believe church is where the first electric guitar and amp were introduced into traditional bluegrass. Cpl of these kids look like they may have seen it too. Being Terry Barber's son, Billy prob has. Moral....at least one positive thing came from that "old time religion"...damn good music.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE !! All these beautiful young and older musicians on stage together for a crazy jam !!! I loved it !! Thank you guys !! Billy has such an amazing voice and talent. Thank you Billy !!
It's hypocritical to sing this song and then use God's name in vain along with other vulgar language. The drugs and alcohol that goes along with 'music' today will rob you of your eternal home in Heaven. God will not be mocked. Galatians 6:7-8
I love how Billy is willing to share the stage with everyone up there. And when the bass man stepped up, I was like oohh yeah brother, let me hear it. Very cool 😎
Love this!! Before Billy was born, I met his Dad ( Terry) at a Bluegrass festival in Lyons/Muir, through Brad Lasco! Amazing talent!! Hank is probably watching from Heaven and smiling!!
Wow! Love everyone's comments and y'all are right on that Billy loves to share the spotlight! The future of our beloved bluegrass music is in good hands with this troop!
Well... all you are those who know about, no doubt. But from Argentina, I see this show really great! It's exciting to be watching an hearing monsters like Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull and other, all join, playing for me!
I think she is the only acoustic plugged in, if she stopped to solo it would get thin sounding fast, you can hear what I mean when she stops playing for the bass 04:12
Can someone tell me what he changed the lyrics to at minute 1:30? Because it is definitely NOT "Then Jesus Came Like a Stranger in the Night" as written by Hank Williams. And whatever he says, he don't seem real proud I've rewound this part a few times.
Wow!! I am watching some I saw the Light videos on RU-vid, to get some inspiration when I will perform it myself with a group of musicians in my church, but I can just listen in awe, and don’t dare to perform myself next month after hearing this!!!
