Yes, Welcome To The Canteen by Traffic was a mood relaxer when I was in the army in 1972. Billy has brought back many old memories through his music. I wish him great health and many more years of his music!
Tried for years to get my late friend, Brian, to really dig on and appreciate Billy Strings. This video did it only two days before he passed. The smile on his face will always be one of my most fond memories. RIP, Brian Laude. Brother, I know you're singing the blues in heaven.
Amen brother a beautiful eulogy from a true friend I have no doubt he’s in a better place grooving God Bless you Danci. Hardest thing in the world is to lose be separated from one you live but the heart lives forever and you shall remain friends for eternity….
Your precious friend, Brian Laude, shine upon you. This sensational memory shared holds a heavenly heart space for each of you. By your actions of bringing joy to your dear friend, each of you remains connected through this as much as your life of cherished memories together. May Peace Be With You.
You can find all kinds of criticism out there why the same old stuff has to be hashed over and over year after year, but when you cut through the bull it must be fate and karma that there are great musicians from a new generation willing and more than able to keep the BEST MUSIC EVER alive in these messed up times!
Look, when I'm in the mood for re-hearing a standard, I come here. When I want something new and original, I stick with Hip-Hop. There's room for both between my ears.
@@jamesbrumfield1594 This is how it has always been done. For thousands of years musicians have sung the old songs, adapted them to the present circumstances, and introduced them to a new generation.
He’s a musical genius. However, he is in the HOF with Traffic and won two Grammys. Every band he played in was a critical success. Traffic albums went gold and platinum. He even had videos on MTV. And he was a guitar virtuoso as a child. Yes, Clapton was god and sold way more records. But I’d say Winwood is rated highly.
Old hated Boomer here...I'm so glad I lived long enough to see this great talent emerge. Never thought it would happen again. Billy is unbelievable. And I'm not even a bluegrass fan.
@@mcashnvI'm almost 74, lived through many festivals and drop-ins but I never heard your term "hated boomer" til just now? Where'd that come from? Maybe you're from Texas?
@@kippywylie It comes from the fact that Millennials have been brainwashed to blame all their problems on Boomers (who had nothing to do with their student loans, etc). It's a serious issue in our society. And Zoomers are being brainwashed to hate Millennials. You should get out of the house more often. Not sure what your Texas analogy is supposed to mean.
I'm so, so pleased to welcome Billy to the jam family. Seeing his meteoric rise has been a joy, because it means the well ain't dry. Stay as long as you'd like, man. You've earned a seat at the table and then some.
I think what sets Billy S apart from the other Jerry players is that he really did come from Bluegrass, Jerry's original passion. That lineage matters.
damm what a fine tribute to one of my all time favourite songs.....never thought anyone could cover steve winwood and jim capaldi and turn into something so timeless. absolutely brilliant and i am so jealuos of those in the crowd who witnessed this first hand.
Do you think in 100 years people will stumble across this video on accident and go “Holy Shit did we just uncover the best thing ever on the internet?”
Billy K setting these guys up with the musical recipe to carry on the legacy for decades to come. Absolutely magical, boys!!!!!! Forever Family, Forever Grateful.
Some advice for anybody just finding this masterpiece…Billy Strings is one of the best living singers/songwriters/players/performers. He plays 100+ shows a year with a band that sounds nothing like this, but respects the traditions of the British Invasion and Americana music. I highly recommend 😁
To be honest I never knew that Billy could sing like that. That goes with no words his capability of playing the guitar that's for sure but tack on top of that you would bility to sing really is a is a nice thing to see and listen to. ❤😊❤😊
I spent almost my entire high school years at Red Rocks. My HS was the closest to the park. This was way before they put up the gates restricting night time access. We would party on that stage with our acoustic guitars till late at night getting stoned. Even explored the orchestra pit and the underground rooms under the stage.
This was one of my dads favorite jams. I can't tell you how many times I've heard him listen to it. He's been gone for 3 years now and now everytime I see it pop up on my feed I always listen to it. This one by far is the best version I've ever listened to and give me goose bumps like the original. Thank you guys This was awesome!!
This is my favorite lineup of musicians around right now, praying they can put together a tour. So much potential amongst this group of musicians. I know they all have excellent bands but when will they get this opportunity again? Never! Bill may not be around the next time they wanna get together 10-20 yrs down the road, or perhaps someone else is gone. Take this show on the road!!!
I held my breath until his first phrase. Billy S has so much range vocally, and his incredible breadth musically!! too! Wow, he brings it all. I am SO glad I can age (I'm way ahead tho) with him doing my favorite all time GOAT band!
Jerry and Billy are both empaths imo . Both have an uncanny ability to make you feel loved and understood and we're all here to have a good time while we can. It's all about what feels right , this music just feels right as rain to me
Fantabulous!!! Billy and the kids nailed it! What a great performance in the perfect location! I was just amazed at his vocals on Mr. Fantasy, his father must be proud. He’s certainly a blessing to all of us! Thanks so much to all of you for an awesome show!!!
Wow. Billy K looking so happy, healthy, and young. Truly rejuvenated. These shows sound fantastic. Take this band on tour! Magner sounds so good with them, too. Really channeling some Brent vibes
@@HammockQueen my cousin Sarah Madl passed away in Kansas from colorectal cancer as well about 19 years ago at the ripe age of 23 years, forever young ❤ You dont get checked until we're 50 for that cancer, unfortunately. They didn't catch it until she was a few months from the end, her immediate family was by her side until the last breath.
Billy Kreutzmann is a living legend (as is Steve Winwood for that matter) who has assembled an amazing group of talented musicians, and Billy Strings is a legend in the making. So nice to see a mix of the sixties/seventies greats with the best of the last couple decades and the best of this decade. Like Jerry, Billy Strings has an incredible love for music in all forms. Only sad that Santana isn't in this concert, he adds something that no other guitarist can bring.
Amen Michael !! Billy strings is one of the most talented young men I’ve heard in along time !! He’s got it goin on, especially when he does bluegrass!!! Wow, amazing
The vibe these guys give off! It is something else. When I watched the Grateful Ma’halo (spelling?) it was just fire. Billy looks like he is 20 years younger playing here.
Every musician in this band is outstanding, rhythm section, sax and organ, and of course, Billy and his awesome rhythm/lead guitar bandmate...just awesome!👊
Billy can sure play guitar. This is my first listen to him playing electric guitar, i had only been exposed to his acoustic playing. He seems to have the real talent and good vibe, the real chance to create some novel music for us, Nobody ever complained about a good set that contained well done covers that I ever come upon. Rad.
I don't know, Kreuetzman generally has a shit eating grin when he's playing with The Company too. It's all beautiful music, and he gets to lay down the beat. Bill is truly living that best life.
All very talented musicians but the keyboardist nailed it. I've seen a few bands in boulder and I can tell you that tone would fill the rocky mountains.
This is so fantastic. This music is going to keep being enjoyed by every new generation as long as great musicians like these keep playing it so well. My dad loved these songs and so do I. One day my kids and grandkids will be smiling and singing along just like we did. Love it.
That “Cassidy” was a great surprise since it wasn’t listed in the title. You guys sound great! Love the line up. It really feels like everyone is on the bus. ❤️⚡️💙
The more I see and hear Billy Apostol the more I know he was put on earth for a reason. Bless you young man and thank you for bringing so much joy, especially when we all need it the most
I have never heard Billy's Rock side. Love it!!! I have chills listening to two favorite songs of my youth.. truly amazing performance by Billy and his band ( who probably were not born during the original music) lol
I think I have seen most of the great guitar players/artists in the last 50 years. With the exception of one. My boy, Billy Strings. Still waiting for him to come to Orlando. Come on Billy! Bring that sax player with you.
