Although he played Bob in JAWS 2, Van Zandt had originally been cast as the son of Quint (Robert Shaw). Outside of the sequel for JAWS he is perhaps best known for appearing on the bridge of the Enterprise in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, with him also appearing in the early Tom Cruise film, Taps.
