Just found your account and THANK YOU SO MUCH! I too am not a mechanic but can turn a wrench and have the brain storming ability to fix almost anything. You have given me the confidence ( i needed greatly ) to begin my project: 02 Yukon. It as 182000 and im getting ready to redo the front end, add rear support for when i haul my trailers and maybe do a little engine work to get a few more HP. Intake and Exhaust for sure. maybe cam, headers and gears later down the road... So you just took the shocks out and the coils just came out?! i watched another video with him compressing the spring and it was a 2000? i believe. Hoping mine is as easy as this! How is the ride? Are they as reviewed?

You made that look so easy! I’ve replaced all 4 shocks on my daughters civic and it was as easy as your video. I have a 2004 Yukon which I want to change out the shocks and springs so your video is of much help. If you don’t mind me asking what did you pay for everything? I’m trying to get an idea of what I have to prepare myself for.

My Yukon seems to droop a bit in the rear. Do you suppose the old springs have compressed with time? I put on new Bilstein shocks but not springs.
@syzygysyzygy8332
@syzygysyzygy8332 2 года назад
It depends on what suspension you have. Conventional: RPO code Z71 and Z66 are the most often seen ones. Premium Smooth Ride: indicated by the RPO code ZW7. Autoride: indicated by the RPO code Z55. When you know what you have ask again because they are all fixed differently.

That’s the conversion kit used for replacement of the Nivomat self leveling shocks with built in springs that have no coil or leaf springs in the rear whatsoever. The Nivomats are about $400 each for the rear pair and that’s why I’m going the same route with the Bilsteins as well. Don’t think those coils needed replacing in the video

Are you sure you needed the springs? They are required for Nivomat or air level. But it looks like you have neither.
@robertkeel3336
@robertkeel3336 4 года назад
The nivomat doesn't use a spring because its self level and auto load adjust. The spring is basically built into it. I have the nivomat on my 05 and there are no springs on the rear axle at all.
@sbond1963
@sbond1963 4 года назад
@@robertkeel3336 not sure what you're talking about. The coil spring is located next to the shock just like this video. If you don't have that, your dragging on the ground.
@matttownsend3069
@matttownsend3069 6 месяцев назад
@@sbond1963nivomat shock equipped trucks have no springs other than the ones located inside the rear shocks. They’re about twice as thick as the non self leveling shocks that aren’t part of the premium ride package. If you have suspension codes zw7 and g65 there are no rear springs on that vehicle.

@@saltycrowgarage7215 is that in the bible that you have to change the spring coils, the struts a good but is waste of money buying those springs, first of all they loose, common sense speaks volume in that case, they should have been hard to fit in not easy to put in if it were a better one.
@saltycrowgarage7215

@@sauldean6430 what? Not in the "bible" but definitely a fact. The factory springs are not rated for load without the use of self leveling shocks. The factory spring and shock share the load 50/50. Factory suspension is typical my inferior to name brand aftermarket.
