Completed in 1895, George Vanderbilt’s 250-room chateau is as impressive today as it was more than a century ago. Biltmore House is truly a wonder of architecture and hospitality. See the rooms where the Vanderbilts lived and entertained.
In the 1880s, at the height of the Gilded Age, George Washington Vanderbilt II began to make regular visits with his mother, Maria Louisa, to the Asheville area. He loved the scenery and climate so much that he decided to build a summer house in the area.

Nice house. You're right it was truly a different time. Nice insight into a forgotten time.
