Excellent. Just received my kit today and plan on doing it this weekend. This will be fantastic to watch while doing it. One question.. I plan on using one of the HDMI's on the MMI for a chromecast.. this requires a usb for power.. can I use the USB on the MMI for the power?
Beautifully done, and very understandably put. Could you give some input on pricing for all included cables, pry tool, and camera please. And thank you. Love the the video.
Hello Enon! In order to check the exact price, you need to type in your VIN first to find out what your car is compatible with (you can do it here www.bimmer-tech.net/bmw-rear-view-cameras/). As for all the cables, they are included into the price of the camera kit. The trim tools can be bought only as add-ons.
Very nice and thorough video. Thanks Bryan, it helped me a lot to install my mirror camera with reverse camera. I have one query, in my case its not a standard for BMW so i need to connect one end of it into Reverse light wire. what is the best way to cut and connect it to the reverse light wire. Anything you can suggest.?
Hi Harish. If you need to connect to the reverse light wire, it's best to use a tap-in connector, which we provide in our camera kit for cars that require it. You only need to clamp the connector onto your light wire and use it to attach the wire from the camera kit. If you're having trouble, please contact our tech support team at support@bimmer-tech.net for help. Thanks!
Hello there! My answer would be yes, but to be 100% sure, go to our camera page and type in your VIN. The web page will show you the products compatible with your car. www.bimmer-tech.net/bmw-rear-view-cameras/
This is a must for our new X3, bummer that the car did not come with one already installed. This looks to be the next best thing to factory. Any coupon codes? hehe
Hello David! You're right there - MMI Rear View Camera is a bargain. As for the coupon codes, we don't provide any. However, the MMI Rear View Camera is almost like a coupon in itself :) The thing is that when you buy a reverse camera with our Multimedia Interface, you car becomes compatible with other cool retrofits like SmartView, Front View Camera and VividScreen for a lower price because you already have the MMI.
Pretty good job there. I have a 2007 X5 3.od 1. The rear view camera that is connected - says not connected. The second CD cache drive in the glove box does not show up on iview. What can I do to get them working again?
Hello Kevin! Please, if you have the rear view camera from BimmerTech, contact us at support@bimmer-tech.net with your order number and VIN. Our support team will surely help you.

Hi i have a question so i bought this rear camera for my bmw x5 e70 everything works and fits but i ran into a problem every time i put on gear reverse the camera makes interference with the music i listen on the radio or bluetooth What could be the cause ? Is this supposed to happen when you put on reverse gear
hello, I installed camera from amazon on X1 E84 and works for 7 secs exactly then video dies. Is there sth funny happening with voltage on the X1? I connected the reverse wire from the head unit to the triggering wire at the front and the triggering wire at the back to the reverse bulb. I checked the voltage at the back and it stays 12V.
The mounting spot of the MMI module might be different. If your car is equipped with a big head unit then you might need to install the MMI between the head unit cavity and the glovebox, as it might not fit underneath the head unit.
Hello. I installed today a rear camera and it won't work... i tested e cameras and same thing... no signal? The firat camera did work when i the the first time and not working since then. Do i need to change a setting or something? The reverse option is appearing on the screen but no signal. Thanks. I am using a android 10.25 navigation from Ali Express and a generic rear camera from the same website.
Hello Ciprian! From what I read, this is not our rear view camera you've purchased. I'm sorry but I can't help you because I have no idea how the screen and camera should work or what the settings must be. You should contact the seller directly to resolve this issue.
@@bimmer-tech thanks, that is correct. Its from aliexpress, bouth the products. I tought that you might knwo from what i wrote :) cause is bugging me, i hope the seller will reply soon. Thanks
@@CiprianRadut Hope that it works out) Sorry that I can't help, but the cameras and screens can be very different, so it's almost impossible to answer your question without knowing the products.
Hi, This would depend on the specific model year of your car and the exact head unit that is installed in it. We supply vehicle specific PDF instructions that will explain how to connect everything in your specific case.
Hello there! We actually have 3 different rear view cameras for a BMW: 1) BMW original camera 2) BimmerTech rear view camera with our exclusive MMI module 3) BimmerTech rear view camera that looks and feels exactly like an OEM one. But first of all, you need to find out which camera your car is compatible with. To do this, go here: www.bimmer-tech.net/bmw-rear-view-cameras/, type in your VIN and the website will show you compatible backup cameras. When you complete this step, go to our blog page to learn more about the pros and cons of each camera www.bimmer-tech.net/blog/item/1-bimmertech-blog. If you have more questions, drop an email to infor@bimmer-tech.net.
Hello Lynn! The camera is attached through our MMI module and uses the factory screen. Please, enter your VIN here www.bimmer-tech.net/bmw-rear-view-cameras/ to check the compatibility with your car.
Hello there! Yes, the installation should be the same. The only things that can be different are some trim parts, but other details and specifications are very similar.
