Babish now: "I've got a 38 inch griddle plate, a bathtub full of defrosting exotic meats, and this afternoon I'm throwing a badass barbecue fundraiser for a deserving family, and buying my brother a Tesla." Babish then: *"A new camera angle!"*
Oliver babish is the name of a character from the tv show The West Wing. He used it as his screen name on RU-vid and Reddit before he started to go by his real name, Andrew Rea. Hope that clears things up 😊
Its weird coming back and seeing how far he’s come. The theme song in the beginning, the small kitchen, the “oliver babish”. Ive been watching him for years now and can’t believe how much this channels grown
Nehfarius yeah I bet this video is copyright claimed because of that intro, I was really surprised when I heard it that he would have used such a popular shows theme song as his intro. Obviously he doubted anyone would probably watch his videos lol, how the times have changed
@@mysterygeekdude3287 as much as I love when that happens, I disagree. Something about a group of friends where a variety of aesthetics harmoniously coexists just warms the heart. Then again I grew up on the Spice Girls, Sakura Wars, and Power Rangers so... Lmaooo.
I saw this and went to like it then realized I already did and I don’t remember it so I’m guessing it was one of my 4 AM binge watch nights so I’m proud of tired me
I agree, I enjoyed watching it made too but it doesn't look good at all. In fact, it looks really dry and not all that tasty. And the hard boiled eggs? Yikes!
Michael it's looks amazing, but it takes so much effort and time to make that a simpleton like me cannot spend more than an hour cooking anything less I get too hungry and just make ramen or something
Man, being Babish’s friend irl must be so dope. He cooks so many amazing and quirky food dishes and it always seems like he really enjoys sharing it all with his friends.
Yeah have you seen how dope they look? Man i wish i could party with such energetic people! LOL! Seriously either they suck at acting either they just suck as people, i have never seen anyone being so dull in the few moments they were on camera. I'd rather have a soul than being one of Babish's friends
@@CosmosProvider wow. A piece of shit who doesn't understand that people come with different personalities and that not everyone want to be "cool and fun"!
@@CosmosProvider And just what makes you think that? You know it's quite hard to be bubbly, especially on camera it feels like. That never means they don't enjoy being with Babish.
If you put out a cook book that listed out steps and ingredients but also included a QR code or something to get to a video like this I'd absolutely buy that book. Your videos are the audio version of what cooking comically is text wise.
animecats77 wrong, no recipe is owned, they may be kept secret, they may be hidden away and never told only fed, but the moment one is open to the world anyone can make it. That's one of the things I love about cooking. No matter how delicious no matter how classy and exquisite, anyone can make anything with some sharp knifes and a bit of attention to detail.
it's not really about if anyone can make it, its more about if he has the right to make a cook book about something he didn't come up with. But I don't know the rules about that sooo
I just made this for 9 friends. First off, the sauce was spectacular. Best tomato sauce I've made. Second, it baked perfectly and people loved the "everything" casserole. That's really it, I really enjoyed making it. FYI it's still warm after a 1.5 hour rest.
This video is so magical to rewatch. All of his hopes and dreams laid out. He went so big in his second episode, and every time i rewatch, I think off all the videos, the trendings, the cameos on other channels, all of it. So happy for him. Andrew or Oliver, whatever he wants to be called, I will always be happy for him. His level of commitment is the reason this paid off.
I've really been enjoying all of these videos and recipes(killer music selection, btw), but this is the video that introduced me to your series, and it's still my favorite one by a country mile. Really hope you keep these videos up, even if you're not doing recipes from movies and you're introducing us to some of your own favorite dishes. Keep up the great work and I'm really looking forward to more drool worthy videos down the line. Now I'm off to watch the Prison Sauce video for the 28th time.
Thanks for the reply!! Out of curiosity, have you posted the recipes/measurements for any of these recipes, or do you know of a place to find them? I'm one of the unfortunate few that thrives best using specific quantities.
You should have the recipe for all of your videos in the description. It'd make things easier when we go to make it. Like how Nerdy Nummies does it. Can't wait to give this a shot though!
What really annoys me when watching movies and tv shows is when a character expresses or says that the food is good pretty much half a second after it hits their tongue.
why should it annoy you? it happens to me...the texture , the aromatic amalgam of spices and the initial taste takes less than a second for me to appreciate..maybe i have sensitive nerves which i use to reverse engineer some secret recipes... im sorry you have delayed nerve transmission..
I decided to grab a drink as recommended. Im slightly tipsy, and watching him cut open the Timpano, was like watching heavenly gates open. My heart rate increased and my head felt light. This was like reading a Nicholas Sparks novel.
This is still my favorite of his videos. Such an ambitious and comfortable dish, made with that old RU-vid channel passion with all its rough edges. Always something I come back to.
He said in his episode of Hot Ones that this was the most stressful, most laborious dish he'd ever made for the show and that he promised he would never make it again. Honestly, I think that if one were to just do pre-made pasta for the filling instead of making it piece by piece by hand for an entire sleepless night, this might actually be worth making; I'm sorely tempted to try it myself.
Was anyone else confused by the fact that for a split second, his (now missing) hair was in view? Was it just me? Ok... I’ll be quiet now. Have a good day.
I can't believe that this was were it all started... In that tiny kitchen, seven years ago. Great to see you doing well Babish, been a longtime subscriber and I'm glad to be part of this wonderful community. 😃
Princess Longdong No. The fact that if you watch any percentage of Anime whatsoever, you will get called a "Weeb" is retarded logic. Especially when the person calling them a "Weeb" doesn't even know the actual definition of a "Weeb". Or "Weaboo". You seem to support oppressing people for what they enjoy. Since you're defending that guy. Your type of people take the joy out of life.
Just found you on Reddit, and I binged all your videos. You have an amazing stylized cooking format. I love it and am inspired to try this. Thank you for your mazing videos.
My mother and I made TWO Timpanos one holiday season - we made one with a wine-based sauce, and no peas, and one with a heavy tomato sauce, and added peas. The wine based one was very good, but I felt the wine was a touch overpowering. The tomato one had the flavors we wanted, and the peas added enough sweetness, plus more fun color. Seeing the looks on our guests' faces as we wheeled them out was WAY worth it.
Huge huge fan of your humor and cinematography, keep it up. I started by following your pasta aglio e olio recipe since I didn't have a lot of time to cook that day, but this is most definitely next.
I think in a later episode (i believe the every meat burrito?) he actually explains that before starting this series he was working in video media, so he basically started the series already with a professional understanding of cinematography and editing and with access to professional-grade equipment. Definitely not how most youtubers start off, but he really used it to his advantage.
You staying up all night cooking sounds like me after 2 hours of driving alone. At one point in time, I had an 11- 13 hour delivery route for a local restaurant chain I worked at.
Because of this video, i invited my cousins and aunties over and made Timpano and it was my first time really cooking like this but it turned out great! I had a great time making it an a great time with my family xx
I know you said on Hot Ones that you'd never make this again but I would love to see a "remastered" version of this, especially with all the space/equipment you have now as compared to when you did this video, should you ever change your mind.
This is so excellent and a fun concept, delivered with such verve and professionalism. I hope you take this further and get more views from it! Subbed.
Fantastic videos, man! Great photography, great recipes, and great commentary, you really have the perfect tone for this sort of stuff! Quick question; what happened to the ground pork and veal? Did you blend them all together with the beef in the end? Did it end up being way too much meat? I need to know these things for when I never cook this ever.
Hahah thanks so much!! Veal & pork made it into the meatballs - sometimes I'm anxious to get these guys posted and I get a little sloppy with the voice-over :P
Haha admittedly I slack off when the videos are peaking, but this guy has slowed down considerably, and I just had a bourbon at the office, and I like answering comments when I have a bourbon at the office.
The amount of dedication Babish gives these videos like staying up till 4:30 making pasta?! It's no wonder he's at the position he is now every subscriber earned by dedication and hard work!
Damn dude. this is my second video I'm watching of yours and I'm already subscribing. Recipes look delicious. Narration is funny and entertaining. But most of all, we have the same music choices, awesome stuff dude.
