Biofilms are a deadly bacterial infection which attach to implanted medical devices such as pacemakers, urinary catheters, tracheostomy tubes and prosthetic joints. Biofilms are extremely hard to treat with antibiotics and are often antibiotic resistant because they hide in a polysaccharide layer called slime. Using the slime as a defense, these infections evade the immune system and cost many people their lives. #lifewithavent #trach #biofilm

Thank you I never heard of such a thing as a biofield and how it came about until now. I tell ya gal you are just a wealth of information. I will remember this and I will also post this on CSN (Cancer Survivors Network) H&N (Head and Neck) discussion forum. I don't have a trach right now but I had one for several months after I got out of the hospital the last time. This is good knowledge to have Thank you again and I will send you the CSN link. Take care God Bless Russ 🙌 🙏 ❤️

Does a stainless steel tracheostomy tube need to be replaced every month too? My father's doctors advised him to use a stainless steel one because they said the plastic ones get stuck inside the trachea, and the stainless steel ones are easier to get out in case of mucus buildup. What do you think?

Yes, a stainless steel tracheostomy tube needs to be changed every month. A stainless steel tracheostomy tube can be washed, sterilized and reused. Since it takes some time to wash and sterilize the tracheostomy tube, it is best to have two stainless steel tracheostomy tubes. Every month, replace the stainless steel tracheostomy tube with a clean one. And then clean and sterilize the dirty stainless steel tracheosotmy tube and set it aside for use the next month. For information on how to wash and sterilize a stainless steel tracheostomy tube, please watch the following video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_kuYXsAeMqY.html I have never used a stainless steel trach tube. I have only used plastic and silicone trach tubes. I do not know if stainless steel tracheostomy tubes are easier to get out than plastic ones.
