Jamarr Royster, he squatted 370kg in sleeves and he competes at 82.5kg. His squat is quite different to Jessica's so it might be interesting to analyse
In my experience, a wider grip in the low bar squat makes the elbows ache post-workout, as too much of the weight goes into the arms. The narrow grip makes the arms "clamp" against the back much tighter.
Depends on how externally rotated your hips are when squatting. IIRC one of the reasons that lads recommend squatting with feet facing forward / forward knee travel is that you then don’t have to put as much effort into pushing knees out.
@@olindblo Squat university recommends pushing knees out even when feet face forward. Its hard to explain its almost like twisting your feet into the ground
Nice Video. Was thinking about her squat since i saw her squatting with Zack 👍 Is it an advantage to have Type 1 Diabetes in power and strength sports or are there drawbacks? I don‘t want to take anything away from her, she‘s the epitome of a horse. Just curious. Also Algo
I'm not sure how much the buckling video example applies to grip width (especially when showing the length effect, not width, the longer/taller the subject is, the lower the critical load and also the bigger the moment of inertia, the cross-sectional area, the higher the critical load like you did imply), but the tension you can bring to the body with arms close and behind is absolutely beneficial. More related to buckling is if someone would destabilize the core by poking in the side or pushing the weight sideways (any applied lateral force at critical load causes buckling). Nitpicking aside, great video, amazing lifter. Buettner's attitude is also one of the top athlete attitudes. So fun and relaxed but really competitive and hard-working. I'm also pretty sure she used to do shot put at some point when she was a young athlete, so this continues the admiration of those athletes.
