There’s so many games with “inspect” features that Gamology just never uses for some reason, it would give the reactors so much more material to work with
the data logs in this game actually go real deep into explaining the details of the biology of these creatures and why they look like they do. Would have been cool to show those too, instead of just mid quality footage.
@@prof.maniak5925 Yeah, & it's annoying when some of the reacting experts aren't familiar enough with video games, just look at the videos with the ex-Bank Robber, he doesn't understand that ibecause it's a video game it means you have to take some things with a grain of salt
@@prof.maniak5925 Surprisingly enough, GameSpot does the whole "Expert Reacts" thing better over on their channel, they have videos where they have a gun expert who HAS PLAYED VIDEO GAMES BEFORE! So he actually understands that because it's a video game, he has to take things with a grain of salt
You guys should’ve had them react to the data entries for these creature as well it’s very detailed and it sorta explains a lot of why creature develop the way they do in this world
I love that they were respectful of it as a fantasy alien world. So many other “experts” totally ignore the fiction’s lore just to harp on things. So it was so nice seeing them just chilling with the Subnautica world and reacting to it for what it is. Though I was surprised by the statement about things not living beside extreme heat, when deep sea exploration vessels and rovers have documented crabs, and even multiple proper fish species living directly upon volcanic vents with temperatures that would destroy any other living organisms not adapted to such environments.
Oh yeah, I agree, the one I think of is the Ex-Bank Robber, I cannot watch any videos with him in it because he can't understand that because it's a video game, you have to take things with a grain of salt
I think there’s even a snail that lives so close to an extreme heat source their shells have an iron like quality (I forget the specifics but I do remember it at least looks like iron)
My guess is that they were prompted for this. It seems like a lot to ask even of an expert to figure out that the jellyshrooms benefit from the organic matter of unconsumed herbivores falling to the ocean floor and becoming plant nutrients.
I swear to god I was playing Subnautica at 3:00 am one day and all of a sudden I saw the Leviathan just appear from the dark. People called the police on me after that.
@@Jjshort perimeter defence and sonar for the seamoth is the perfect way to see reapers and ghosts before they see you And when you gain confidence, add the stasis rifle and the thermal blade to your belt to hunt the reapers and make them extinct
Once i was on a Ressource-Tour in the Prawn, just wandering on the Seafloor picking stuff i wanted. Didnt noticed when it became dark... i mean im under water, most times its dark, unless youre close to the Surface. Well... casually continuing walking through the dark Silence, just the stomping of my Prawn as background noise. ......Then i got spinned around without warning and the local Reaper screamed in my Face. *sigh* these locals... always so ill-tempered
I thought this video was really cool. Also you should have robotics experts and mechanical experts and maybe military people react to the Mechwarrior games. It would be interesting on what their reaction would be.
Fish can be used when someone says "wow, that's a lot of fish!" Fishes can be used when referring to multiple species of fish. "I made this salad with three fish." VS "I made this salad with three different tuna fishes: altantic bluefin, longtail, and albacore." Or use them however you want, idk, I'm not an English teacher. Also, I had a pear earlier today, it was nice.
Prawn suit is for normies. Chads download mods and use the Alien Rifle that they can scan for at the Quarantine Enforcement Platform building. One shot and it can vaporise a Reaper...
*please get the gun expert to react to Wolfenstein or Homefront: The Revolution next.* *Plus I'd like to see that MMA guy react to Punch Out the Wii version.*
Funny thing about using sonar to throw off the giant eel, that thing, which is called a Reaper Leviathan or just a reaper, is near blind and actually hunts with echolocation, so the sonar would just bring it to you
I would argue that it would depend on the size of the sound and the frequency. Think of it like shining a really bright flashlight into somebody's eyes; even though you're seeing a visual cue with your primary sensory organs, it's a very disorienting and blinding cue.
It's both correct, while the sonar can attract the Reaper in lore based on the fact that that it uses echolocation, it can also be disoriented or hurt from it because it is a primary sensory organ being used to navigate, and it can be abused same as the person mentioning how a flashlight can be used against us, we use it to see in the dark, but the moment that light shines into our eyes directly we end up just worse off because we still can't see anything but blinding light, thus removing our ability to orientate again. So if you were to use a frequency with the adequate volume that effects the Reaper negatively, you can basically shut it down and make it impossible to use it's echolocation
I love the 1st Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero. I played it without any previous knowledge about the game and it was awesome, I still get chills when I descent to blood kelp forest and when I am in the Reaper territory... If I try a VR version of the game I would be scared to go anywhere beyond shallow water...
I recently read something about a species of shrimp that can live in almost boiling hot water. It was super interesting. It immediately made me think of subnautica and the lava zone
Seemed to be a bit of a disconnect between these people and the game.. I’m sure there’s other marine biologists that have actually played this game and could talk about it more since they’re more familiar with the game
There is an actual marine biologist who played through the entire game, you can easily find her video series here in RU-vid. Her channel is called Sea & Me, I think.
That's Gamology's fault. They never tell these experts what they're looking at or explain anything about the game. So the experts are just reacting blindly.
5:52 Species Designation: Reaper The reaper is a Leviathan class predator... Extremely territorial, And presumably gets enough nutrition just eating fish that swim into its territory because they're being stupid.... there roar is actually echo location... If you can hear it, it can see you!!! Edit: Would rather eat something it recognizes... Meaning that it will take a living fish from your hand Instead of attacking you Then if you fill up it's belly It will become Docile temporarily
Bruh am I racist? I thought Robin the vet tech was the fucking martial artist chick. Edit: I just put them side by side. They dont even look remotely similar. They dont even look like cousins. ;-;
Wildlife Biologist? Too bad he isn't a Marine Biologist. He could have been a Jojo reference... Also, missed opportunity to show them the Sea Dragon Leviathan!!!
Interesting thing to note about subaquatic lava. The temperature of the water causes what's known as the leidenfrost effect to create a layer of steam that's held against the lava keeping the thermal transfer to a minimum. I'd ask more questions on how the cave is oxygenated since hotwater doesn't hold O2 as well and the cavern is DEEP.
You know, I kinda wanna see a biologist actually read the data bank and learn about the creatures as well as them commentating on it. Whether that’s about liking the concepts or if any of the things stated could be identified as closely related to a real life creature. Or if the facts are accurate enough to be realistic. I’ve seen a lot of biologist play this game but I never actually seen one analyze any of the creatures. Even when they’re the ones playing.
I've never seen anyone react to casually to Ghost Leviathan. Now that I think about, it does look somewhat harmless compared to Reapers and Sea Dragons.
I took swimming classes eversince i was 5 the problem was i am really tall so tall my kindergarten teacher thought i was a first grader at that time so what i mean is that my feet were always touching the bottom of the pool so i never learned to float above water in exactly the same place
One note about Subnautica, is that it all happens in what is basically a massive, dormant vulcano crater, hence the abundance of life. If you leave it for open waters... well, HUGE leviathans roam out there that makes the Regular ones you can run into within the crater seem SMALL by comparison. Also it is QUITE realistic for a marine animal to live near extreme temperatures. there's a shrimp we know of here on earth that lives near a hot-geyser or some such area where we are way beyond boiling temperature, and it lives there quite happily.
I've played subnautica long enough to have a pure hatred towards squid crabs in the blood kelp forest. One of those bastards destroyed my seamoth so I had to swim all the way back home on a darn sea glide. Which took ages. The next time I got back I gave them a taste of their own medicine by using the perimeter defense and shocking them. P.s. I'm subnautica below zero, the perimeter defense can be charged to cause a more devastating shock.
Maybe in the future find some better people to react to this type of stuff maybe it’s just me but It felt like they were just joking and making fun of stuff in the game more than explaining things!
GAMOLOGY...FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I KNOW YOU SEE THESE COMMENTS WHEN WE TELL YOU TO PREP THE EXPERTS ON WHAT THEY'RE REACTING TO!!! I've been saying it for years and so have a ton of other people. It's not hard to give them a 5-10 minute breakdown on the game, the lore, the creatures, etc... You make so many of them sound dumb because they're just throwing out guesses when we know the exact answer and they're are a million miles in the wrong direction. Stop being lazy, take a few extra minutes and prep them like you'd prep anyone else making a speech or doing a podcast.
To the guys at the best reaction channel EVER. I have a great request. A great one. Can you make a member from the Yakuza clan, react to the amazing Playstation hit; Ghost of Tsushima? I want to see just how much they know about Japanese history and how much experience in the best created weapon of all time, the Japanese Katana. I am sure other people have thought about this, and it is an INSANE content idea because you will be demonstrating the history of Japan, aswell as showcase the Samurai code that is embedded in the Yakuza. Thank you for your consideration ❤️
