Biomutant (PC, PS4, Xbox One) is a fairly complex open world game with lots of RPG elements to learn. Here are some tips and tricks before you jump in. Subscribe for more: ru-vid.com?su...
Interestingly, the Myriad tribe does have some dialogue that could turn away some Light route players. When they say "follow your heart," they don't realize that's a selfish action and a dark one, so... don't make the mistake I made. It's an oversight a lot of game developers have. The better term they can use is "humble" or "soften" your heart.
Was gonna say this lol. Have all the tribal weapons but honestly they get outclassed fairly easily by the crafting systems. The unique moves are hilarious tho
I've seen those big fucking lantern guys I walk up to them and nothing happens. I don't get an interact button. Same with the 3rd base to the west in rival tribe quest. I walk up to the gate no interact button ? The other two were fine I got the armor and the boomerang ? I'm confused
So i got this game free with PS + and honestly I’ve had a lot of fun with it. It takes a bit to learn the systems but its actually pretty good. They seem to have patched out 99% of the bugs in the ps5 version so if your interested at all I’d give it a chance.
I guess they fixed it in other consoles too. I've played it in a Ps4 and had only encountered random crashes after a long session, but I never lost my progression. Very annoying, but not gamebreaking.
@@b3astnztein-251 it really isnt thou, it's obvious it's a passion project if you play it. There are no microtransactions, and there isnt even a deluxe version. Even RE8 had a deluxe version that came with a weapon charm for 10 dollars :P stop being a sheep and form your own opinion because it's clear you havent played it because not even bad reviews are calling it a cash grab
@@b3astnztein-251 the game seems very fun but I think I have to wait for a sale. idk how sales work or how long it will take but there are multiple reviews that talk negative about the price tag for this game so I hope it will be soon. (I obviously know that a sale is basically a discount but other than that am lost)
@@b3astnztein-251 what about it is cookie cutter? Looks like it has elements of monster hunter ( which very few games have ) and an open world. Other than that there doesn’t seem much in common with other games
The best way my GF phrased the game after we started playing: "It is more like RPGs from when we were kids, like the Jak games or Fable. It's simple and easy for younger kids and new gamers to get into, and is fun for the sake of fun." Which is something I actually agree with. We kind of largely moved away from accessible/easy games as a gamer-culture as we all got older, but most of us who grew up playing stuff like Fable/Jak...that was as far back as 2001...twenty years ago. I'm 27 and there are plenty of younger kids out there just coming into the gaming landscape and THIS is their Jak & Daxter style adventure, their introduction to open-world RPGs. But even then, I am still enjoying the game itself as a nice change of pace from 'hardcore' games that stress me out. After a full day at work, it's just nice to plop down and play something fun and simple that I can just enjoy without some a-hole on multiplayer screaming into my headset or getting mercilessly stomped by (purposefully unfair) mechanics in a series like Darksouls.
The most important tip is to change the narrator's voice to Japanese in settings so the game's tone suddenly becomes like a really ominous samurai fable. And then he has to pronounce Wogglefloof. It's fucking amazing.
My tip for newbies is to obtain the dead zone suits asap once you’re allowed to freely explore the world. Getting them is fairly straightforward in my opinion. You just need to find and tune Pingdishes which would look like satellite bases irl. Once you properly align these dishes they’ll lead you directly to where you can find the dead zone suits. There are five suits in all for Heat, Cold, Radioactivity, Hypoxia (oxygen) and the aforementioned Biohazard suit in the video. Obtaining the O2 suit for Hypoxia zones first is your best option because you’ll need to enter Hypoxia zones quite frequently near the beginning. I won’t spoil anything but you’ll understand why you need it the most when you start playing.
I got one!! Huge tip below!!! During character creation. You don’t have to have a big headed - high intellect character etc. Example: Say you move the cursor to high intellect then Hit randomize now move the cursor again to high intellect and your character won’t look the same as the first time. Just saying good way to have a cool looking character with different stats right off!
After watching 4 or 5 reviews, I was expecting a janky, disjointed mess of a game. I just played for 5 hours and it felt like 5 minutes. Its unquestionably a AA title with issues, but I had a blast with it.
I had the exact same experience! All the reviews I saw had titles like “Biomutant is an Ambitious Mess”. Almost put me off. Then I started it a couple nights ago at around 10pm or so? It wasn’t until after 4am that I realized how long I had been playing.
The game is exciting since there are things to discover or goals to reach.. but once you've seen some more, you will quickly realize how and where it lacks.. that's when you move from biased review to neutral review which is what most negative reviews talk about. I've played close to 10 hrs and I'm taking it slow, behaving and acting out like an idiot baby and going for looks and slow progression.. if your a hardcore gamer, boy this game is going to be a short walk and then an extremely boring game ....
You can actually activate the super wung fu ability with only two special moves, not three as the game suggests. I found this out by accident, you basically use one special, then the second and then the first again, so no need to switch weapons mid fight early on to activate it
I bought this the other day and I can't put it down. I'm in love with this game yes sometimes the camera view and angles get in the way but I'm going for the platinum trophy on ps5!! Best $40 I've spent! Outpost, bosses, open world, goofy gibberish characters. Crafting, and so much more. Light or dark aura or both, the game is also full of surprises so yeah let's get to it!!!
Another hint. If you're in a village and you're looking for the weapon/armor upgrade benches, they're on the platform under the hot air balloon. It's like that in a few places and it took me way too long to find them lol
#11: If you activate the Levitate psi-power as soon as you touch a mushroom from Fungi biogenetics, you'll be sent a LOT higher, which is useful for traversing some mountainous terrain and even shortcutting to some chests/loot in some high places, like near the "exit" of dungeons (bangshelters, gutways, etc) or above rooftops and on billboards . Combine it with the Helipack and walljumps for maximum performance.
I paused it halfway through the video to say THIS GAME IS AWESOMEEEEE! Playing the hell out of it and it’s just so damn weird and fun to explore. The positives out way the negatives by a mile in my opinion... hope you all are enjoying it as much as I am
Just a heads up not sure if its a bug, but you can in fact get the appearance you want in character creation. Just get to the stats page and decide where you are putting them. If you dont like the appearance you get, go back to the race selection shuffle around a bit and then go back to the stats selection and you'll notice your stats/appearance are different now
He still has to narrate all of the dialogue for you which is the most frustrating part though. All we need is an option for the gibberish to be subtitled instead of narrated so the dialogue isnt twice as long and a lot of people will be happy with the state of the game.
@@Tys602 Sounds like you're after the "Speech" volume. Turn that off and you don't get the narator anymore. And you can just click the next button to get the subtitles up before the gibberish ends. I know it's not perfect, but it's a darn sight better than going through all the gibberish, and then all the naration.
tip, you can upgrade your region specific vehicle using the summon menu from inside the vehicle, you don't have to go back to the region's npc to do it same goes for the mounts, once you ride it once you can switch back to it any time
I like the fact that u can add a banana as a handle to your weapon during the crafting tutorial. Played for like 3 hours, super fun experience. Thanks for the tips dude.
Its actually a really good game for me i like the combat and honestly the world being empty in a lot of parts made me relax and i seem to need that some games this days felt like chores and never ending grinds
I don’t have an issue with the lack of enemies, but the lack of lootable containers is triggering. There are areas with several completely empty abandoned buildings, empty car wreckage’s, and other places I keep looking for lootables... all totally barren. It probably has the least amount of lootables I’ve seen in any open world/rpg, which is really sad considering how deep the crafting mechanics are
@@mrfate1132 i havent got to many parts like that right now i actually have found a lot of containers in every zone i have gone know but i dont know might get like that later
@@allansolano5587 i only really find them at outposts. They’re pretty rare in the wild. I can go 500+m in any direction and not find a single enemy or container. They tend to be bunched together around main quest areas and less spread out around the world. Are we playing the same game? Lol
@@mrfate1132 i find a lot of them in the wreck city they where at some furniture inside te buildings and others on abandoned places there is nothing in the woods tho hahahaha enemies are rare but i have encounter some big enemies un some weird places like really far into the map i have found like 5 they are mini bosses i guess
My tip: Go into the accessability options and set the QTE to finish automatically. No game should have QTE for looting or opening doors with a crowbar.
@@deven4219 Quick Time Event. It's not the perfect word for it....."button mashing" would explain it better. When you have to push buttons fast or in a certain moment to do some actions.
I'm glad so many people seem to be enjoying this. Will definitely give it a go once I have some free time. Shouldn't be much of a gamble thanks to GOG's return policy.
i didnt expect much, but i basically just finished the tutorial stuff, a few hours, and it is good so far! but you definitely have to like searching for loot and crafting types of open world games.
I got one!! Huge tip below!!! During character creation. You don’t have to have a big headed - high intellect character etc. Example: Say you move the cursor to high intellect then Hit randomize now move the cursor again to high intellect and your character won’t look the same as the first time. Just saying good way to have a cool looking character with different stats right off!
what i find out on the dialogue choices - left is dark, right is always light (the tutorial tell us "left can be right sometime" and "right is always right").
I love that there's loads of things in the game that isn't in your face. When I first ran into mirage it immediately made me want to explore everything. Talk to everyone and wow did it add hours onto my playthrough. Loved it.
But it's not 100 buck (I'm in Australia) half the price would have been perfect. The game in a lot of places is empty and what seems to be unfinished. We can't excuse these devs for this type of false mechanics. They worked on it for years and it now comes out like they've only worked on it for 2. The price on release is the issue here
@@bachconneshon7809 of course its opinionated as it's my opinion from playing it. So you don't think the game is devoid of enemies in places and the fighting scenes and places look copy and pasted? The core mechanics are good but not what they should be for full AAA prices. I mean have you played it seen and heard the fighting sounds not forgetting to mention the lack of punch the storytelling in cutscenes is devoid of any real engagement from brining the player in to really care about the story which would be good if it was delivered better. This is why dev teams the last couple of years have been getting away with releasing really bad unfinished games cause they have people making excuses for it and they know once we buy it they can take their time making it the way it should have come out in the first place. Instead of giving us improvements on the base game from release. Again just my opinion. I hope you get where I'm coming from mate. Cheers for the comment though
@@pondi85fro no I see where you coming from but some people depending on how you look at it like the enemies more sparse and not jumping at you and so on and so forth. Just saying
@@bachconneshon7809 unfortunately that is not how they packaged it to us. They gave us the impression that it would be a full on action packed martial arts type of fighting game with lots of combat at every corner. Not sometimes riding around or looting areas for minutes at a time with no enemies around then going back the trail you came from with no enemies again to fight. That kind of game is good but not at full AAA prices that's more of a 20 to 30 buck cheaper type of a game. It's the pricing of this game that is the big issue. For what it is its not worth full price
There is enough 4 player coop games out there right now. Problem with those games is that they sometimes count on you just having fun with your friends, not with the game. They often end up boring, empty and with those cool moments only as cool as your friends. Also it's "would have" and "would of" doesn't make sense. Sorry to correct, but this is spreading like crazy recently ;P
I love the levitate skill, using that with guns is like a life saver. I've been aiming for a luck build, so far at 29% loot chance I've found about 4 legendary pieces, and I am only at level 8. I tend to just scrap all loot though, unless they're fetch me a pretty penny. Those parts make for a good custom gun.
I'd rather spend full price on a game like which you can tell has passion behind it, no microtransactions, no deluxe editions, is unique and not just part of a cookie franchise with a yearly release, just a pure fun full featured and enjoyable game. I hope to see more indie and AA devs give more like this, because it's definitely better than what these AAA studios are giving us these days.
@@suhaibibrahim It IS worth the price of course, it 60 hours long. I'm 8 hours in and still so much to do, with Side Quests, exploring the map, leveling up, doing story missions, seeing new enemies and weapons types, puzzles and so much more!
I know this doesn't quite help since this video is relatively old, but when choosing stats try to keep all the stats on a number of 10, ex: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50... Doing so will keep your stats looking quite neat, and you can see easier if you fail a persuade check and lose a core stat, so you can reload a prior save.
I absolute adore this game, I can't get enough of it. Big THANK YOU to Experiment 101 for making this game. They did an amazing job, for me Biomutan is 10/10 and I really, really hope there's a sequel. And thank you gameranx, the video is essential since the game can be a little confusing at the beginning.
Be warned, the first 2 hours is a lot of dialog. But this is such a great game. Started this morning at 6.30 and its 10 now. I'm loving it. Don't let reviewers fool you
I got this one yesterday and Ive played the hell out of it, it gives me a mix of Automata + Borderlands 2 vibes, story is lil blegh but I want to craft and explore in this game for a while. I like the combat, it actually gives me a challenge on some of the bigger groups and bosses even on normal. The more skills you learn the more combat can change in a million ways. This game is very dense with the mechanics and menus and takes some patience on that part.
I feel like the perk for Psi-Freak to make powers crit should be changed to just allow them to crit, then be based off of Luck. Would add more choice and be better than just a flat 10% chance to crit, and that's all you ever get. Scalability of skills and builds is super important in any RPG, and the game needs a lot more of that from what I've seen. Locking things in at a certain power level is just bad. Gear scales up, but powers seem to do much less of that, especially when you have perks like that. All stats should be valid for any class in some capacity.
Be careful and save before using mutation pool because there is a game breaking bug that resets your resistances and you lose a bit of crit rate if the bug happens
From what ive felt playing it and watching all the hate videos, aside from graphic issues at launch, I think the game doesnt hold up with the repetition of tons of quests but i dont personally see it
I havent even played the game yet and want THQ to start making a sequel. Games like this are so creative and unique they NEED to be supported so we get more of them, and better quality ones as well.
Character creation tip: If you dont like how the character looks like when you set your mutate circle, go back and select the same species again. The circle will behave differently.
Almost done downloading it rn. I really wanna try it myself and get a feel for it. I love this style of game and gameplay mechanics look like a good time
Mercenary reporting. My tip is try out multiple weapon types. Some are good for certain things, but mostly you want to find one or two that are fun to use. Also be sure to have a couple of different ranged loadouts. I've got a pair of pistols and a shotgun.
The green smoke you can unlock early under mutations stuns your targets, then the blink skill can teleport you to them to slice em up. Very effective. I found a big ass two hand sword that does like 4x the damage of my starter swords. Found it in a train car outside Bricktown
It's not exactly what i expected and the combat mechanics seem a little out of date, but I'm really enjoying it now that I've grasped the mechanics. Very unique and reminiscent of Fable.
@@happyroguue9358 people who criticized days gone are stupid. That was a fantastic game with amazing exploration and so much to do. Edit: and it's the same with this game too, yes the creatures can look a little derpy but you'll realize it fits very well into the world once you start meeting npcs.
I turned up the narrator to 75! I love it. Makes the experience less lonely and it reminds me of Little Big Planet, which was one of my favorite games as a kid.
It's nice to se some gameplay footage and not the narrator's face with his house as a background, thanks for keeping it legit to the spirit of gaming Falcon 👍
ive seen a lot of negative feedback on this game but i must say, not of that has discouraged me to buy it. this game looks fun and adventerous. going out of the norm and taking the risk of something is not always a good thing, but this seriously looks fun. it'd be fun if they made it a multiplayer down the line. being able to conquest other tribes with the homies would be seriously fun.
For the "Elemental suits" i highly recommend A. Either just doing every little area you see, i haven't explored all the areas yet about 30-45% and i already have 100% on almost all of the elements naturally, the rest is 100% via armor... or B. use the Outfit menu, it's essentially a "quick" equip. You put your desired armor in those and you can just point and click and tada it's on you. The bad side is that you gotta pay attention what you sell and or scrap because they do not highlight armors that are used in other Quick load outs, but the one that is in use.
Fun game but the beginning was overwhelming with all the customization, stats, breeds, etc... But the cool thing is I think it'll have some replay value to try different classes / breeds. The story, narration, and style are a little kiddy and weird (reminds me of old rareware games like conkers bad fur day or banjo kazooie) but it is alot of fun! I think I'll be putting some hours into this one
Here is a piece of advice for those who are on the fence bc they read a negative review of the game. BE YOUR OWN JUDGE! this is literally the point of these videos to help YOU make the decision for YOURSELF. Just bc some journalist “gamer” didn’t like the game for whatever reason does not mean you will dislike it as well. I think this game will end up being an underrated hit you will either really enjoy it and want more of the game or you won’t. It is good fun, a solid enjoyable RPG and an excellent foundation for the future of this game and dev studio. All imo of course. Happy gaming everyone!
Currently at 6 hour mark in the game and let me tell you - BOY this fucking game is so garbage. But at least its a funny kind of garbage unlike Cyberpunk or Anthem which was ultra kind of boring garbage.
@@baalorck If you like open worlds RPGS, you will find value in this game. How much value would vary from person to person. I would say that if $60 is a lot of money to you, then wait for a price drop or do a trade-in for it. But at some point...you gotta try this game!!
The tribe weapon's are apparently bugged, as you are meant to be able to acquire all of the weapons you didn't get when ending the war early, since you have free roam in all the bases.
Been playing since last night and so far the only thing that gets wonky with me is the combat, especially when I’m hitting enemies and they just ignore my attacks and knock me out of my zone. I love this atmosphere and tone of the game. Story isn’t most solid thing in the world, to me it kinda jumps all over the place at times but for what this game is I really love it.
Yeahhh I wish I watched this earlier, I did the option to end the tribe war early not knowing it wouldn’t give me the tribal weapons of those left over :(
A small tip, if a merchant has an item or addon but only has one to sell, you can save then load and it will restock the merchant's stock. Useful if they have legendary addons or armor you want multiples of.
A thing about character creation I've seen no one mention: If you like a certain head shape but not the body, going back to breed selection and then selecting the same breed, will randomize the heads with the body (for example I had a cute head I like but it was on the strength bulky body, and with this method I was able to get the same head but on the agile tall and slim body, after 3 or 4 going back and forwards in the menu) Just something I think would be useful for the people who love having an aesthetically pleasing character from the get go
Thank you guys, was trying to figure out what resistance to start with. Was going to leave it at 5% everything because I wasn’t sure but I’m gonna go 25% bio.
I went asthetic and chose a mix of ice and bio for the nice neon blue glow on my characters arm to match his fur lol because that color wont change in the future no matter how much you change your resistance.
Yeah, I'm Blue Controllin hard for something even half decent. This legit seems to be fun. Hopefully it does well and future games just grow exponentially.
been playing a few hours. so far i love the narrator aside the fact I had a string of him mentioning to go out and do the story in different passive-aggressive ways while I was running around Suburbia collecting items. aside that i liked his little quips
Best game Ive played in a while. I like how creative you can be in customizing and developing your rodent. The whole setting is cool as well. I dont regret buying it and unfortunately thats not often the case.
I believe this game belongs on a list with titles like nier automata, ghost of tsushima and koa rereckoning. All games i personally adore. I hope this becomes a franchise.
Switching clothes is not a pain, unless you missed the Outfits menu. Still better to go for full resistance, but yeah, changing clothes is easier in this game than in most others.
The mutagenic pool I found to change appearance also reset my resistance. I noticed I had 8 points back when I changed appearance and my resistance which was 89% prior was at 10%.
A lot of negative reviews its oretty fun for me so farjust 3 hours in just remember that it does lack story depth and mission depth but combat is fun and the game is just fun as long as you do not expect a full fledged AAA RPG title you will have fun
@@billz9852 except its priced as triple A...so not expecting triple A in itself means the games not good enough lol Nothing about it appeals to anyone I know. Empty loot. Empty progression Empty crafting. Empty stats...like fuck man.
@@trollinggodd8429 yh pricing is high but id disagree to empty progession and that this game is a breath of fresh air it may not be perfect at all but at least its something new and different
@@billz9852 just because its new and different , doesn't change the fact about every one of its flaws. I wanted the game to be good....its just not. Combat is janky. Melee is unweighted. Attacks aren't powerful feeling. The story doesn't matter. I don't hate the game man. I hate the developers for selling us an unfinished product at triple A prices. The fact everyone says don't expect triple A quality...just shows we as consumers will shell out money for fucking anything
Can definitely see some of the complaints in biomutant, but I for one at having so much fun sliding under big guys legs and making a badass fully auto rival and just doing crazy Kung fu stuff. The crafting is sooooo fun to me idk
