Pascal in top shape!!! Very inspiring :-) Yes! And thanks so much filming all this! You are such an important messenger for this sport! A blessing so to speak!
coming from a cycling background and just started on skating, I have totally enjoyed your blogs/videos. Question, so I see the rainbow stripes, does that mean the skater is the present wold champion at race time? and you, as a former world champion, do you wear the rainbow stripes on your sleeves? Can the skater only wear the rainbow stripes in the discipline he/she won the world championship in, for example, road marathon vs. 15k elimination track?
Thanks for uploading the video!! 3:28 omg that was close. that reminds me an accident from Berlin marathon idk which year though. The bike driver maybe didn't know how it was going to be like when they got into the corner. Unless he was a pro biker it wouldn't be easy to keep the speed at the steep corner while sometimes skaters even speed up doing crossover. Every driver has to be noticed in advance to each event to prevent otherwise pretty frequent accident especially on this kind of winding course.
It seems less efficient to hold the arms behind rather than use them the same as runners use their arms. Behind may be streamlined but no power gained from using the arms too.
Yes Sure at high speed (not max speed) it’s very efficient to keep arm in the back for 2 reasons: - being more aerodynamic - use less muscle group to keep cardio a little Down It also give more feeling of how to use the body weight transfert actually.
@@yessure5291 running is a totally different set of motions from skating. It would be very awkward and unnatural to run with the body positioning that is most efficient for skating. when skating you can save a lot of energy by using the weight of your body, pushing down into the ground with your hips to generate speed, so a low position with all of the weight and focus of your body in your hips and legs is very advantageous. Distance runners don't push into the ground in the same way that skaters do. Also, being aerodynamic is much more of a factor when skating than running.
Yes Sure depend of the countries ... many countries still use roller skate to describe this sport... here it’s the name of the competition: biosfera roller skate.... long time ago it was on roller skate but when sport change to inline skate they probably keep the original name.
