i love speedruns of games like this because it almost feels like a groundhog day scenario where the player has lived the same moments so many times they can just react to everything perfectly.
I forgot about speedruns of this game and just came back to watch this one. You took a few tries on some tricks, but you made up for it with flawless execution in other splits. Good run man. Cool to see all the new tricks you can do with a higher frame rate.
Heya Dist! This might require too elaborate an answer, but I'm curious: what makes you decide on which game to speedrun next? You seem to fluctuate between quite a lot of genres so I wonder if there is some commonality between the games you're running that I'm not noticing? Loving the content - keep it up!
It’s really, really important to enjoy the game you are speedrunning. So I would assume he choses what game to run atleast somewhat based on what he enjoys or feels he will enjoy. Also based on how the world record is and at what extent he feels it can be improved.

Story wise I think this is the best BioShock game. I really loved the whole quantum mechanics and different timelines vibe. Loved the game and loved the speed run!
Coming back to this, because I’m kind of surprised that you didn’t use more of the vigor combos. I found that you can undertow pull+shock and most everything that isn’t a handyman will fry to death, giving you time to move on to other targets
He is saying doesn't row 2 times and emphasize the doesn't part because when he says it he is talking about this particular reality he doesn't do the rowing. Not that he doesn't row because he chooses not to, it's the fact he doesn't do the rowing. So his wife confuses the first doesn't row as he doesn't row out of choice or something like that. The husband says, no he DOESN'T row. Then she understands that he doesn't happen to row in the time line they are in and she understands what he means. I hope I explained that well enough.
I only ever played 2 hours of bioshock. Yesterday I grinding out the game and still couldn't finish after going "fast" like 6 or 7 hours on hard. 😂😂 I love seeing the strats afterward and just sitting over here like "WhaaAAt!?" Over and over again 🤣😭

This explanation will spoil some of the story if you haven't.* It is a little bit confusing but what the "He doesn't row" part is them explaining that no matter how many timelines there are, some things will never change. Some things like a coin flip are completely random and WILL change between timelines, but some things always remain the same.
I literally thought that watching his 1999 run. I'm a proud owner of a new and powerful PC so I'm watching it thinking, man I'd almost have to mention to chat my specs with how seamlessly my machines handling this.

90% of a speed run for this game is skipping cutscenes. This game is littered with them, especially in the first hour of "normal" paced gameplay. Finding all of these skips is really impressive and probably takes a ton of work!
This is false, this is not the world record. When I had this game as a young kid I beat it within (after previously beating it) an HR and 15 minutes tops. I didn't know about world records or RU-vid at that point in time but yeah this isn't the world record maybe recorded however actuality it's not even close. All 3 BioShock games can be completed roughly around the same time I completed them (pretty much around the same time as I completed infinite) I don't think this is an important achievement of mine that I never learned to record I just figured I'd try and get this guy back into this game and see if he can beat my actual time.
