the ending made me smile so much god that's so sweet...the idea that the little sisters didn't have an end there, that they lived the rest of their lives on the surface, found love, became people in the way they could never have in rapture, and that jack was surrounded by them, all grown up when he died of old age that's the best ending. 10/10.
*A couple of things I've noticed after playing this boss a few times.* 1. A lot of people mention that Fontaine looks like a metallic statue. Weird, sure, but what if that's the logical conclusion of the *'Armoured Shell' tonic?* We don't see what effect that tonic has on Jack/the player in-game, but it can be assumed that it would involve hardening skin or growing some organic armour plating as it were. He clearly shows traits of other plasmids and tonics, so it's not an _out-there_ idea. Amplify that by pure ADAM and you'd essentially be a walking tank. 2. Fontaine has clearly never used plasmids before. Up until you got free of WYK (note, he was highly surprised by that), he probably panicked and figured you'd be too strong to take on without them. If we can assume he spliced up before you got to Point Prometheus, that means he hasn't had the time Jack/the player had to learn how to use and exploit them. Therefore, he just lobs them around with little to no skill.
He does take Adam once you get to Point Prometheus and while you defend the little sister in the proving grounds he begins splicing until there’s nothing left to splice with, once you confront him he is a walking Adam soup
@@bonelesschickennuggets1868 Yes, that's right. He throws on the "Great Chain" fixtures at the bathysphere and things proceed as you said. Nicely remembered. 😁
Fighting this abomination is much easier than the Big Daddy. Stupid patterned movements and in a big open area. I used wrench only with freeze effect in the 1st phase and it's really fun
lol I've been playing this game on and off since 2007 and had no idea she was saying "Unzip him, Mr. B! Unzip him!" Only last month did I finally play it all the way through and figure that out. I always thought she was say: "I'm zipping!" *smacks himself in the forehead*
@@MyJapaneseLife I always thought it was that the Little Sisters viewed Fontaine or any other bad guy they see as a giant, evil teddy bear. BioShock 2's Little Sister level both supports and contradicts that, but at the time of just having BioShock 1 around, I think that's what they were going for. They do mention that the Little Sisters live in a fantasy world in the first game.
@@huntersangster im not mad about the fight, lol....i did'nt Even felt a thing about this fight...not at all.....and thst was the problem Now with the BioShock infinite: BaS2 context, NOW i feel something...i feel the need of revenge
Idk why but like the third part of every triology game or movie, it always sucks ass. The first two bioshock was great and fantastic, bioshock was good aswell but it didnt have the same excitement.
When I played at 14 I thought the ending was kinda lame but now I realize that’s the best thing you can have surrounded by your loved ones as you die happy knowing you saved there souls
Although having just finished that game again I can't help but wonder... She has gas bombs that knock out everyone around it... Yet even though she knew how unhinged he was (especially after the lobotomy session) she still got that close.
I dont know if anybody's noticed this yet, but I just realized that the reason Fontaine looks so goofy isnt just because of his splicing, but it's a reference to a statue. Specifically the statue of the man who holds the world upon his shoulders in Greek mythology. A man named *Atlas.* My God, even when Bioshock DOES look goofy, it has a good reason for it.
1% comments: fighting Fontaine cause it’s the final boss 99% comments: fighting Fontaine to get revenge for Elizabeth (and there ain’t nothing wrong with that)
Wrong. I'm fighting for Andrew Ryan. A man who tried to do the right thing but was corrupted by power and people trying to destroy the paradise he worked so hard to build for others for free.
when I first played this game, it was so satisfying to beat atlas/fontaine and getting shanked by the little sisters after everything he's done and this was way before burial at sea. besides that I'm glad to save all of the little sisters (and I never will harvest them) because the ending was very heartwarming as Jack got to raise at least 5 lost little girls he saved :')
@@velvetsky3451 Jack has accelerated aging , chronologically he's younger than the little sisters in the game. At the end of the clip , the little sisters are probably in their 30s , while Jack is dying of old age. Tenebaum was in her 30s during the game , and should be alive if Jack dies of old age in less than 30 years after the ending of this game.
“Hm.” “Yes?” “He did it.” “He what!?” “He did it. Look.” “Oh my… it seems he did.” “I knew he would.” “You knew he _could”_ “No… just this once, sister, I knew.” “I suppose it was inevitable. What’s the phrase? ‘One creates what one dreads?’” “And another, for you consideration.” “Which is?” “‘A man often finds his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.’”
This fight was REALLY UNDERWHELMING for me. I think the game was great, but the final fight just needed... *more.* For reference, I was playing on normal. I even switched the difficulty over to Survivor, the hardest one... yeah, still not enough. I got through his health really quick, and he died fast. I still think the ending is cute, and worth it- and while there was a sense of "i am going to kill my maker" in me, it just ultimately fell flat with how weak he was. I guess I must've chose wisely when it came to my plasmids. I'd assume it's because of his moveset being really boring. He only evades left and right, no real gimmick except his plasmids- all of which are easy as hell to avoid. Hell, I don't think I would've minded him throwing Security Bullseye at me, launching turret drones at me... I think it would've made a neat concept if you could catch that little "ball" that the plasmid produces with Telekinesis and throw it right back at him. I'm just spitballing here. Eh, well... Still felt good watching the little sisters stab the hell out of him.
I love the end quote “They offered you the city, and you refused it, and what did you do instead? What I’ve come to expect of you, you saved them, you gave them the one thing that was stolen from them: A Chance. A chance to learn, to find love, to live. And in the end, what was your reward? You never said, but I think I know: A Family” This has to be my favorite quote in video game history, even years later
@@SafaGunSafaGun He did promise to murder Little Sisters once he gets rid of his wayward creation. Man of Frank Fontaine's character has very good record of keeping his violent, spiteful promises and very bad record about promises like paying his workers with real money. Little Sisters had every right to kill him. If his death would be scene from a movie it should have human-reverted Fontaine crawling away begging for mercy while dozens of small feet kick him and about as many small, but very sturdy spikes stab at him and one, slightly larger Little Sister very deliberately stabs her syringe right through his eye. Then he gets stabbed and kicked so much more that in the end only battered pile of broken bones remains. He crawls away because having those needles rammed through your ankles makes walking impossible.
You know, this really goes to show how effective a simplistic design can be. I mean, c'mon. Fontain is just a swoll golden man. You can't make it more simple than that. Yet it works wonders to make players feel like they're fighting with someone really powerful
Oo, cool tip to speed run this boss. Just constantly use the electric gel in the chemical thrower keeps him in one spot until he's back in the chair. Keep doing this and you'll beat him without getting hit. (Ps makes sure to have enough electric gel. Like until you can't hold anymore. 😅)
It was hilarious when I realized you could basically stun lock him to death using the chemical thrower’s electrical gel. (As long as you equipped both electric damage boosting tonics and had fully upgraded the thrower you could get through all of his phases using only the electric gel if you had full ammo for it and he would be completely stunned the whole time as long as you kept the stream on him)
This boss fight was so pathetically easy. Would've been a lot harder and more challenging if you also had to fight a Rosie and Bouncer Big Daddies fighting alongside Fontaine.
Well you didn't ask for my opinion but still gonna say it anyway. My problem was this boss fight felt too standard wave fps boss instead of immersive-sim type boss like the others.
Literally the only thing that I don’t like about the first bioshock is this “mega”Atlas battle, because most games at that time had a final boss just being some character turning big by some kind of “ steroids “, and I feel like since frank was a genius, had some mind control over the protagonist and was the new owner of rapture, that there were other ways to make that fight better, besides seeing him as a giant just running around and screaming is kinda silly,
I understand from a radio message in the previous level, where you are protecting the little sister, that Fontaine has never used ADAM before but says something like 'I'm gonne splice til I can't splice no more'. So he really isn't very experienced with using use the plasmids.
Iv alwats wonder we seen frank fontian in burl at sea and you know at the end of infinty she see all the doors and behind one of them she saying witch is him aka jack i wonder if she and booker went back in time and i rember too there was another comstock becasued the first comstock died in infinty there are so mant theroys in burl at sea and i rember infinty when we vist rapture everything look gone like rember that hall way wear the plan crash into and all the water came out that hall way was gone and everything look all destory i think she went back in time becasued repture look destory when you play the first game of it but man bioshock is a awsome game in history iv always wonder who is more evil sofia lamb or frank fontian
This boss is actually very easy with the correct plasmids and gene tonics, for plasmids, I only used telekinesis(2nd phase to dump explosives in the stage at him, those does insane damage especially at that phase) and enrage (3rd phase, use it at nitro splicers especially to nuke his health down without even the need of doing anything!). Equip shorten alarms 1 and 2 before starting this fight will make your fight in the 2nd phase a hell lot easier since equipping those reduce the alarm duration. Make full use of the health station there if required.
You can also just use the electrical tonics and an upgraded chemical thrower with a full two tanks of electric gel to just stun lock him for the whole fight
The greatest part is that all the little sisters grown up from their hands dont look old, thats cuz jack had accelerated aging and he grew out but they all stayed to be young.
@SafaGunSafaGun your name is Jack Ryan And and in Bioshock 2 when you are at Fontaines Futuristics there is a audio clip of Sofia Lamb She Saids About Andrew Ryan was murdered and she Ryan was murdered by his own son's hand and she subject WYK which we did kill Ryan in bioshock 1 and WYK Means Would you Kindly So We are the son of Andrew Ryan
I’ve never really played the game and might sound like an idiot suggesting this, but couldn’t Fontaine have just busted out a few 'Would You Kindley’s' to stop the MC from attacking him?
He does use the would you kindly to make Jack get stepped on by a big daddy but at that point Tenenbaum already reversed some of the mental conditioning. And why he didn’t used it before? Fontaine was toying with Jack letting him try to save himself for a while only to smack him back into reality with the code phrase
I can remember the last time I beat this game. I saved all the little sisters, killed Ryan, and then the truth was revealed. I wasn’t shocked; I had beaten the whole thing before, but this time was different. This time, I had also beaten Burial At Sea. As Fontaine hit the ground and the needles sucked the last of his life out, I remember putting down my controller, crossing my arms, and nodding. I spoke only two words, and had he heard them, Fontaine’s heart probably would have dropped to his fucking heels. “For Anna.”
Personally I love his game. Weirdly spectacular in every way,and slightly predictable but not as much as COD Advanced Warfare if you see what I mean. But to be honest, I don't know why but bearing Fontaine was the easiest thing I had to do in the whole game which was weird. I thought it might take me a few deaths but no,it took me nothing more than 2 healthpacks. So a word of advice to anyone struggling. Do nothing but harvest the little sisters. Because I think that's the case with me.
+The ‘The Pint - sized Slasher’ TC Yes it sure was a great game. It's a whole new theme, my friend. I have to agree with you, it surely was easy killing/bearing Fontaine. A bit TOO easy.
Cool part is that bioshock infinite was a pre sequel to the first game and second game,it wasnt in the same universe which leaves a way for the fourth game :)
Just beat him on survivor 😬on ps3 First part lay traps and bombs near stairs, finish off with buck shots. Second part security bull eye him then electric jell 3part same as before 🤠 shiny new platinum
@@SafaGunSafaGun tar thought he go be tuff on survivor but piece cake, survivor difficulty piece cake after first couple levels. Just get big daddy’s do all hard work for u with hypnotise big daddy 2
One awesome design element in the game is that in his mutated Adam-god state, Fontaine looks like the mythical Atlas. Making his Alias have some extra significance.
To be fair, the game was intended to be a clap-back to Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged," especially in the way that it shows how objectivism isn't sustainable.
You only get 20 extra ADAM if you choose to harvest, and the gift you get if you save the Little Sisters almost balances that out. Basically, there’s only one reason to harvest: to prove to yourself that if it weren’t laws and consequences, you’d actually be a terrible person
@@proctorritter5176 No, it's a 40 ADAM difference every 3 sisters , once you reveive the gift ADAM. You get 80 more ADAM per sister harvesting , you get a 200 ADAM gift every 3rd sister saved. For the game , it's 280 more ADAM harvesting the 21 sisters. And if you use the extra sisters exploit , you don't receive a bonus gift for the 24th sister. If you want to get all the trophies/achievements in one playthrough you have to save the little sisters.
