Your description of Bird Box reminded me of that crappy M. Night Shamalamadingdong movie with Marky Marky: The Happening. I don't even know why I saw it, because I had said that I was done after seeing the trainwreck that was The Village (smh). Both were terrible. "Oh, wind. Oh no, suicide, run .." From what!? A light breeze?
I've been hearing all about the movie and then figured out it is based on a book. I might give it a read at some point. Also, since you sort of touched on adaptations, what did you think about the Pillars of The Earth adaptation? I haven't seen it yet but just got it on DVD.
I liked the premise of this book. But the result was not that great. I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars. I don't usually like open endings - and that's why the ending didn't work for me. But the scene at the well was good, really athmospheric and kinda creepy. But the book wasn't really something that I will always remember. The movie was okay but the book is better.
I had no idea that this was a book. To be honest, though, the premise of the film didn't spark any interest and so I'm definitely not wasting my limited time reading the book. So thanks for the review and the heads up as to how it fairs ;D
