Bird of Time glass fibre repair 

Mine cracked in the same place. I put heavy plastic over the epoxy. I used monocoat about 2.5 inches wide, wrapped it up and put the heat gun on it. Worked great thanks for your tips on how to get a tight light weight repair.

I'm not looking forward to doing this although I have the materials to hand. The first break is to a well used Simprop Excel 3 and the second is to a new Fascination from TopModel. I'e never seen the heat shrink tape before. It seemed to leave a lot of ridges to deal with, though, which is worrying. I used a similar technique 40 years ago with Sellotape to smooth out the gel coat on a 14' Glastron speedboat that I holed badly on a West Wales beach. It worked then, so I might try it again.

Never heard of heat shrink tape, is there a brand name or supplier name?

Sorry, my dear, but that's not professional. The repair must initiate the force at the point of greatest load. 1. The material around the fracture is ground out 2. The glass mat is placed in layers 3. The resin is applied sparingly. This is how it goes and then...💪👌👍
