Happy hear you got back out again. The Cactus Wren is my favorite bird. It gives me joy to watch them and hear their songs. Thanks for sharing.

"it's OK to go out with your camera and not get anything" - amen, brother. Used to be a source of tiny frustrations in my case, until I realized few things about this hobby 😅

Those raven shots were great! The Osmo/drone combo seems to work well for filming a solo vlog.

We have lots of Ravens around our place in Southern Australia, we are surrounded by dairy farms and we have murders of ravens all the time. I love their eyes, I rarely try to photograph them cos they are too common.

These are the hikes I dearly love!. A cold, crisp sunny day with little wind, by myself, and in the desert photographing wildlife. What a day. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Brent. Is quiet, dark and not much birds in Norway, as well. The sun are very low, so there isnt much light at the moment. But it will be better and lighter after the mid of february. The birds will be back in april, when the ice have melted at our lakes.

Cool video, Brent .. a different location and some nice bird pictures after some patience on your part.. would love to see you capture some awesome owl pictures with the 500mm F4.. I heard you mention owls in the video 😁

I can relate to that slight aversion against tripods. Yesterday I was out for birding, shooting ducks on our local pond which was solidly covered with an ice blanket. I had ducks both in front of me and in my back. And everytime they flew past me I had to dance around the tripod to get them but mostly failed anyway. Would have been easier to point and shoot by hand.

I saw that sunset this morning in Fort Worth. The colors that were in the sky were awesome but there wasn’t anything I could do about it either.

Great Job on this video and your message at the end. I have been wondering how your shoulder has been, hopefully you get good news at the VA.

The shoulder is doing okay. Definitely better than last winter/spring. Still has some minor issues, but better so far.

I imagine that you will be carrying a tripod way more often with that 500f4. My shoulder reminds me every after every hike with my 400f2.8 and 2x tele.😉

Watching your much warmer sunny weather while it's pitch black out, -38°C with a windchill of -48°C. 80+cm of snow on the ground since mid-October. Your photos were very cool. Nice bokeh. Camera lady is a big boost to your day, it's easy to tell you have a much more fun time when she's with you.

These videos are super relaxing. It's super cold around here in southern Nevada right now, but these videos motivate me to venture out to hike and shoot.

I love ravens, but the only good shots I've gotten are when they were on the ground and fairly close. At the Grand Canyon a few years ago there were EVERYWHERE, and would come right up to you because people either intentionally or carelessly feed them.

Nice vid. I always love your calm demeanor 😎 I invite you to come out this way to the PNW (Western Washington). You would get the opportunity to shoot so many birds you would lose your mind 😂. If you get a chance, please let me know. With that 500 Bald eagles, Redtailed Hawks, Owls, herons, you name it we have it. I have a 100-500 and just ordered a 100-300 2.8 (with a 2x tc) but I shoot sports mainly. I shoot wildlife when I get the chance but my photos never turn out like yours 🤣 Great job!

Beautiful country. You’ve got me thinking about buying the Nikon 2.0 teleconverter for my 100-400 and getting into some more serious wildlife photography “on the cheap”.

Love the content! Keep it up, but be weary of the three legged chair. Broke mine while I had a bobcat in frame, sending my camera, lens, and tripod down to the rocky ground, as a managed to catch it before it hit the rocks. Whew! Got a “dove chair” from Cabelas now. Much more stable for roughly same weight, but a tad bulkier.

What peaceful way to start the day , both for you in the video and for me watching it 🙂 I enjoy using the osmo pocket (I have the first version), it really simplifies getting stable footage from creative angles and takes up so little space. Thank you for sharing some New Mexico magic this morning 👍👍👍

I really like the OSMO shots, and that it can track and follow you when you're moving. Almost thought for a second camera lady had joined you when I was the camera tracking you. haha! Raven turned out well (as a non-birder).

I recently bought an Osmo Action 3 and a Sony ZV-1 for the vlogging bits. Having a shoulder problem right now makes it really hard to hold out the R6 with a 16-35 for vlogging...

Wonderful shots Brent. Is that Osmo mic internal or you have an external mic. Been debating on picking one up. Only thing stopping me is really the internal battery and not able to swap out on the go. Good vibes for the shoulder surgery at the VA.

Brent, I have a setup like you have used before: Canon EOS R6 and RF800 lens (and that darn F/11). If I got a 1.4 or 2.0 extender, would I have to point directly at the sun to get a shot? Just wondering. Thanks for the Bosque videos.

The Osmo is interesting, how you can set it to follow you around. My last time out birding, I had a similar experience. I actually got a few decent captures but not the species I was hoping for, except for wood ducks. Maybe next time. Happy New Year!

I love my osmos and use them quite a bit. The hyperlapse is a fun feature when going on hikes. How far away would you guesstimate you were sitting from that cactus when you showed us the view from the 500?
