thank you so much! Im new to plants and i bought my very 1st birds nest, but her leaves are turning brown and I had no idea why. All of your tips are wonderful and I will now start to take your advice and help my baby feel better again!
I am so happy that i found you on here. I have a victoria birds nest and you helped me so much!! Mine was turning brown and i know that i had it in too much light and the soil was dry because the person who got it for me had me scared about watering it so tge soil was way to dry!! Ashlee (my plants name) is doing sooo much better!!!! Thank you soo much!!
Mine get brown tip because I usually forget to water it until I see the leaves are droopy. As badly as I treat it, still keep shooting up new fronds all the time. One of the most easy fern to glow!
I've already lost one crispy wave and now my current one keeps losing leaves to dryness and crispyness so I'm excited to try and save them with your tips!! 🤩
i brought mine in for cold weather time and had potted it up also. now it is getting brown and droopy so i put a grow light on it for 3 hrs daily. now just watching to see what happens. thank you for so much helpful info.
Thank you! I moved my fern from a shaded corner of a room, closer to my grow light because someone in your comments from your last video suggested it. Ferns are very tricky, not an easy plant to grow, at all. I am going to move it back to the shade. Stop plant food, since we’re into the Fall (I live in the USA/ New York). And I am going to invest in that humidity temp gage. That will come in handy. 👍🏽
@@msxjade I was using Miracle Gro all purpose plant food. I tried this pellets Lucia recommended but you only get like a few tablets, so not economical.
Thank you for this video. I think mine is a combination, I think the chlorine in my tap water is too high, so I’ll try using filtered water, and move it away from the window as well. my dad has a bunch of these, I swear he fertilizes so much and they are thriving! we shall see.
Thank you! I have my birdsnest in a terrarium and it's almost 130 cm across it got some deformed leaves that are ripping with some brown parts. I never thought it might be because it gets too much light, even though it makes sense. I'll try lowering the light it gets!
Thanks for ur video. I am new to fern care...I think I watered too much especially leaves with spray bottle, also when temp elevated, think placement was too much light, do I moved her to cooler part of house less light. I will also keep water schedule and try filtered water and bottom water. Hoping my fern will bounce back...
Mine ended up with mites. I got those taken care of, but then made the mistake of giving it too much light. Hoping the poor thing will recover. Thanks for the tips!
I’m so glad I found you. My hurricane fern is struggling. And I can’t figure out why. But thanks, I think I know. She probably needs bottom water. And I do keep her in the bathroom. Thanks! #subscribed 😊 🪴
Hey Lucia! Thanks for another helpful video! I have a bird's nest that is of the large variety but it has NEVER grown a leaf larger that one centimeter wide. It always has new fronds in the crown yet, never gets any fuller or bigger. Why us this? I have changed the potting media ect and nothing. HELP! I have the pot just one size bigger than the root ball
I think I have done a trifecta on mine...1) potted up too may sizes 2) put it in the south facing window 3) over-fertilizing/over-watering...omg. No wonder it took such a dive. 😥
I love your videos! Your voice is so nice and relaxing. My bird nest has lost lead at the very bottom to yellowing... Wonder what this could be? Just an oil leaf that needed to go?
@@PlantsandLucia Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I see that another smaller bottom leaf is a little paler (yellow-wish). Also it was a few dry tiny spots on the leaves and it hasn't produced any leaves since I got it maybe a month and a half ago. I repotted it when I got it but I used a pot that almost wasn't bigger than its original pot... It had a lot of roots in a tight ball when I repotted it but I didn't touch them... Any tips?
Hi I bought this fern last week and it was doing well. I’ve now noticed some brown spots on one of the leaves, dark brown tips on some leaves and general browning on the edges of some leaves… I’m most worried about the brown spots. I have my plant in indirect light , and haven’t watered it yet, as the soil is still quite moist. Could you offer any advice pls? I’ve got some photos which I can send you on insta if you have an account… thanks so much
Yes ! I have a link to my favourite one in the description of this video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3yZohoyeGFE.html They also have offered a 20%off to our community when using the code LUCIA20 This one has been really great for my plants :-) and not too intense so I recommend for sure !
Now that I see this video, I notice my birds nest fern has barely any roots in comparison. It seems to be “ok” but it’s not growing at all. I have it in a self watering container and now I’m afraid it might be too much for it? It did give me brown leaves but lately the browning stopped, however she doesn’t grow at all. It’s as if its “hanging there” but not thriving.
