What the heck?! Am i too dump to understand this or is it really that Cryptic and/or full of Plot Holes?? Whetever something is Symbolic or Real is never clear, it apparently can also change from one second to another. I don't know who repaired and used the Light Tower during the Storm at the End (it got destroyed before). I never understood why the Son of a Drug Courier had Satan inside him, or rather: I didnt understood anything about Birdboy at all! I could mostly follow the Story of the 3 Kids, but overall, i don't think i got what happened in this Movie! Though, regarding the 3, i'm confused why these little Voice Demons changed from haunting the female Mouse to the male Mouse somewhere in the Story - a Writer Mistake?? Someome might explain it to me? And tell me it's not my fault?
@theeye8276
@theeye8276 4 года назад
@@slevinchannel7589 I'll answer in order. 1: I assume its common place for inanimate objects to be able to talk in the movie's world so no one mentions it. 2: I think birdboy was working on the light house but I forget. 3: In this world its possible for people to be possessed by a demonic entity/power, I just accepted it as common place since no body in the film questioned it: this is why birdboy and the lighthouse are feared by the mouse savages because they know he has this ability. Dinky the mouse also feeds birdboy drugs to surpress this ability he has. 4: Birdboy was just trying to help the birds/island while suppressing his demon so he wouldn't hurt anyone, but at the end of the movie he lets it out to save dinky.

I just got finished watching this movie out of curiosity and, I honestly have to agree. It honestly made me cry a bit. There are so many things about this movie that just hit me hard and resonate with me: depression, loss, love... this movie really hurts to watch, but it was absolutely beautiful. The one thing that you have to consider when watching this movie is what it's trying to portray. Don't look into the visuals literally, but instead look into the actual deeper meaning behind them. This movie is about depression, loss, death and how a society is trying to cope with it. It also shows the innocence of children and how they're trying to cope in a seemingly ruthless and uncaring world.

I love this film. Its so good. First time watching I didn't understand anything in it, but after a few times, I began to piece things together. I honestly thought the film was about drug addiction but the nature aspect kinda flew over my head for some reason. But after awhile, I wondered if BirdBoy was some kind of guardian of nature, rather than representing it. Also, I want to mention a little bit of foreshadowing that the rookie cop says to the bullies. Can't remember exactly what he said, but something about the quality of the deaths. "To shoot the heart to destroy their soul." or something like that. Around the end when Zacharias pulls BirdBoy out of the sea, that little light thing comes of his mouth. We're shown in one part of the movie that when a bird dies, I light thing comes out of their mouth as well. I think that's the soul, so BirdBoy's soul was never actually destroyed when he was shot through the heart. It lived on and brought Dinky to the life tree. (That's what I'm calling it)
@mixelstuff9331
@mixelstuff9331 5 лет назад
Yeah i remember that part about the rookie. Also i guess i did forget to mention who exactly lead Dinky to the Bird Sanctuary in the video sooo thanks for mentioning that here. I think the movie also acts as a coming-of-age movie that talks about one's transition into adulthood and how the youth are expected to carry on the problems of the world from the adults before them. Like what you said about cycles, it kind of addresses that there are three kinds of people: the ones who repeat the mistakes of the past like the dog cops or soldiers, the ones who strive to bring about change like Birdboy and his father, and those who don't necessarily work towards changing their current circumstances but rather just live with it regardless of how it makes them feel like the rats in the landfill. In my opinion, it also talks about some of the pressures and stresses that some youth are faced with and their own means of escape such as sex, substance abuse and violence. And their island is kind of the symbol of one's life: whether you like it or not, you were born into it and there's really no real way off of it and instead of trying to run away from whatever problems we face, we have to meet our challenges head-on and try to change it, for better or for worse. And although Birdboy dies at the end, the movies leaves off on a hopeful and optimistic note that there is hope for the future; even though Birdboy is gone, there will always be someone that will rise to the occasion.

I thought that the monster inside of him was the grief of losing his father. He took drugs to keep it down but it eventually takes over him (the time where he saves his friends but destroyed the mice) The way I saw it was also that they hated him and his father because they were birds. Just like how they used to think that blacks were all violent and up to no good but in reality, they are just trying to live their lives. I thought that the tree area was his hope. He had hope for the planet to be beautiful and healthy again and when the old bird tells him that he can't live there alone, she was saying that he can't keep hoping that it will happen and not do anything to make it happen. When Dinky found it too, it was as though his hope was passed on to her. Another thing I saw, was the art style and what that did for the movie. I think that they used that style because if you just glance at it it looks innocent, but when you look deeper (AKA watch it or wait for some of the REALLY detailed parts to come up) you realize that it isn't innocent at all. If you glance at the world and children of today they/it looks innocent. But if you look deeper you realize that it/they are much more messed up than it/they look. My parents said that it seemed a little over the top. I completely agree but I think it was supposed to be like that. It is over the top because these problems are over the top. The movie is just as overwhelming as the problems it presents in it. It would not be the same if it didn't do that. I think that it couldn't have been done better. I see what you thought and I understand your points. I feel as though you are right but so am I if you know what I mean. I feel like it could be either or both. It all just depends on how you see it. That's another thing about this movie. It could mean completely different things to different. This movie was a masterpiece. Didn't mean to go all essay on you. Sorry.

I feel like the voices speaking to Sandra aren't necessarily schizophrenia. More just a representation of cynical, cruel thoughts in the back of her head that she tries to resist and put aside to be a better person. She hugs little fox after thinking about murdering him out of guilt, and I think she also really admires him because he's just so naturally caring and naive without having dark thoughts like her.
@ClownHoundII
@ClownHoundII Год назад
This is just my take but it could be representing intrusive thoughts. Thoughts that are unwanted and typically action thoughts like killing the fox or other forms of abuse. Sandra doesn't want to hurt anyone but random thought of violence pop in.

I was a little confused about dinky. I assumed that when they said she was doing drugs, it was them assuming that because she stole them and gave them all to birdboy and never actually took them herself. But then again, that would make just as much sense as her taking the drugs because she is seen smoking in the short after her dad dies and it would also explain why she’s so understanding towards birdboy

@keilanl1784
@keilanl1784 3 года назад
There is a deep layer to this movie involving depression, anxiety, and mental illness that you don't really go into in your analysis. I've only seen this movie once and I can't dive deep into the messages presented, but Sandra and Birdboy both represent schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and their actions signal how people struggle with these thoughts they cannot control. Without his father, Birdboy needs other affection to survive. He found that comfort in Dinky, though he likely distanced himself due to him believing he will put Dinky in danger and thinking that he is weighing her down by distracting her from school, etc. I disagree that the only two decent people in the movie are Sandra and Little Fox. Almost every character is a decent person in this movie; their circumstances, however, made them into a misunderstood or unfortunate person. The movie specifically separates the characters from their black, violent tendencies because these voices do not define who they are. Birdboy is probably the most empathetic character in this movie. He struggles with how society sees him and claws to prove himself to the expectations of his late father and the expectations he places on himself for Dinky, even when the island sees him as a danger. Only during the climax of the movie, when the people he cares about are in danger, he slaughters the ones hurting them in an almost mindless rage, trying to protect the only people in the world who treated him as compassionately as his father. This does not make him an indecent person. He has inner demons that he cannot control, and is only freed when his soul flows from his body. This may be rambling, but these are my thoughts just after seeing the movie and then watching your analysis.
@timmydonohue5295
@timmydonohue5295 4 года назад
I also think that the five main characters represent the five stages of grief just how they live in this dead island and I think that this is how I comprehend, which Grief shares the same character. (Little fox, Denial) (Sondra, Anger) (Zaharias, Bragging) (Dinkey, Depression) (Bird boy, Acceptants).

boy this analysis makes me feel sympathetic for all the characters in the film, even the two police officers and I haven't seen the film yet, as such I think there are no true villains in this film, just people whose lives were changed by the explosion I hope to watch it one day though you know even though this is morbid you have to admit that that was a nice shot from the rookie cop, he managed to hit a flying target in the dark during a storm with the only source of light being from a lighthouse Also what if that's how Birdboy discovered the Grotto, his father's soul lead him to the Grotto just like how his soul does with Dinki at the end. Also are Birdboy's wings part of his suit or his body and I checked out of curiosity and there have been instances where birds have been used to smuggle drugs

This film is about problems that people actually have, depression, drug addiction, bullying, abuse, oppression, and mental disorders, a nuclear fallout happened that killed millions, and it's depressing The mothers spider metaphor is supposed to represent that she becomes a monster, hence the spider, and when she gets drugs, the spider grows bigger, representing that the remains of her past self are wasting away slowly The demons represent birdboys addiction to drugs, his inner demons and his depression, and that he's losing the battle with his inner demons, and that he's slowly becoming more suicidal Although the animation is beautiful and the voice acting is amazing, the meaning behind this film is dark and represents problems that people face in their everyday lives, the kid pig having to sell drugs to get money to buy more drugs for his mother, the father and son mice having to scrap through stuff to find copper for money, dinky being the hated child and her step brother being the favourite, her step father scolding and lecturing her, her biological father dying in the nuclear fallout, little fox being the victim of hate crimes and racism from his fellow students, and even darker things, it's movies like this that illustrate how dark, depressing, and cruel the real world can truly be, I applaud the creators for illustrating the cruelty of the real world, they took that concept, and made it into a beautifully illustrated film, this is one of my favourite movies of all time because of this concept

I think i said this somewhere else but I don't think that the rabbits talking to her are supposed to be literal- that she herself is hearing voices and seeing them but rather that they are representations of herself trying to coax her into doing bad things as intrusive thoughts. Part of this interpretation is because we don't see anything related to her other than the tiny rabbits (as well as teh fact that she is the only rabbit character in the film) and the fact that they drown. If this was meant to show that she had schizophrenia i highly doubt that they would show them drowning, after all schizophrenia cannot be cured and only treated. Not only that but there are plenty of aspects of the film that re symbolic and intrusive thoughts often feel like some tiny evil version of you is trying to ruin your day. I think this would also go with the choice of her being a rabbit which to me makes me think that her thoughts come somewhat from a place of vulnerability- her feeling like pushing little fox off the cliff seems kind of like projecting insecurities of her own onto him and getting rid of them so to speak. She's also probably self aware of this, given her expressions during these episodes in the film and the fact that her eyes go red with slits indicating that she might view herself as a monster.(this theory of mine might be myself projecting as I have thought about killing certain people in my life plenty of times that has bothered me, but i can brush them off) Considering that she went to a mental health facility I think that think that she has received some kind of treatment and knows how to deal with whatever she's going through, though she might have her low moments she is able to keep herself doing the right thing. This to me seems to imply that she is leaving the island maybe because she thinks that she's a burden to her family perhaps, and that the cause of this was something long before the events of the film, or even long before the people who took her to the mental health facility (who i assume were her family) noticed her more violent tendencies.

NOAA has released a chart of the last 58 years of temperature, however, they only show 37 years. Why? Those missing 21 years are of a cooling period.
