Continuing our birding adventure, trying to spot 250 different bird species in 2023.
Birding in and around Toronto, starting on the West of the Lakeshore at Colonel Samuel Smith Park, hitting Sunnyside Park and a couple of other spots.
Amusing note: I'd planned this video to be "West along the Lakeshore" but when we heard about the Redpoll at Sam Smith, we ended up starting in the west-end and coming east instead of going the other way. But I've stuck with the video title, anyway :)
I have a few items in my Etsy store, including some bird postcards featuring my photography, if you'd like to support this channel:

Hey, thanks a lot. Spring is going to be nuts trying to find opportunity to get warblers etc.. because I have a trip booked in May that I'll need to try to work around. Thanks for watching 👍

Great video! I too got my lifer Arctic/ Hoary Redpoll at the start of this year! A self found bird and a first for the region of Northern Ireland! Here's to birding!

250 species in a year?! Wow!!! I'm currently hoping to find 300 within my lifetime!
@BritHikesOntario
@BritHikesOntario Год назад
Haha 😊 No judgement on peoples' targets from me. It just depends where you are on whether you'll travel. 250 species is probably going to be quite easy for me because I have a couple of trips planned out of the province. Whatever target gives you a challenge is a good target 👍

My targets - 10,000… currently on 240 but when I’ll get more money I’ll travel further.
@BritHikesOntario

@@Just_shush_now 10,000 in a year? Hardest part of that for me would be keeping count as I went 😂

@@BritHikesOntario no… 🤣 I mean in my life time. Honestly being able to go all sorts of climates and areas is what birding allows us to do… even though I’ve only stayed in Europe and a few islands of Africa I’ve still seen a lot of different climates and cool birds.

What subspecies of Dark-eyed Junco appears at 9:26 in your video?
@BritHikesOntario
@BritHikesOntario Год назад
Hi Rylan, We get the "Slate-coloured" group in Ontario, Junco hyemalis hyemalis. Female's have brown colouring in the back and sides. Open to being corrected if I've got this wrong, though!

Thanks Rick 😊 I'd seen Peregrines here several years earlier and didn't know if they'd still be around. From what I've read, it sounds like the ones in this video are offspring from the ones I saw maybe a decade ago 😊

What type of harness does Sarah have??
@BritHikesOntario
@BritHikesOntario Год назад
Hi Harrison, Thanks for watching 🙂 If you search on Amazon for "Nikon Binoculars harness II", you should see it. Only about $11. Item number is: B07GTYZSFP Tempted to get a camera harness for myself, too.

Hi, The best I can do is share my ebird profile, here: ebird.org/profile/MzE1NTAy/world It's not completely accurate, there's probably a lot of stuff I've seen that isn't included, because I've only really started to consistently use ebird in the last couple of years. I do keep meaning to have some kind of website with a life list and photos and stuff, but never seem to find the time to keep one updated. Thanks for watching!
