The title track from the American Flowers E.P. (Out Nov. 17, 2017 on Signature Sounds) Featuring Rhiannon Giddens on harmonies and banjo and Steve Dawson on guitar.
The most compassionate, loving soft protest song I have ever heard. I got to hear them a few times at Space in Evanston and I bought their CD's. Someday, I hope I will get to hear them again, even if it's six feet distance:) Bless them. Bless us all.
Can’t get this song out of my head after hearing them perform it the other day live streamed on the Parlour Room Sessions. A true national anthem for our times. Thank you. Beautiful lyrics.
Gorgeous, poignant, as unforgettable a shimmering piece of music as a gothic Amazing Grace. The kind of song you can hear a million times and get a little shiver, then a smile of joy.
Aside from other accolades for this wonderful song, want to call out probably best blending yet of JT and Alison's voices. Lucky enough to see them live down in Oxfordshire recently, They played a mini set at the Americana festival in Hackney, and had to see more, Call out too to James , who played guitar that night - seen him previously backing Lindi Ortega (also criminally under-rated). Truly the country Hendrix, and a perfect foil for BoC.
So few with this true gift of music - harmonic equilibrium. No words for how profoundly Birds of Chicago music moves me. Thank you for all your recordings and interviews.
This song is beautiful. I listen to it (or butcher it trying to play and sing it myself) whenever I need to recharge my hope battery in this off-kilter world. Does anybody know if the verse about the young man waiting for the ambulance to come is based on a real event? I've googled but couldn't find anything.
After five years of releasing so much great new music, you've finally supplanted my favorite Birds tune, "Flying Dreams", with this total gem! Many of us need this jolt of hope right now. Thank you for your art.
Love this. Brought here from article in No Depression "AmericanaFest 2018: The Couch Potato's Guide" Support this pub if you love this music and support this band bc they're fantastic!
I got notice of you through a CD critique in the german newspapers love this song so much I´m really surprised of the support by Rhiannon Giddens got the chance to watch her live in March 2017 in Cologne
Beautiful. Please come and tour extensively in the UK - sorry missed you in Cambridge. We know there are many in the USA who are not fooled by Trump, just as over here there are many who embrace Europe and the world (despite the Brexit farce). Always feel positive after listening to BoS
