Quel génie, puis jouer le thème en SOL, impro et passer en Do ensuite pour finir sur le ton original à cet âge montre que son cerveau et ses doigts étaient bien à l'aise, guidés par une oreille bien mure déjà , et la mise en place purement parfaite ... des heures de travail derrière c'est sûr! 14 ans... Maestro!
even at 14 he played like monster!!this guy has come so far over the years.to be honest i could have listend to him play like htis all day.but he is ALWAYS improving!Bireli is always my favorite guitar player!
Birelli was so damn good at guitar at age 14. A french gypsy kid, who learned to play like django reinhart with no formal education. Also he spoke pretty good german when interviewed at end of this video. Crazy!
nice comment . . . . I am the same age as Bireli I started playing when I was 14. I did not have music around me the way he did. If I was Bireli I would be proud of the gypsy heritage, in this world there are good and bad people, some of them are gypsy and some not. In the gypsy world I see warmth family love and support in a way I don't see much in the non gypsy world. He's doing less than I imagine Mozart had to do to survive.
I know what you are saying but you have to remember that the music industry is an industry and unfortunately not one that actually employs people very well, so you make your money when and how you can. Shows like this undoubtedly enabled Bireli to earn lots of money so that he could focus on his music and his studies. Music in the world we know exists to entertain, you have to make a connection between the two activities or you don't survive. Believe me, I spent my life as poor musician.
Biréli Lagrène is French but the interview is in german. Luckily Biréli, who's from Alsace, a french region near Germany, speaks french, german, gypsy language and will learn english a few years later when touring with Jaco Pastorius in the States and in Europe!

idk man even angelo debarred still uses fake caravans at his shows. adds to the ambiance. bireli even then was a great guitarist and im sure hes more than happy with where his life has taken him much due to his early childhood
Very good. Was this from early 60's? There was a French kid I saw on videos from 1962, who was about 13-14 years old then, I forgot his name. Is this him?
Biréli Lagrène , guitarrista y bajista francés de jazz con raíces en la música gitana. Nacido en una comunidad de músicos gitanos, sorprendió con un talento precoz que le permitía reproducir, nota por nota, todos los temas de su admirado e inspirador Django Reinhardt. Tras esta fase de aprendizaje por emulación, Lagrène fue influido por Wes Montgomery y George Benson. Posteriormente, conoció a Jaco Pastorius y se introdujo en la música de fusión jazz rock e incluso llegó a tocar el bajo durante un tiempo antes de regresar a la guitarra.
