Birmingham has lack of investment lots of poverty and depression and corruption in Birmingham people not spent in the right places, money wasted and not invested in people as people are very backwards and miserable.
Friend of mine had 3 shops in the centre , he sold them as soon as the council said congestion charge and no parking ...Well done the thick Brummie council , he is in Leicester now doing very well , he said the city centre of Birmingham will die within 5 years ...And he is right ....
@marthasheilds2446 Birmingham has always been underfunded and depressing city people are miserable and unhappy locals are backwards and no progression in Birmingham and west midlands. Money spent in wrong places.
Mostly happening in “Multi-cultural” - basically non-white areas. If you think I’m wrong then travel through London and see it on a grander scale. Wherever white flight happens the place is devastated. Croydon is particularly bad and other areas similar to it are on the increase.
I’ve stopped visiting Birmingham now, but with exception I do visit the Spotted Dog in Digbeth . I’ts not my city anymore. Was great an the 1980’s 1990’s and early 2000’s.
Birmingham had great redevelopment around 20 years ago, and was on the way up. I was there two weeks ago and shocked at how badly it's gone downhill. Apart from the tram, there has been no investment in the last ten years. The city centre looks like shit, when it could have a lot going for it.
Birmingham was ok in up until the 90s. its a terrible shit hole these days, what gets me is property prices have a starting price or around 180k. with many earning as little as 25K id never dream of taking out a 30 year mortgage to have the privilege to live in Brum. especially when interest rates are so high, pack up and move to either another city or abroad.
@@jonathanlake6053 you could mortgage a house in the 70s with a load 3x your salary. even at 20% interest the monthly payments were a fraction of my monthly income compared to what they would be today, in 2024 even with relatively low interest rates the monthly payments are extortionate due to the properties being overpriced.
Born in 89 Lived in West Midlands all my Life , back in the early 2000s me and a group of friends would go every weekend to Birmingham Skating / shopping it was a blast, buzzing city all the shops open and most people were typical friendly brummies now it’s a sad sorry state
I used to walk that route every morning to work..from Corporation st up to Colmore row..early & late shifts, i used to love the hustle n bustle of our City centre..but...sadly..after leaving tgat job & working out ot tiwn..thank god!! Last time walked round..i could've cried..nothing but "diversity" strong smell of weed on every corner, dodgy foreigners too! I was born here 63 years ago * sadly..last time i dared to venture into my home town..6 years ago...i knew then..Birmingham council has put diversity & importing sh** above their own citizens!!
No diversity loads of English people living there in Birmingham just outside of city centre, city centre has always been rough and depressing and dangerous most locals are all on drugs and poverty and high unemployment is always been a factor in Birmingham.
Up until early 2000s the city centre was full of smartly dressed attractive people, it was somewhere you'd gladly take a girl from the office for a lunchtime walk. Nowadays it's somewhere to avoid, very depressing and odd
Birmingham has always been a dump ugly grey and depressing miserable place miserable locals no one's friendly . Older and younger generations are depressed and racist.
They will when it is fully fledged 15 minute city and everyone is forced back in. They will tax and regulate you out of suburbia and rural areas. Not sustainable for the planet you see. Got to meet them Net Zero milestones.
I visited to pick up some car parts... I felt like I was in the Middle East... nobody I asked for directions spoke English.. couldn't wait to get out of there ASAP.
The pandemic was a disaster for many small and medium sized businesses. There was a massive transfer of wealth to the big corporations . The supermarkets fared well by and large. Many towns and cities will not recover for a long time, if ever.
We're automating all the admin jobs - the office workers who used to stroll around in their best outfits are long gone. And internet shopping has killed what's left. We need to think very carefully where this is leading
Ye keep pedestrianiting the streets keep painting double yellow lines carry on with the car parking fees What an embarrassment this country has become for the world.. No wonder folks are shopping online..
Our council was corrupt and had to pay massive. To a point of dept. 500 million, and that only what's been announced. Lord knows how much they truly need to bounce back. But it doesn't help with an influx immigration. The company's jumping ship to Europe after the recession / brexit. Need a pure reform. Money needs to stay in the country to not only to the major city's, towns, and villages but to our overall infrastructure. Such ashame
Well its time to rely on each other instead of the rich , its time to be yourself instead of what you buy from the rich , if they turn the lights out use torches, your going to love the view of the night time sky, don't be afraid of love like naughty Christians
Reflects the country overall. Blame immigration, local councils, any number of easy targets but the reality is central government have decimated funding at a local level which has caused local authorities to slash services, increase business rates and council tax and essentially crisis manage their respective areas. It’s a lose lose situation. Unfortunately folk tend to look locally for explanations when it’s Westminster that are largely responsible.
Makes me laugh when I see videos like this, if you think it’s bad now it was much, much worse 10/15 years ago. Of all the major uk cities I’d say the centre of Birmingham feels the most developed and well planned.
This town is now gone to the dogs born an bred brummie I am and I'm telling u its always been a shit hole people just nvr noticed till now RIP BRUM TOWN
