Birmingham's LGBT+ Nightlife ️‍- Brummin' Brilliant! 

Was nice to see met my partner in the Nightingale when it was in Camp hill more than 40 years ago. We emigrated in 1981 and never came back to the city of my birth. Thanks for your post we always watch you guys.

Birminghams gay scene used to be so fun and vibrant - even the weeknights back in the 90s and most of the 2000s these bars were rammed and making a pretty profit but since grindr / and the residental gentrification of hurst street - the gay bar is under threat and birminghams scene is well and truly done. Eden (the old white swan) GONE (now at the old Jester) but Jester GONE, Unit 2 the Sauna - GONE (no sauna in the city centre). Nightgales is literally the only nightclub now (but before we had ( Subway / DV8 / Route 2 / Chic - all GONE), - the only two venues worth going are Missing and The Village. Fountain used to be lovely in the summer garden (now its been built-in by these residental monostosities) - and boltz looks next to go (buldozed for more residential shoeboxes). Loft is nice and Sidewalk but they dont have the same pre-club vibe that the old Angels bar used to have. The gay quater would be better to reloctate over by the Hockley edge of town - or down Constitution Hill / (make it full of bars and LGBT businesses - or by Water Street / Livery Street. Plus the scene should somehow get ownership over the Tunnel Club (subway city) that club was the scenes best - and bring that back into use as an lgbt night club..

Not sure why this came up on my watch list as a straight guy but it was very entertaining

Fun fact... The memorial to HIV/AIDS is the only thing for people living with HIV in Birmingham. I helped out at a drop in centre that the council stopped funding over 7 years ago and THT, who were based miles from the scene left around the same time. I was curious when this was unveiled and emailed the LGBT centre and asked what they provided for people with HIV and it's still nothing which for the "second city" is a bit crap. As for the scene - I remember the good old days and gave it another shot a couple of weeks ago just to find myself being wary of people in bars following drunk people round (they were sober,) and just felt they were up to no good and I felt they were looking for someone to rob.

My home town , sadly it’s changed down the gay area and not for the better , loads of gay bashing still going on , the Chinese area is taking over the gay areas , there will be no gay venues within the next ten years ,
