Most might not know that Birmingham, one of the largest cities in England, has its own trams much like its neighbour to the north Manchester. In this video, we'll explore the history and the future of the West Midlands Metro and how the system is set to expand with HS2.

The West Midlands Metro could extend to Coventry, Merry Hill shopping centre and Curzon Street HS2 station.

Line Two is currently under construction, it will pass through Dudley, Merry Hill Shopping Centre and terminate at Brierley Hill, with plans to potential extend further out to Stourbridge, the first part of what will be called Line Three, is the east side extension, which will link up Curzon Street and HS2, and Digbeth and then will eventually extend out to the NEC, Airport and the HS2 interchange in Solihull.

Metros and trams are suited for shorter journeys in urban areas. I don't think they're ideal for inter-urban or regional routes. That's better served by regular trains.
