Bhagwan Swaminarayan's life is marked by his spiritual teachings and the establishment of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. He was born as Ghanshyam Pande in the village of Chhapaiya, Uttar Pradesh, India, in 1781. At the age of 11, he renounced his home and embarked on a spiritual journey.
During his travels, he gained followers and disciples, and in 1801, he settled in the village of Loj in Gujarat and assumed the name Swaminarayan. He established temples, initiated social reforms, and emphasized the importance of devotion to God and moral living.
His teachings stressed the ideals of dharma (righteousness), bhakti (devotion), gnan (knowledge), and vairagya (detachment).
