"The guardians forged our rings from WILL. Will can do more than cover our retreat, will is the reason behind all action. we must WILL our survival" - Avra, the first green lantern.
cool because it shows how when they just use the rings as blasters with no imagination, they're basically no more effective than standard ship weapons, but once they begin...yeah cool ;l
You are the first person to sell me on why they need constructs based on real things vs just using straight up energy. I always thought that was a joke, but now I see some appeal if you give it a reason.
Honestly, its not that using just pure energy attacks and defense is weak, its that their will was weaker before. They didnt believe they could win, they didn't believe they were strong enough. His first attack after enduring the red beam, literally obliterated the ship, and that too was a pure energy attack. Then witnessing this, the other too realized, if he can do this, he is that strong because of the ring, we can do this, we are that strong too.
@@firefox30570 exactly ! That's why green lanterns are so powerful they just have to believe they are still in control of the situation and have the pure will to make there desired outcome a reality .
I love the concept of the green lanterns creation over fear when most people face real fear they can't think straight meaning they ever go back to fight or flight except those with will to overcome it and the first green lantern wasn't a fighter it was a writer who had more imagination
It is one thing, to say that you will stand against a foe even if it means standing alone. It's another to actually do it, particularly when you're packing a weapon that's literally fueled by willpower. In other words what Avra did was actually the single most rational course of action despite it seeming to be completely insane. He considered failure absolutely unacceptable, the ring reacted to his will, and thus victory became possible.
And yet to actually "do it," to take action when on does *not* have a will-powered ring, *that* is what demarcates true bravery from mere willingness to do the right thing. The fact that taking action against a powerful "bad actor" can - and often does - end in self-sacrifice, is how we distinguish *true* heroes with *actual* bravery from mere superheroes.
Thing is the first lantern actually is a bad guy. The guardians use him to make the other rings. Red. Orange, blue, yellow, green, and etc all those powers belong to one person. He got enslave by the guardians and they use his power.
The music that accompanies this clip is nothing short of perfect. It conveys the urgency, passion and emotion of the event. I can't stop watching it. Well done.
Four lanterns held out pretty well before they lost a member before they realize the full pontienal of the Ring powers. Then once they realize it and the First Green Lantern was born, they just straight up merc them all.
muffins well I don’t know about that. It depends on your will power. If you can make one you need the DNA of aliens to transform into them. But I doubt there’s any aliens like the ones from Ben 10. So you will pretty much just change your appearance.
muffins again it will need DNA of those aliens. And unfortunately the dc universe probably doesn’t have any of those aliens. It has aliens but not.....you know....useful ones. Ones that can take over technology. Even if they did the ring would run out of energy and I doubt the DNA would be saved.
I think it's because they have to have enough will power to make better constructs. In the movie they said the ring is powered by the users will to survive. They are also the first Green Lanterns and they might not understand the ring fully.
I want a show focused on these 3 beings. It would be cool to see what the first green lanterns were like. Also, can we please have another red lantern hero.
This video alone shows how powerful can a lanterns of any sort can be! But Ryan Reynolds's Green Lantern destroyed the reputation of this characters with such an unique calibre.
ok im not a big fan of amv's but this is actually really epic, if I didn't know better I would have believed this was like some green lantern music video for the song, whoever did the editing/timing did an amazing job
I love this scene and the music is baddass too! I wish DC would show GL's like this more often. Taking on entire Armadas and such. I can't stand how they nerf them in the justice league movies and animated shows just so they can fit into the plot. A green lantern can do so much more than shoot lazers that don't hurt anybody and make shields that break like glass from basic enemy attacks. Their constructs are suppose to be nearly indestructible. Hell Kyle Rayner was able to contain a super nova explosion. That's like 500 billion hydrogen bombs.
This is an Excellent Material my friends. That Old Good Times and that Iconic. And close by saying: its me or All the previous Reviews are Gone. Thanks.
@@georgogiannakis6123 The thing with Kamina is that he was unaware that he had become a mortal god, he could have become more greater than Lord Rasen. I mean, he was the one who triggered Simon's spiral force, it was his will that made Gurren Lagann, but he never actually knew about it. I always make the question if Kamina was aware of the spiral force, I guess Gurren Lagann would have ended in one or two episodes... I'd be ok with that tho.
I've been saying the same thing for years. DC has a gold mine on their hands but they have to present them like this. Powerful. Able to take on an entire armada single handedly.
This guy defined what it meant to be a Lantern, Hal redefined and proved they could overcome anything should they have enough will. Remember when they were incapable of fighting yellow? Hal willed his way through the weakness and turned it into a rite of passage to be a true Lantern.
this is the green lantern film i would like to see made. not one about a human lantern, but rather about the green lantern corps and its beginning . about when the guardians created the first rings and the first lanterns.
That is vastly oversimplifying it to the point of inaccuracy. Jessica and Simon were there. There were seven originsl lanterns instead of four, none of whom were Simon or Jessica. Four of them died in combat and Jessica rallied the survivors to keep fighting, while Simon (who has had no ring this whole time) yells out to this lantern killing bad guy and socks him in the jaw!
Well think about in this instance the entire amassed willpower of the Universe, was split amongst 5 people. Today there are millions and millions of Green Lanterns
@@Marcieishereandqueer not really that "will power" You're talking about don't work like that, it works more like a timer rather than a fuel that is consumed the more You use it, what determines how strong They are is They own will not how munch They have stored in the ring, but Yeah if You have few it aint gonna last that much
@ Caleb On the one hand, she's just a plot device. But if it's true that in a multiverse of possibilities, what we saw here is historical, not fictional. The two possibilities arising from that can be instructive: 1) If you're a dualist - you think there is a nonmaterial "spirit" that survives bodily death - then no death is a tragedy; tears and trauma are wasted on the dead. 2) If you're a physicalist - you think *the process that you are* ends with bodily death because the substrate (brain) can no longer support it - then her death is an unmitigated tragedy. Rage! *RAGE* against the dying of the light! If we truly have lost all our loved ones to the oblivion of non-existence, *we* are the only ones who will suffer. We do not yet know if there is a third alternative, but we must continue to look for it. Are they still extant, but cut off from everything, including themselves? Could recreating brainstates by a quantum sensor that reads across time and space bring them forward to us again? As a species, it would not be the first time we have done something that was thought impossible. Don't be unrealistic, but don't give up!
My thoughts " If the green lanterns powers depends on their imaginations , shouldn't their training be more of watching TV and exploring other Earth's to try and expand their imagination, instead of sword fights"""" 🤔🤔
Imagination is one thing.... but thinking of a perfect counter in the heat of battle? And having the will and state of mind to actualize such an imagined concept into reality requires training and reaction timing....sword fights are a good way for that
I feel so bad for the one who died before they knew you could do more than shoot lasers out of it. Also why'd they send them into battle without explanation like that
Many others were like that: Hal jordan was a test pilot Arisa was a school girl (in this continuity anyway) Thaal Sinestro was an archaeologist Kilowog was a geneticist Etc
Apart from the fact that they were the 1st lanterns so the code of conduct probably wasn't formed yet Green Lanterns are allowed to take lethal action if the situation requires or if they receive the authority from the Guardians. However, most don't because they prefer to capture the perps alive. It's not like Batman's oath that no matter what he won't kill.
While I’m a big fan of the GLs coming from a military family I’m not a fan of the rings just leaving a fallen lantern and returning to OA leave no fallen soldier behind is more then just a motto it’s respect for those who die so always had a problem with their rings just flying home
Amazing fight scenes! Love the moment where they discover they could create constructs. Hate that the sole girl of the group dies just to drive the despair in. I'm coping by imagining that the rest of the group at least two are women.
if the ring can give u the ability to create anything u imagine ... why do they always use laser or something .. can't they imagine a big fucking missile launcher or some big ass space ship or a massive moon size blade to cut the ships in half
I think it's because rhey have to understand the intricate details of the construct they are creating, which is why Hal Jordan doesn't make nukes, etc, because he doesn't have explicit knowledge of how it works
Lack of imagination on them or the writers. A good Green Lantern writer comes up with really great constructs based on the character and their background. Hal often does things like propellers and things to do with aviation. He also does boxing gloves and in "First Flight" he was fighting insect-like aliens and did a giant fly swatter.
GAH... DAYUM! No WONDER they kept Green Lantern out of the DCEU. Much like they wanted to limit Captain Marvel’s involvement in the MCU because she was too powerful, imagine a whole ARMY of Captain Marvels! 😱😱😱
@@Garrett8489 Normally you cant kill someone, but he Guardians will remove this rule if the threat is dangerous enough.... or be Hal Jordan and give thatrule a finger and will past it.
