Hi Colin. I am a native of Birtley and now live In Alnwick Northumberland and really appreciate all the videos you put out about my home area including Chester le Street, Durham, Gateshead, etc etc. I knew Ned Cowan, a real gentleman and Christian and when I knew him he lived in the cottage opposite the Angel of the North long before it was there. Yes i can remember many of those streets . I remember the Plaza and the Apollo was there often. I can remember walking home with a pennys wirth of broken biscuits . My family originaly from Birtley. I lived in Barley Mow until i was 12. Them moved to Esh Winning in 1963.
