Stan Laurel is not from Bishop Auckland. He lived in Bishop Auckland for a few years whilst his parents worked at the theatre (actors that toured). He is actually from Ullverston.
The church is for sale £265k, the big empty house I believe was a maternity hospital. You walked down princes street but missed the blue plaque outside the house Stan Laurel lived as a kid.
@@lohanette yes I know, it's gone downhill for a few years now, and shops moving on the outskirts, but the new cinema will be open soon, albeit at tindale crescent....
Sorry to say Bishop Auckland was a good time every shop was taken and thriving in Newgate Street now its dilapidated, dirty, nailbars, turkish hairdressers, charity shops, and half a dozen shops that's essential other wise there is no new openings 😢
Your caption saying Bishop Auckland is on the rise did make me guffaw ‼️ It's so LOW the only way is UP ‼️ Your look at the castle and grounds was rather misrepresentative of the town. Most shops are closed down and the only thing that keeps people turning up is Morrisons and Asda and a couple of banks 😮 Yes DCC have had an injection of cash and are designing a 'Square' 😮😮 very useful, I am sure 😒😒
