A stream of thought that flows through virtually all of Bishop Barron's sermons. In no particular order, they include antipathy towards material gain, opposition to pursuing economic security, an unease with sensual fulfilment, and opposition to social recognition. This is problematic.

I know you have a strong urge to challenge bishop Barron but please tell us what your world-view is because the Bishop is not hiding...his.

Bishop Baron is a neo-Thomist. He makes that clear. He would likely interact with Christian Humanism. He may well have published something explaining what he thinks of it. These videos are not that. He is just preaching. He is preaching the Catholic faith. He is not responding to all the philosophical objections out there. He is not averse to that. He is a scholar. Yet that is not what preaching is supposed to do

Just saying "the world has moved on" or "philosophy has moved on" are not arguments against Thomism. Baron is saying that the ontological existence of a created thing (e g. A lion, a planet) has a goodness in itself. You are missing his point. He is NOT saying that a lion is not capable of acting, etc. Further, he is not advocating purposelessness or that humans are not required to aspire to something. Again you are miss the whole point.

Yup! People always have problems with priests. The priest is always wrong If he begins the mass on time, his watch is advanced; If he begins the mass five minutes later, he keeps people waiting. If he renovates the church, he keeps on spending; If he does not renovate the church, he allows everything to rot away. If he is with women, he is a playboy. If he is with men, he is gay. If he is with children, he is a pedophile. If he is with old women, he is a mama’s boy. If he keeps distance from all of them, he is a snob. If he is with old people, he is old fashioned. If he is with with young people, he is out of place. If he takes his time in the confessional, he is too slow; If he does it fast, he does not really care about the penitents. If he preaches longer than ten minutes, he is boring. If he preaches less than ten minutes, he did not prepare his sermon; If his voice is loud, he shouts at people. If his voice is soft , he is too hard to comprehend. If he owns a car, he is too worldly; If he does not own a car, he is impractical and does not go with the times. If he goes out to visit families, he is always out of the parish; If he does not visit them, he is not concerned about the welfare of his parishioners. If he asks for contributions, he is very materialistic; If he does not ask for contributions, he is just too proud to ask for help. If he is young, he has no experience. If he is old, he should retire. If he says sorry, he is insincere. If he does not say sorry, he is callous. If he defends himself, he is proud and is blind about the real issues. If he does not defend himself, he is guilty and should be punished soon. As long as he lives, there are always people who are better than him; But when the priest dies … very few are willing to follow or encourage his son or brother to take his place.

My friend your ignorance is on show for all to see. Where does one begin? Aquinas's teaching is just as valid today as it was in the 1200's and just because he is from the past logically does not invalidate his teaching. My advice to you is to stop talking and begin a programme of study of the great theologians and philosophers of the past. SHHHHHHHHHH You clearly have not understood Bishop Barron's presentation.

@@jonathanmalong7594 just Marioligy, praying to dead saints, purgatory, and so much more is enough to fill volumes: not to mention the selling of the catholic religion as being the only religion is heresy beyond the scope! Read the bible in the Spirit, but you need to be born again of the Spirit of God, to discern what is written there!

@@louisvega-oe2sc These are familiar reoccuring prejudices from some ignorant protestants. Many protestants today have understood better. Cf. Scott Hahn, Taylor Marshall etc. You clearly don't know much about Catholic theology. Kindly enroll in a Catholic parish, theological college or seminary after that we can talk.
