I had to wait and make my confirmation myself in my 40s. I regret I didn’t do it earlier. It was a beautiful moment and I truly loved declaring my faith and receiving the anointing. Glory to God. If you haven’t done it, take time to go do it. Don’t wait. There is absolutely a miraculous power within this sacrament. ✝️

What an honor it would be to have Bishop Barron to be a mentor and leader for the young people. He's 100% correct on happiness which I wrote an essay on with Daniel Gilbert before my conversion to Catholicism. I still need to be confirmed.

Cajus Lehmann Yes. Considering Bishop Barron is one of the most intellectually powerful, most influential, most famous, and probably most holy people in the entire American Catholic Church.... It would be quite the honor.

Jason I wonder if I can make it happen. I know some pretty heavyweight Catholics. And Bishop Barron shares a column with my mentor Dwight Duncan.....how coo, would that be? And Peter Kreeft. I would be so proud. So I converted and go to Mass but how do I arrange the formal going through the confirmation and so on? Thanks and God Bless

Brandon Young All you have to do to receieve the Sacrament of Chrismation (aka Confirmation) is ask your parish Priest. There are several ways to go about it, and the Priest or Deacon will decide what's best for you personally. Then your Bishop (or Priest if the Bishop gives him special permission) will administer the Sacrament to you, and you will be permanently sealed with the Sign of the Cross and the Holy Ghost making an indelible mark on your soul and adding the finishing touch to what began at your Baptism.
@Jason-qs4jj
@Jason-qs4jj 7 лет назад
Brandon Young Also, when it comes time to be confirmed: I recommend going to Confession either the day before or the day of Confirmation... The day after my Confirmation, I had to confess to being Confirmed while in a state of sin - It was also sort of embarrasing because as I sat with all the other people being confirmed, when we went up for Communion I had to quickly dodge the Priest so as to not receieve and eat and drink condemnation to myself by receiving Our Lord unworthily.
@TolkienStudy
@TolkienStudy 7 лет назад
Jason wow thank you for sharing all that and for pointing my in the right direction. I think I did have communion once during an Opus Dei retreat and I threw it up along with my breakfast. I was definitely in sin and thinking of it....there wasn't confession. Confession is so essential. Thank you Jason.

Blessed to have been confirmed into the Church this Easter 2017. I am really finding a "shift" going on in my soul since the Easter Vigils Mass, and to be quite frank, it is not pleasant to the "old man me." Quite a bit like Aslan shredding the dragon skin from Eustace. But praise be to the Lord, it is SO worth it to be bound to his Bride, the Church.

Wow Bishop Barron is awesome!! I was converted to the holy Catholic Church two years ago at the age of 38. I'm still in the process of learning all I can about our Catholic faith. There's so much to learn. But even after two years of studying, including all the RCIA classes I attended. I have never quite looked at my confirmation the way Bishop Barron explained it. Thank you Bishop Barron for all of your wonderful videos. I pray that God blesses you and your ministry. May our Lord Jesus Christ keep you safe. And grant you many rewards in heaven for your love and service too the holy Catholic Church and all of her people.

Ryan Mucko Bishop Barron is one of the most learned men in the history of the Church, and I am absolutely sure if you asked him "how much do you know, and are you still learning?" his answers would be "very little, and until I enter the Beatific Vision, God willing". Life on earth this time around, in itself, is a Catechism. You are not "fully Catechized" until you receive your glorified body and Jesus renews the heavens and earth and creates the New Jerusalem... Even then, I'm sure we'll still be deepening in our understanding of the Deity as we gaze on His Infinite Holiness up close.
@Ryan-ps5xc
@Ryan-ps5xc 7 лет назад
You were absolutely 100% correct. There is so much to learn about the holy Catholic Church. Someone with a 260 IQ could research the Catholic Church for their entire life and only learn a fraction of all there is. That's why I don't understand why so many parishes don't have Catholic education classes. Most parishes do have Bible study and things like that. Don't get me wrong. Learning about the holy Bible is very important. But very few have parishes have classes that teach people about the holy Catholic Church. It would be wonderful to be able to find a group that teaches about the catechesis and the doctrines of the holy Catholic Church. Especially things like the seven sacraments, body and blood of Christ, Eucharistic adoration Etc. So many Catholics know less about their own faith. Then they do about Paris Hilton or those reality tv show. The few parishes that do have catholic education classes. Have them during the week in the evening. Because I work second shift I can never go to them. The majority of my Catholic faith education comes from reliable sources on RU-vid and the Internet. Like Bishop Robert Barron, Cardinal Raymond Burke, Archbishop Charles Chaput, Msgr Charles pope, and a few priests and brothers. Thank God for those holy men of the cloth. That are willing to go the extra mile to teach people about the holy Catholic Church. God bless them all.

God had a life trajectory for me that was painful, empty and uncertain with little to no love with the exception of my grandparents. I had to endure this to understand the plight of others especially our youth. God decided it was time to experience the all-embracing pure love of the Holy Spirit in August of 2017. Seven months later, on March 31 (Easter vigil) I was confirmed at the age of 43. Besides that day in August, my confirmation was the happiest day of my life. My life began when the Holy Spirit was sealed the very moment the anointing oil was placed on my forehead and took a deep breath inhaling the clean rich scent of myrrh. It was a moment where the Holy Spirit wiped away all painful thoughts and past

Your excellency, I find this video very interesting. On Easter Vigil 2010, I made my confirmation. At first, I had doubts and was skeptical. But my mom encouraged me to do it. So the big day came. My older brother attended the celebration. He was skeptical of what I was doing. He thought it was a publicity stunt. But I proved him wrong. As for my confirmation name, it’s Michael. Named after Saint Michael the archangel. I know of two biblical passages that Jesus said. “Many are called, but few are chosen.” “It was not you who chose me. It was I who chosen you.”

I was confirmed after a conversion to Catholicism at 35. My life changed significantly and all for the better. Personally, I was glad to do so as an adult when I found I had a deeper understanding. I would be interested on your thoughts about the age of typical confirmation versus confirmation later in life. I love your podcasts and youtube clips! I was confirmed in 1951. I don't remember anything about it. If I made any "promises" it wasn't after careful consideration as to whether or not I really believed. At age 13, after thorough indoctrination in Catholic school, I accepted without question, the claims of the nuns and priests. It wasn't any different than my infant Baptism. I didn't have any choice.

The Lord espoused by the culture is your idealized vision of yourself. That is why they are always saying to "follow your dreams". Their praise of wealth, power, pleasure, etc is just how they modify it. They are using emotion to manipulate you on a subconscious level. Advertising is based on the same thing. That isn't to say that Christians can't follow their dreams, but that we subject them to Christ our Lord. This ordering does three things. First, it maintains context in the larger community via Christ's command to love our neighbor. Second, we don't pursue them by any means necessary as Christ tells us to sin no more. Third, losing hope of ever achieving what we dream of doesn't get us down all that much because our treasure is in heaven.

Well...I'm not sure that's entirely correct. We are "publicly declaring who [we] are before the Church and before God" every time we pray the Creed at Mass. We renew our baptismal vows at various masses throughout the year, not just at our Confirmation. When we enter the Church, we dip our finger in the Holy Water and bless ourselves, and we are remembering our baptism and, hopefully, recommitting to those vows. We don't just chose our faith one time and then are done. We chose our faith every time we chose to say yes to God and no to sin, every time we chose to answer the call to prayer. Sadly, it is this mentality that cause people to treat the Sacrament of Confirmation like a graduation from the Church, and it is so wrong and so sad. Confirmation is so much more than just "choosing the faith."
@QuisutDeusmpc
@QuisutDeusmpc 4 года назад
Historically, baptism has been known as the sacrament of faith and so "a public declaration" of faith in Jesus Christ. The sacrament of chrismation or Confirmation has been considered a STRENGTHENING of the reception of the Holy Spirit we receive in baptism for the TO CONTEND FOR or DEFEND THE FAITH. So, look at the Apostles in the upper room after Christ's resurrection, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven, whose sins you retain are retained. [cf. John 20: 19-23]" BUT ten days later on that first Pentecost Sunday, the Holy Spirit falls on the entire Church, and WITH ZEAL they go out and SPREAD the faith, contend for the faith, defend it against detractors on that first Pentecost [cf. Acts 2]. In fact, the bishop used to slap the cheek of the confirmands, to let them know believing in Jesus Christ would be a battle and entail suffering.

-Thanks for your response, I do believe the Catholic Church nail everything when it comes to salvation, but this secondary & unnecessary doctrines are against the scriptures, like purgatory for example. The Bible tell us that the blood of Jesus clean us from all sin (1 John 1:7), why do we need purgatory then?
@1962mrpaul
@1962mrpaul 7 лет назад
FernandoP1 - Art Zone Productions we need more than being cleansed from sin, we also need to be holy as God is holy in order to live with God forever in heaven. Forgiveness of sins gets us out of hell, but we need more than that to get into heaven. As Scripture says, we are to "strive for peace with all men, and for that holiness without which no one can see God (Hebrews 12:14)." Scripture also tells us that God is an all-consuming fire that purifies and perfects His saints. This Fire is purgatory. All the doctrines of the Catholic Church are in perfect harmony with the Scriptures. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would guide us to all truth and the Holy Spirit has never failed and will never fail to do so. And Christianity is about more than just "how to get to heaven."
@fernandop1
@fernandop1 7 лет назад
Paul Johnson -Thanks, but what's the difference between been Holy and been sinless?
@fernandop1
@fernandop1 7 лет назад
Star_City_Mayor -Thanks for your response, but the issue of indulgence is because of purgatory by which these starts to get out of hand and it starts taking a shape of a business more than a doctrine in that sense. God bless.

Oh come on, friend. Every human organization is marked by these sins. But you want to reduce the whole of Catholicism--which includes Mother Teresa, Francis of Assisi, John Paul II, Maximilian Kolbe, Edith Stein, and millions upon millions of unsung saints--simply to corruption?

Didn't Bob Dylan allude in an interview that he sold his soul to the devil?

I like this guy Robert. He is bright and has my brothers namesake. When witnessing such insightful presentations I sometimes take note of this data that corresponds with the projection. The data itself is often presented in the same way as Station six of the cross, the copy or transfer of image. The Veronica namesake means True Image - hey that is the same acronym of IT or Information Technology. Boy the Catholics are getting sharper and sharper. It almost reminds me of back in the Day when I filmed Mitchell Buick commercials. Donning the car salesman with a crown and creating an edit just like in the I dream of Jennie television series. Yes low budget can convey a whole lot of data. In fact John Mitchell allegedly got caught turning back odometers in his establishment which I admired so much. A dealership adorned with twin Leo lions that caressed those entering the premises as such to fondle their emotions in such a way just to get a rise out of the needle. And here on the RU-vid odometer of •11,470 views I must also wonder IF the odometer is being monkeyed with in such a way to actually manifest the word of God? This is certainly not the case as Christianity teaches us to be honest and to never convey the notions of education to others via the realm of wizardry an magic. I am no snub nosed wandering Jew who is making my Dia remarks after 164 comments. In fact I am German on my dads side and Polish & Swedish on Moms. So my GPS of the (S.O.C.) or Sacrament of Confirmation is strictly in association with the namesake of Simon of Cyrene. IF you are Greek and like math then perhaps the annotation of Σίμων Κυρηναῖος applies as it relates to the ancient puppet theater of Karigos and the dragon. Dragons are a decorated snake and the namesake of Stephanie certainly applies here when adorning a dragon with a crown. Me being the native 'Beaver spirit' that I am. I prefer to thing of my crown as the pubic spread of a gal that I met at Menards in Antioch, Illinois on Mothers day of 2017. I can just imagine her getting off on the dominant ruler ride and climaxing as such so that her juices flow into MeRAK the plow star of the Big Dipper so as to pour out upon her naked and fondled sister lying next to us who is also in orgasmic convulsions that I hooked up to her perky nipples.

Our LORD GOD, JESUS CHRIST did not teach us any 'sacraments'. These are the figment of the imaginations of the 💒 of rome to bind them to obey their false non biblical traditions n teachings🤤

Wil liam “Go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. “Do this in memory of me.” “If you declare men’s sins forgiven, they are forgiven.” Shall I go on?
